  • I eat ice cream most days. I'd say it's my favorite food, but I'd say that about pizza and cheese too. For daily consumption: Edy's Slow Churned (usually Peanut Butter Cup) or, my favorite slow churned, Hood's Under the Stars. Yum. If I have extra calories, Ben & Jerry's Chubby Hubby. So damn good.
  • I'm 5'4" and large framed. Pre-kids, at 125-130, I looked too thin (or so said friends). Post-first two kids, I looked pretty good at a muscular 145, so I'm aiming for 140-145 post-third kid.
  • Me too! I have a five month old nursling, plus an almost 6 year old and a 4 year old (the latter nursed until she was 2.5, the former until 13 months). I'm also one of those women who gains rather than loses weight while nursing - I weigh as much now as I did when I delivered, which is 13 pounds more than I weighed a week…
  • My kids are almost 6, 4, and 5 months. I've got about 35-40 pounds to lose, all of which I gained in the past year (i.e., since I was 3 months pregnant - ugh). I'll send you a friend request (and am open to receiving others too!)
  • I really need some accountability. Count me in!
  • As uncool as they are, slow cookers (crockpots) are great for cooking up chicken breast. We will often throw a bunch in before leaving for work in the morning and leave it on low for 6-8 hours (ours turns to warm at the end of the cook cycle). When we get home, we shred it. You can then put it on a salad or in a burrito or…
  • Me too, for much of this. Three kids, a full time job, and no one else who is really working on their weight (my husband would like to lose a few - like 4-5 pounds! - and my eldest should probably not gain much before his next growth spurt). And my kids (aside from the baby, who has no opinions) are picky eaters. I'd like…
  • I'm also in Boston, looking to lose about 40 pounds. I've got three kids (the youngest is 4 months) and miss being able to keep up with them! Feel free to add me :) Kathy
  • I'm in. I lost the weight from kids 1 and 2 back in 2012, but then had kid 3 in March and now have about 40 pounds to lose to get back to what I weighed a year ago. I am definitely one who needs to be accountable. An added bonus: I started a 30 day trial at the gym yesterday, which will get me through most of July. Today,…
  • I had the same question (though my number seemed fine), then read the text below the number. The text explaining the formula notes that it calculated TDEE, added additional calories to account for breastfeeding, then reduced by 15% to get the number it produced, which is what someone seeking to steadily lose the weight…
  • I don't think there's actually a setting - I think you have to search foods and add it as a food (I add it as a snack). This is annoying to have to do daily, though at least it ends up in your recent foods list. I wish there were a setting. Kathy, mom of 3 (5.5, 4, 4m)
  • This post is a bit old now but hopefully the response is still helpful. I don't have allergies but do have exercise-induced asthma. After a bunch of asthma attacks during successive runs, I found that I needed to use my inhaler about 10 minutes or so before a run in order to fend off an attack. After a month or two, my…
  • Hello. I'm Kathy. I live in Boston. I'm a lawyer and mom of 3, ages 5.5, 4, and almost 4 months. Growing up, I hated running. I was a swimmer and very, very fit, but running anything longer than a 50 yard dash made me feel like I was dying. I thought something was wrong with me. It turned out there was - I found out in my…
  • I'm just getting back to running post-kid #3. Frustratingly, I am slower and less fit than I was at 6 months pregnant at Thanksgiving. Starting slow with a 30 mile goal for July.
  • My kids are 5.5, 4 and almost 4 months. I also work full time. I had lost the weight from #1 and #2 before getting pregnant with #3, but now have to lose it again. I am definitely looking for friends in this challenge!
  • I had a miscarriage before my firstborn and was an absolute mess. I gained a whole bunch of weight too. It's incredibly hard. I hear you on the discouragement when planning to get pregnant. I carried a bunch of extra weight between the first two kids, which I lost between 2 and 3. I wasn't at goal yet when we started…
  • I'm sorry you've dealt with IF - that sucks. We definitely know how fortunate we are. My goddaughters were IVF babies, as their folks found out they have a 0% chance of conceiving without assistance. I know how hard it was on them. Your weight loss to date is amazing and super inspiring. Congrats!!
  • How are you liking Insanity in the post-partum period? I did it before #3, but it was well after #2 was born (she was 2.5). I'm not sure how well I'd hold up now and would love to hear your thoughts. Right now, I'm running (much more slowly than before!) and doing some post-partum DVDs (right now, mostly Lindsay Brin).
  • I am super jealous of your long leave :) With my older kids, I had six months, which is way longer than most here, but I'm in a new job now and they only give 12 weeks, and only partially paid. I'll be cheering you on from across the pond!
  • My husband (who also works full time) is a great partner and handles his share around the house. That said, we have no extra help (can't afford it), so mostly we have just been letting things (like tidying) slide. Not ideal, but sometimes you just have to do what you have to.
  • Hi Kristin! I can't imagine having 3 kids in under 2 years - those first few years must have been really tough! And doing it solo now must be super hard too. I'm psyched to share this journey with you!
  • I thought I was the only person who gained weight while breastfeeding and on maternity leave! Congrats on the awesome loss!!!
  • I had my third baby on March 6 (older two are 5.5 and 4) and am, horrifyingly, 3 pounds heavier than when I delivered. The weight seems to have gone from my belly to my thighs. I returned to work last week (ugh), which, while dreadful for most reasons, has at least gotten me back onto a schedule. I'd really like to lose…
  • Just to provide some encouragement for anyone who stumbles on this thread down the road: I had my third c-section in March (and have the flap again and am here to try to get rid of it and the rest of the excess). BUT I was able to wear a bikini without shame last summer, while in my first trimester, despite two prior…
