  • Hi, I am also 5' 0" and I recall losing 4 pound in my first week of MFP (when I weighed 8stone 7 pounds). The following week I lost 3 pounds. I love MFP for all its uses and help, but if I'm honest, when I asked for advice (only two or three times) I did not feel the love (if you know what I mean!) by some of the…
  • Thank you for replies.
  • Hi...you MUST try Schellea (fabulous 50's on youtube) Dont mind the age thing..its for all ages and she has brilliant, manageable workouts that are amazing ( I have no connection with her whatsoever-just love her sessions and advice etc). Her playlist is lengthy so no repetitive workouts...you can do as little as 5 minutes…
  • HI....try Schellea (You tube - fabulous fifties) she is brilliant, and don't mind the 50's title...any age is appropriate and she has lots of variations so you wont get bored doing repetitive workouts all the time. She has certainly helped me with stretch and balance. Hope it helps!
  • Hello RoseJaneNB..I hear your pain my friend. Your message could have been written by me two years ago. I can only tell you what I think (I'm no doctor or expert). You are correct with some of your assumptions YES the menopause can cause weight gain. I was same weight all my life until this hit me. No difference in diet…
  • Hi, You must try to stay motivated, you have worked hard by the sound of it for five weeks....I was always told to try to have all your allocated calories per 24 hours, perhaps that might help, and of course, my first thought was that muscle weighs more than fat....this might be a factor? Tell yourself to keep going and…
  • I found her on You Tube when the weather was wet and I wanted to do my daily 'Lock-down' walk ...I must say, I enjoy them and because there are so many, I can mix them up and not get bored. I think for me, I would tone up and not necessarily lose the pounds, but I am happy with that!
  • Thank you Malted Tea....incontinence not a problem (hoorah), just wondered what other members might be doing. middlehaitch... not feeling the love....!
  • Try to not be so hard on yourself......maybe its the 'nudge' you needed to help you? encourage you even? you wont build Rome in a day, so one day at a time eh? Stay safe.
  • Like many others, I reached target weight on MFP (2014), and have tried to stay within maintenance limits to control my weight. Apart from holidays and the odd wobble, I am still same weight (give or take a pound). I realise that I have a good idea what food contains, and will always opt for low cal or healthy option when…
  • Thank you...kommodeveran and Rod arose. ..yes...thinking about it. I'm not so bloated. ..and don't feel so sluggish .....and I have never taken measurements....you both have made me feel better...thank you
  • BTW.. not eating 1550-1600 per day, hovering around my total allowed.. (350-400 breakfast, lunch 300-400, 4-500 evening meal)
  • HI, thanks for reply, I use machines with calorie information displayed and then use MFP for calorie calculation. Have always applied this way. Yes, I use food scale, and guess you are right about it being slow.
  • Hi.. just reading comments regarding 'Depo' .... as a sexual health nurse, I can confirm this type of long lasting contracteptive CAN indeed cause weight gain...thousands of women do, but not all. It may be a fab contraceptive but unfortunately (and the pharmaceutical company recognises this) it can be an very unwanted…
  • Hello!! I am new too...(day 10) and welcome you!! I agree...tracking food does help you think about what and when you are eating, but MFP is brilliant for also highlighting deficits in your diet....for example, I didnt realise how little calcium, iron and fibre I was having in my diet!! It is pleasing to track this and see…
  • Hi.... you need to aim for your recommended daily amount of calories...everyone knows muscle weighs more than fat, and this can account for slight weight gain, but honestly, try to reach your daily amount and you will begin to lose again. Hope this helps.
