Thank you so much for so many really good suggestions. I will try them all, going to delay taking a more serious sleeping aid but will start with Melatonin and also visit my Dr. Notebook is ready and I'll do some exercise in the evening. No IT after 10pm. I am really sorry to read so many of you also have sleep issues. I…

Hey Emily, I'm Ian Well done for coming back, thats the hardest bit, and I think we all have these speed bumps on our journey to achieving our goals. I find a routine really helps and a lot of people say consistency is key to making progress. Will send you an invite for cheers, pep talks or those kick up the backsides (we…

I've had over the years a bike, treadmill, elliptical trainer and all ended up as clothes hangers. The best of them was an Elliptical trainer but i have realised my preference is body weight exercises at home and using great gym equipment in a gym. However my favourite pieces of home gym equipment are: a yoga mat and…

44 here, already lost 31lbs (14kg) aiming to lose another 9-10lbs (3-4kg) and get lean.

I used to have the Tania BC-558 Ironman Segmental Body Composition Monitor. It would give me each limb, water, muscle, body fat, display the record, even metabolic age...the only problem was if i weight myself before and after my morning shower the results were totally different. The results post shower were always better…

Hey everyone, Cheshire here I'm looking to find new friends who are either working towards getting lean and dropping body fat or starting on that part of the journey. I've already lost the main weight I wanted to drop (14kgs) so this is more about toning and tightening everything up. I'm really positive, relaxed and can be…

I loved my fitbit, and still think it was a great buy, until the little usb dongle that plugs into the laptop got knocked and broke (expensive little replacement). I now just use my iPhones step tracker in Health which links to MFP in a similar way. Had no problem with the strap, once you find your preferred notch its just…

Seeking a mentor. About me: I am 44, 180cm and fluctuate around 78kg. So far I have lost 14kgs through cleaning my diet and exercise however I'm now trying to get lean and toned with a reduction in body fat, which I'm finding a greater challenge than losing the initial weight. I mainly do body weight exercises mixed with a…

All you need to do is finish. Treat that as your goal, ignore how much time you walk and how fast you run - thats NOT important for this first 5km. Just be in the moment, enjoy the outside, enjoy the fresh air as it cools you...focus on just keeping your breath nice and steady and love it. It you need something to think…

Hi gang, I just wanted to come back on this and thank you all for your advice. I moved up from 4 to 6 circuits of a routine which included 10 press ups, which I was completing in various incline positions - from kitchen counter to side of bath. I am now finally able to do my first circuit of 10 perfect form push ups on the…

Hi gang, thanks for your support. Definitely not recommending or advising, just sharing what worked for me and well done to you both for such great achievements. My breakfasts include a grapefruit then a shower and get ready then eggs with something. The eggs help a lot with controlling/limiting hunger and snacking during…

One of my tactics, as i work from home or at a desk in client offices is to wait till I have a few calls to make and then go for a walk while I make the calls on the mobile. My mobile tracks my steps and I am so distracted by the calls the step target is just part of my day. I never sit while on the phone, i pace or walk,…

Simply amazing, with a strength of character and commitment, that could be bottled and sold, And kicking *kitten* with those chin ups.

It feels more sore than tender but i really like your idea of doing mountain climbers and the opposite elbow one. I've not really moved my body that much for a while so guess I am just shaking off some of the rust. Thank you so much for the advice, I'll have a go tomorrow and see how it feels and how it goes :)

My goal was to drop from 202.5 lbs to 176 lbs. Target loss of 26.5 lbs. I've lost 17.5 lbs so far, last 9 lbs to go. Then I will review and see if i want to nudge it a little further. And managed to overcome my addiction to peanut M&Ms in the process. We shared some beautiful memories but I've moved on and we are both…

I have thought about skipping days but I find I am happiest when I am in a habit and routine. Also I am hoping and didn't think i was doing anything so intense that would stop me trying each day. Guess I would prefer to reduce the sets or reps but still keep doing it daily. I don't feel tired, just felt like i needed to…

Hey gang Thank you so much for so many really helpful replies, I feel like I understand how to tackle press ups a lot more now. I use the bath as a lower incline step between counter and floor but hadn't thought of the stairs (doh!). I will go through the recommended website, not looked at that one. I will work on the slow…

Thanks sijomial, i'll look up both of those. I do read a lot of the forum although there's so much info out there it gets overwhelming at times.

I might just take your red wine tip :), thanks Rabbit. And you're right, not planning any competition stuff.

Thanks Sabine, I'm a lot more conscious of the importance of hydration so do drink a lot of water. definitely not aiming or wanting to dehydrate.

Nope :) although my confidence is pretty low and it would be nice to feel like I am winning. I know i am on the right road and i will get to my end goal, just wears away when belly fat is clearly the last thing that is going anywhere.

Thanks Silverrose89, really appreciate your positive support. I wish you every success in your goals too, definitely not looking for a short cut as i don't think there are any and i am trying to make this a life style. I do love the knowledge i am gaining from reading the forum. Hanging in there :)

Thanks rabbitjb - before i google dynamic planks - learning what i can from the internet - what would you suggest. While I have been on the weight loss journey for a while by controlling my food in, i'm still teaching myself about good exercises to do at home.
