I never logged what I ate before and at first I lost about 10 lbs, then found that I wasn't losing any more. That is when I joined MFP to get an idea of how much I was eating. My focus is not calories, but I'm not answering this to debate what people choose to track (do what works for you). Since tracking what I eat, I've…

Love your story. You are a perfect example of how to make a lifestyle change work while doing the things that you love.

Simple answer: for me. Long answer: I look around me and see the people in my family, friends and co-workers who depend on 'meds' for one ailment or another and are not willing to learn or change anything to address the source of their ailment. They want the easy pill, so they can bury their head in the sand and pretend it…

I think a lot of people tweak their goals from the default settings as everyone is different in what works for them. Some people use the TDEE Calculator for what they believe to be a better calorie goal and they turn off adjustment for exercise as the TDEE value takes that into account. http://iifym.com/tdee-calculator/…

I'm going to be honest as you've asked for the advice. There are a few things I notice in your post. I don't necessarily see procrastination, I see excuses and looking for an easy way out. While you clearly want to lose weight, it doesn't appear to be important enough to you that you are making it a higher priority over…

If I need a fairly quick low-carb meal, blackened chicken salad is my go to meal. I usually vary what I put in the salad; tomatoes, avocado, celery, cheese, olives and top it with cubed, chicken blackened with your choice of seasoning. Sometimes I cook the chicken in olive oil and sometimes in coconut oil. yummy

Try it for a couple of weeks and see how you feel. If you are tired and feel like you are hungry all the time, you may have your calories set to low or need to adjust the other ratios so you are eating foods like nuts that help you feel full. Not sure how you have your carbs, fats and proteins set, but I felt like the…

I get the same 'you don't need to lose weight' comments. It is not about the lbs on the scale, but about where my healthy zone is and I'm not there yet. Heading in the right direction and feel great compared to how I did about a year ago and don't want to go back there.

I'm 46 and it is definitely a whole different ball game to manage your weight and health as you age. Glad for any 40+ friends to work through it together with :)

I'm at 1:45 on the jump rope. I started late, but am doing their World Cup challenge. Did the Hard Core workout yesterday and find the windshield wipers to be brutal. I can send message my email address if you want to 'friend' in the FitStar app.

I don't lift weights, but I do other activities. I have an elliptical machine, take my dogs walking twice a day and train/compete in agility with my dogs (which is basically sprinting). I used to do weights, but really like the bodyweight workouts better.

A) What equipment do you use? Elliptical, pull up/dip station and my feet (walking and agility with dogs) B) Do you use any dvds, insanity, 30 day challenges etc? Tried DVDs and get bored with them...same thing over and over. I now use FitStar app on iPad, which the subscription is a dynamic workout and I love it. C) How…

Now 4...I love FitStar.

I've tried DVDs/videos in the past and have found I get bored with the same exact routine after time. I like the FitStar app which has a premium subscription that changes dynamically each session and as you move up in level. They have some free ones that you can do also to try it out, but those don't change as you…

Looking for MFP friends. I have 9 lbs to go on my quest to lose 20 lbs.
-
I don't know if it burns exactly what they say, but suspect it is a fair assessment. They, of course, are not watching you, so the amount of intensity you put into the workout could be different than the calories they report. The subscription tracks are very dynamic and depending on what level you are at with different…

I love FitStar. How do I add friends by username? I only see email and Facebook as options to add friends.
