  • I had a hard time when I started c25k, not being able to jog for a minute. Friends on MFP talked me through it, and I realized I was trying to run too fast. The jog portion is about 1% faster than the walk portion at first :-) With that advice I was able to jog very slowly for a whole minute. I too have what I call micro…
  • I eat the breakfast Timothy Ferris recommends in 4 hour body, and I love it. Carb (ceral and oatmeal) type breakfasts never satisfied me, I always liked eggs and hashbrowns, breakfast sandwich, that kind of heavy calorific thing. So now I eat half a cup of egg beaters with a little salsa mixed in, half a cup of beans (he…
  • You're the second person that recommended Costa Rica to me, hmmm...
  • I'm overwhelmed by the selection I've found online, and I can't think of anyplace in the world I wouldn't want to go, so I guess the only limiting factor is money. My first thought was Peru, but after looking a little, I got scared at how strenuous the trips I found looked. Maybe I should stay domestic for the first one.…
  • I've had plenty of those, lol! I'm looking for planned "excitement" for a change!
  • Aspertame loses it's sweetness when heated past a certain temp, some of the new diet drinks like Coke 0 have Splenda in them which you can cook with. There's so much sugar in cake mix, it may not matter if the aspertame loses it's sweetness, the cola may just be in there for the fizz. As far as the health nut thing, I tend…
  • I've always been tall and thin, average looking, and people generally are really nice to me, chat in stores etc. I have a couple of friends who are, and always have been very overweight, and when I shop with them, I can't believe how different they are treated than I am. They have a hard time getting clerks to help them.…
  • I had a multi-year slump while my hubby was fighting cancer. (He's much better now!) I was so depressed and sad and tired, and I stopped eating right and exercising. When things started stabalizing in my life, I started thinking about getting in shape and losing weight. The sad thing is that I would have been so much…
  • This is kind of off topic, but I've done about 6 workout A's, and I have the hardest time with that damn prone jack knife on the ball. I can barely get on/stay on the evil thing. Does it ever get easier?
  • I know, isn't it awesome?!? I've been struggling for years thinking I was defective, and all along, I was trying to do to much, and giving up because I didn't think I measured up. Let's here it for collective wisdom!
  • Well, you are all officially geniuses. Who knew that you could jog the same speed as you walk? :-) At that pace I was able to do the minute with no problem. I have to admit I felt like I was cheating, but at least I know how all the "minimally fit" out there were able to do it, and I don't feel like such a loser. Woo hoo,…
  • This slower is better thing seems to be the advice of the day. I'm going to go out later when it's cooler and see how that works out. I'll report back!!
  • Thanks for the support everyone. After years of starting and stopping trying to jog, I was really starting to feel "defective". I think I never stick with it long enough, and I've never tried this interval type training before last week. I think it will really get me there, even if I have to start slower than a couch…
  • Hi evilsniffles, love your name! Good luck on your journey, hope you make lots of friends here.

  • I haven't made this no bake cheesecake yet, but it looks yummy to me. http://www.laaloosh.com/2009/07/28/low-fat-cheesecake-recipe/
  • I think when you share a recipe, it only shares the nutritional information and the title, not the ingredients. I notice some people put what's in a recipe, generally, in the title, so you can see if it's what you want when you select it to add to a meal. So you can search for recipes by name in the database, lasagne for…
  • I wouldn't think pounding on a recently injured foot would be good. What else could you do? Swimming possible? If you have to workout at home, maybe some low impact calisthenics or yoga to get you started. How about biking? Sorry you're having this trouble. Historically, something bad always happens to me when I try to get…

  • I say it's an advert too. No friends, no pic, no info. All signs point to advert. Prove me wrong Tsartele!
  • @jennw10, I understand that some people can't taste bitter. Are you one of those? ;-)
  • ALL CAPS CUASE IT'S IMPORTANT!! RINSE THE QUINOA BEFORE YOU COOK IT!!! It's covered with a bitter substance called saponin that rinses away easily. It will taste terrible if you don't do this first. I think this is the only reason Quinoa isn't as common as rice, people can't deal with that step :-)
  • Most gyms offer a free one time orientation/workout setup. Maybe they have that. I'm doing the exercises from the book New Rules of Lifting for Women. I like the free weight workouts, they're short, but initially, they system is a little difficult to figure out. Definitely recommend getting from the library before you…
  • Wow, there are some tall ladies out there!! Just shows how many people there are on mfp, cause I can't tell you last time I met someone taller than me (I'm 6'), and there are at least 3 on this thread who are!
  • It's so interesting the different sizes people are at the same weights... I was about to pop the buttons off my 12s at 182. If I'd bought any new jeans, they would definitely have been 14's. I'm down to 167, and I'm still in the damn 12's but they're comfortable now :-)
  • I'm 6' and my highest weight was 182, just into overweight territory for the first time in my life (I'm 43 yrs old). A few years ago I got down to 135, size 8, size 6 in the right brand, and felt really comfortable at that weight, which is probably right around my high school weight. Problem with that weight was that I…
  • Holy guns Batman!!!
  • I buy bagged salad kits from my grocery store if I'm out and want something healthy. Also, there healthy options at most restaurants if you can be creative...
  • I got a weird one the other day. It was pale green inside, and very watery and bland when cooked. Maybe it wasn't ripe? I'm glad it wasn't the first one I ever had, I don't know if I'd get another! Anyway, my favorite way is to toss it with salt, pepper, feta cheese and chopped walnuts. However much or little you like. If…
  • @EmilyQC, you sound like Rachael Ray. I picture her rolling around in EVOO when the cameras aren't on :-) (Not in a dirty way, in a Scrooge McDuck diving into money way :-)
  • Some healthy fats, but not much due to the calorie density. Not really on purpose, I just feel more satisfied after a pound of broccoli rather than an ounce of walnuts, so I tend to go for the broccoli.
  • I've got one of those, but I didn't know if I should trust those caloric estimates either...
