  • Open air practice is great. The only drawback is finding a level space. Last week practicing on a farm in Cornwall I was being watched with interest by two rabbits. No sudden moves to scare them off!
  • I don't use a gym and only exercise a little at home. I attend a tai chi class once or twice a week but mostly I run (10- 25 miles a week) and cycle to and from work (60+ miles a week). I'm probably a bit lacking in strength training but I was after losing weight rather than gaining muscle.
  • I'm a member of the Taoist Tai Chi Society who teach some foundation exercises which I've found useful to practice where space is too limited for a full set. I've been with them for nearly 3 years and it was at a tai chi class that I found that exercise could be enjoyable and encouraged me to get back on my bike and take…
  • Yes, Runtastic also runs android and blackberry.
  • I give drivers who give way to me a wave or a loud nod and drivers who cut me up a not so friendly wave.
  • I completed it nearly 2 years ago and was soon going out for 2 hour runs. Please keep this programme up, you may have the odd day when it's hard to get started and you may find you need to repeat a week or even go back and restart but it will be worth it in the end.
  • My taste is for bitters and old ales so I keep no beer in the fridge unless I get some some Belgian beers in.
  • As opposed to what? Fungus, tree roots, mashed up seeds?
  • I've got my settings on sedentary as I have a desk job so I log my housework (well anything over 10 minutes) as it's stuff I wouldn't do day to day. I do all my cleaning and ironing and most of my shopping at the weekend so weekends are more active for me even without the cycling and running. It may not be 'working out'…
  • Running. I cycle 6 miles to work but I don't think of it as a workout. Tai chi is good done in the open air.
  • Most days. 20-30 minutes of press-ups, dips and tai chi before breakfast, cycle 6 miles to work, a 20-30 minute walk at lunchtime, cyle home. Saturdays is for housework and shopping so not so much formal exercise. Sunday is 20-30 minutes of press-ups etc, a long run (8-12 miles) and more walking. I have a weekly 90 minute…
  • Outside everytime. Even in the winter you're getting daylight. You meet other people, feel the breeze, find new places and observe nature. And it's free!
  • Is Choctaw County in Wales?
  • Just over a year ago I managed 15 but I was barely picking my feet up at the end and it took over 3 hours. I then injured my knee so went after a couple of weeks off went back to 3 and started building up again. I'm up to 12.5 in 2 hours and I think that's a long enough run for my purposes, any longer and I'd need to be…
  • Try reseating the battery.I had trouble with this a few months ago and it took several attempts to get iot to work.
  • I don't lift weights but I have callouses from cycling even though I wear gloves (for grip in summer, warmth in winter).
  • I decided I wasn't going to try and log everything on Christmas day. I had planned a morning run but the weather was too bad so I did a few exercises at home. I didn't eat or drink as much as I thought I would in the end and stayed away from sweets and chocolates. As I have a few days holiday I can afford to exercise a bit…
  • You can go a long way in an hour on a bike even if you're unfit. If you're just riding locally you'll soon get bored so why not look up some local cycling groups (they're not all racers) and find some longer routes. Try googling Skyride, CTC and British Cycling. Make sure you've got some warm clothes especially gloves.
  • we have four cats who are quite indifferent to it but then we have had weeks of Eid, Diwali and Halloween. Yes, people celebrate Halloween with fireworks in my part of London.
  • Au contraire. It celebrates the discovery of the plot and the preservation of the King.
  • Well I saw the doctor and got some Loperidine not antibiotic and his dietary advice was even more drastic - just clear fluids ie water for the next 24 hours. Just when I was looking forward to a bacon sarnie!
  • That was quick! The low fibre approach sounds about right. I've been keeping up the fluids but avoiding fruit although I had some juice a short while ago. I think I'm a bit late on the antibiotics but the doctor, if I'd been able to get an appointment, wouldn't have prescribed them for a virus. Still, it is on the wane.…
  • Oh and I think 2 hours is entirely realistic if you can keep that pace for so long now.
  • When running or cycling I always try to find routes with the minimum of lights. I don't think we have jaywalking laws in the UK, pedestrians can cross on the red so long as the traffic is clear and they're not endangering themselve or other road users, but if it's not I take a welcome break and adjust my clothing or…
  • Well I'm 56 and was 190lb but short so I guess I'm pretty close. Starting Tai Chie arly last year made me realise exercise could be enjoyable so I started cycling to work again (6 miles each way which now takes 30-33 minutes) and also started the C25K programme. It was hard and I had to repeat a couple of weeks and I…
  • 3 hours of Tai Chi at a demonstration after a 50 minute bike ride, followed by an hours bike ride (different route back).
  • Making up for last night now. I have a huge excess of calories even though I feel I have eaten well today
  • Do you want something useful or decorative?
  • I skipped the booze and was in bed by 9! Up now preparing for a 3 hour Tai Chi demonstration at the House of Lords. I can do my boozing tonight!
  • I started off my running with walking shoes and moved into proper running shoes after a few weeks. I found a big difference so recommend you switch as soon as possible. I now use running shoes for walking in so that I can break into a jog if I want although I think if I were going to walk more than an hour regularly I'd…
