Thanx. I'm sorta getting pumped up for this. Feeling good, legs good. I think the carb loading has helped with my last 2 5K runs. Good Luck Poke987. Don't remember if your's is tomorrow or Sunday. Mines Sunday.

3 days ;)

Last run today before Sunday's 1/2. Today I decided to do 5K instead of the recommended 2K because I missed yesterday's 3K. I went a little gun ho today and got a PR for a 5k run 26:30. LOL. It was a little warm out.
-
Skipped my 3K today and doing my last run tomorrow. a slow 5K. and then on to more carb loading LOL
-
forget the rest of your runs this week and concentrate on healing up. Does it need stiches? I wound't run if it's stitched might tear them. if you can't run and determined to compete, maybe walk it. Just completing a 1/2 is a great accomplishment. Godspeed 8)

5k taper run. 29:20. 2 more short runs this week then rest friday/saturday.
-
My course is all pavement. My knees are going to take a pounding, luckily I took Monday off of work. 7:55am start time, ouch, means I eat at like 6am, and up 530am LOL

Ya i'm using my belt due to I have to carry my ID and key and of course my phone with my tunes on it and I use Map My Run to give me live updates on my pace and splits. I find my music helps me out, pumps me up when I feel sluggish.

@poke987 , ya resist the urge to try and keep up with the lead pack at start, I tryed that on my last 10K LOL. Pace your self for a strong finish. @GreatCthulhu and @gabella0603 GREAT F'N job ladies. BE PROUD of such a great accomplishment. Question to all, anyone use a fuelbelt or water belt or just used the race drink…

Last long run. 13K 1:23:30. Lots of traffic on the road early in the morning LOL. Not pushing a 18K+ this weekend. Don't want to wreak my knees. looks like im averaging just under 6:30/Km, not to bad, some splits are under 6min some just under 7min.
-
same here last long run tomorrow. will start carb loading late next week just incase. @gabella0603 , good luck and keep us posted this weekend please. YOU GOT THIS!!

10.13K in 1:05:16. And knees feel great, well for the time being LOL. I think I may have found the reason for my knee pain , possibly bad form when I came back running after 3 weeks off. I noticed I was landing more on my heal, so a heal to toe stride rather than my normal mid foot landing then toe. My mind is becoming…

5k in 29:30 8) I comming back 8) About 1 or 2 min off pace.
-
Oh this weekend, let us know how it went.
-
Thanx guys for the feedback. I'm also thinking of muscle imbalance , so working on strengthening the glutes.
-
tryed my knee brace, didn't help. Working on the glutes this week. i will see on my Wednesday 10k run how it feels.
-
Well i was before my flu but with the 3 weeks off , I guess i should try and ease up on the high mileage. Next Saturday is my last day for a long run before the 1/2. it should be 13k as per schedule. Will keep to my 5k/10k/5k during the week and see how my knee is on the 10k on Wewdnesday. Like I said I ran 21k Every…

Since it was a beautiful day out i ran another 4.5k 31min. Had to walk due to knee. From what I'm researching the pain is on the outside of the knee indicating ITBS. So either I'm not stretching enough or just plain pushing to hard too soon after a long lay off. next weekend is my last chance to do a long run, trying for…

10k in 1:10. About 10 minutes off pace but 5 minutes faster than last weeks. Was hoping to run 21k but my right knee was twitching and didn't want to risk injury. I will probably do a 10k walk tonight just to work on my cardio , walking seems ok but as soon as I pick up the tempo my knee acts up. I've had this before when…

Great job, don't worry about time yet. Just build your endurance.
-
6k today. Breathing was good but HR still up to high had to walk a bit to bring it back down. I think I'm trying to push to hard to early after 3 weeks off. Trying to do the same pace where I left off. maybe I should ease back into it instead of going full bore. LOL
-
skipped 10k today since i had to start work at 430am and was way to tired after work. plan to run 10k instead of 5k tomorrow.
-
the long runs in the Hal Higdons programs are the key. try and do the long distance in the program even if you have to walk it. It builds your endurance. Worry about speed later.
-
Just competing in a 1/2 while being pregnant is an accomplishment all in itself. I admire your strength to compete and to push yourself. that goes for all of you in here, I was all set before the flu put me out for 3 weeks, but I'm fighting back and hopefully be near a 100% to where I left off but we'll see. keep pushing…
-
Just ran 5k...32:30, abit of from my 29ish minutes. Chest starting to clear, but my HR is still way higher than usual, causing a few walking breaks. legs feel good. Breathing is under control just gotta build the cardio up too lower my HR. Slowing comming back.
-
Yep May10 at 7:55am. With my recent flu and lack of training for 3 weeks, my goal time of 2h10mins has probably gone out the door. hoping for 2h30min now unless I can get my cardio back up in the next 3 weeks.
-
My legs are a little sore from my 10k yesterday. Normally I feel nothing but this 3 weeks off killed me and so close to my half 8( 2 more weeks of full training and then its game time
-
Ya legs are feeling good, Just this congestion is effecting my breathing. Usually I can keep my HR at about 135bpm but today breathing heavy I was at like 155bpm but came down near the end of the run as I was able to breath a bit better. Thanx all for the encouragement.
-
well just did 10k. 15mins off pace. not bad for not running for the past 3 weeks. Lungs still congested didn't help, had to walk a lot. 1st 1.5 km felt like i was hacking up a lung lol. But still felt good to get out and run/walk. Knee was acking as expected for not running for 3 weeks and pushing a 10k. May 10th is my…

Attempting a 10k run today, still a little congested, deffinitly not gonna be a record time today LOL.
