I was sleeved in September 2014. I lost about 17 pounds pre-surgery. Over the first three months post-surgery, I lost another 40 pounds. Slowly. Lots of stalls. Lots of two steps forward and one step back. Until the steps back became greater and greater and I started gaining back the small amount of weight I had lost. I…

Isopure Zero carb drinks, Unjury chocolate drinks, and lots of surgar-free popsicles. Also, I would get Chick Fil A chicken noodle soup and just eat the broth (lots of flavor!) Good luck!!

I can't seem to lose at all if I go over 60 grams of carbs a day. I don't worry about protein but try for over 75 grams and moderate fat.

@AngieViolet, I definitely think you've got the right mindset --- "now I know that I'm awesome, and men are drawn to that". I love that!!! :)

Oh.My.Gosh!! I don't know whether to laugh or cry after reading these. I am in my 40's and was married for almost 25 years. I'ts been over ten years of wanting to separate but the kids were little, etc. This is the year I break free and take action and I am excited at the future but apprehensive too. Now, I read all about…

I had Kaiser for my gastric sleeve (9/2014). It was a six month program.

Hi and best wishes on your journey!

Hi! Welcome and congrats on the loss so far!!
-
Welcome back and glad that you are getting healthy and recovering!

Hi! I am trying to stay with 30/50 g carbs (30 net or 50 total). It's the only way that I will lose. It is really hard though! Everything (almost!) has carbs. I have to supplement with protein drinks to keep the carb count down. Good luck!

You can do this! You know what to do --- now plan and execute. Congrats on the 100 pound loss by the way!! That's awesome. Think about the other health benefits of why you want to do this also. I find that helps me sometimes. Pick up a 100 pound weight --- that's what you lost!! You so have this!!!

Wow! Awesome --- congratulations. I am aiming for a turkey trot this fall.

Hang in there --- each day and each week will get better (as far as pain and nausea goes) and you will be able to slowly add in exercise which will greatly assist in your health goals. I found it to be overwhelming at first because of the severe nausea I was experiencing. I also stalled a lot (and still do) and lose weight…

Rob - thank you for sharing! Your story is inspirational and realistic and will help so many others in various stages of their journey. Best wishes on your continued successes!

The night cravings are hard --- I can find that I do well all day and then bam! The only things that work for me are to either save some calories and have a small protein drink or protein loaded option like Greek yogurt with a scoop of protein powder mixed in --- or go to bed early.

Sugar free popsicles, sugar free pudding with protein powder mixed in, Greek yogurt with protein powder mixed in and a splenda, low fat cottage cheese, tuna with olive oil mayo, and protein drinks. And yes! That scrambled egg is awesome after being on all liquids!

Thoughts and prayers! Best wishes on your journey. Be patient with yourself during recovery and remember to sip and walk.

Wow!! Awesome. You look wonderful.

Hi, I'm Kim and looking into hypnosis. How many sessions did you go to? How has it helped? For instance, does it help with avoiding trigger foods, or feeling full? Any info would be appreciated! Thanks.

It sounds like you are doing your research which is great! I found that listing pros and cons helped me a lot. I had diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. I was tired all the time and just generally felt unhealthy. If I controlled my blood sugar -- I gained weight. It seemed like a losing battle. The surgery…

I am so glad to hear that I am not the only one!! I have been really struggling and I am about 18 months out now. I find that I get hungry (although honestly, that never really stopped for me) and can eat more than I ever thought I would be able to again. Unfortunately. I seem to lose and gain the same 5 pounds over and…

At six months out --- I was at 30 grams of carbs. Now, at 1.5 years out, I am at 50 grams of carbs. I try to keep fat around the same grams and don't worry about limiting protein. MFP "yells" if you go under 1,000 calories but just ignore it if it is working for you and you are following your program. If you are stalling,…

It was interesting to read this thread because I have been feeling so sad lately and it was beginning to affect other areas of my life. I am about 1.5 years out of sleeve surgery. I just found out from Kaiser that I can "self refer" so I scheduled an appointment with the same psychiatrist that I saw for the mental health…

Congratulations! Your story is amazing and such a wonderful success!!

I have been noticing that most of the powders taste sweet also post surgery. I have tried the Unjury unflavored in Greek yogurt with one Splenda and then I have tried the Unjury chocolate in vanilla pudding (pretty good). I also just tried (today) --- mixing 1.5 scoops of Unjury unflavored with two Crystal Light lemonades…

I had (and still have) a hard time with any meat if it is too dry. Especially since we aren't supposed to drink liquids while eating. You might try a bit of chicken broth with it?

I read your post and it was so familiar! I am about 16 months out of surgery and I found that I can eat way more than I ever thought I would be able to again. I also feel hungry --- something others post that they do not feel since surgery. I had to go back to what worked. If I stay under 50 grams of carbs daily and…

My surgeon advises to keep carbs to 50 g daily or less in order to keep the loss going. That seems to work for me --- hope it helps you.

Wonderful progress and transformation!!

You can do this if you go back to what you know works. I am having to do that right now --- I was sleeved in September 2014. I have been on protein drinks and very limited carbs (try to stay under 50 grams) and it is hard but working. I also upped my exercise to 60 to 90 minutes throughout the day. Best wishes.
