Hooray Team! We won again for Week 2! Way to go! I, however, failed as your Fearsome Leader. :grumble: I completely forgot to log my weight on the spreadsheet.....and also never sent out a reminder to others to log their weight. I also did not complete the mini challenge. So many apologies. It was just a crazy week and my…

I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2005 and the endocrinologist prescribed metformin and spironolactone. I lost some weight and my blood work improved slightly but the side effects were not worth it. Plus, I just really hate prescription drugs. I quit taking them after about 9 months. I then totally ignored my PCOS for several…

Sounds fun! If you have plans to continue with cycling, you might want to think about investing in some padded shorts....that'll help alleviate the "tush pain." How's everyone else doing this week?

Also, body shape. The answer is going to be very different for a pear (big hips, thighs, and butt) than a strawberry (wide shoulders, narrow hips). I'm a strawberry and I wore a size 12 when I was in the 180s. I wore 10s in the 170s, and am now wearing 8s at 165. I'm 5'6" and 44 yo.

Total Week 2 = 6.81 miles July 7: 1.63 miles July 9: 2.01 miles July 13: 3.17 miles

And this week's mini challenge....... Most people have a preference for either cardio or strength training and tend to like one type of workout more than another. The challenge this week is to get out of your exercise routine and try something all new to you! Maybe you have a workout DVD you've never done. Or perhaps your…

Do you have an Aldi's supermarket in your area? Their produce is cheap and very good quality. In fact, all their groceries are significantly cheaper than other places, like 20-50% less. I do most of my shopping there! Farmers markets are another great place to shop for produce in the summer. And a secret trick - if you go…

And guess which team was in first place this week? Yep, that'd be us! We had an overall loss of 25 pounds - 12.57%. Hooray Team Pewter!!! That's how we rock it!

Don't forget to log your weekly weigh-in on the spreadsheet by midnight (EST) tonight! If you miss two weigh-ins you are out of the challenge so logging is important! How'd everyone do with their fruits and veggies this week? I do pretty well including them in my meals but once I started trying to hit my specific goals I…

I eat wheat free and low carb (<100g/day) and my meals consist mostly of meat, dairy, veggies, and fruit. I rarely eat anything from a box, can, or bottle (the primary exception being condiments, salad dressings, sauces, etc.). I love to cook and I love to try new recipes so I'm not even tempted by frozen dinners, box…

There are a lot more veggies out there than salad and a lot more meats out there than turkey. Expanding your food choices might be a good place to start (and I don't say that in a sarcastic way). I get recipe ideas from pinterest and I've discovered several food bloggers who cook/eat in a way similar to me so I pretty much…

I dare anyone to top this disgusting little secret...... When I worked as a waitress and bussed tables I would wrap up uneaten food in napkins and tuck it in my apron pocket. Then I would go in the bathroom to eat it. :noway: :embarassed:

Wait. Why didn't I get the memo that July 4th was official "Eat Until You Puke....and Then Eat Some More" day? I barely hit 1300 calories (my usual) AND I ate ribs, shrimp kebabs, and Talenti Gelato. Delish!

I so totally want to be some of you people when I grow up! Some of these distances are just awe inspiring.

I'm totally the opposite.....I could eat fruit all day long but I have to remind myself to eat my veggies. I do like veggies though (especially broccoli, brussels sprouts, asparagus, and beets). About your kids and veggies, you can sneak a lot of veggies in recipes like meatloaf and pasta dishes. Or maybe try use spaghetti…

I have a dumb phone so I only log in via my laptop. If other group members are interested in this idea, go ahead and set it up!

Your goal weight is what you hope to lose over the course of the next five weeks, the duration of the challenge. Good luck!

Everyone has given some great feedback, for both the "yes" and "no" sides of the issue. Since I don't have to register for the race right this very second, I think I'll just give myself some time and see how things progress. I'll definitely keep everyone's cautions and advice in mind. Thank you so very much!

Total Week 1 = 6.31 miles July 2: 1.62 miles (20 min. pace 12:15) July 4: 1.68 miles (20 min. pace 11:55) July 6: 3.01 miles (38.5 min. pace 12:48)

And......the challenge officially starts TODAY! Hope everyone got their starting/goal weights logged on the spreadsheet yesterday! What are you planning to do to kick-off the challenge with a BANG? Let's get super excited about this! This week's mini challenge is all about fruits and veggies. You can use this…

This is great advice, litsy. I never even considered doing the 5K (because why do less when I can do more). But how fun would it be to knock off like 15 minutes from my race time from when I did it in 2010?!?
-
My weirdness is that I have to have an amount of sleep that is in increments of 90 minutes (because that works best with my sleep cycles) so I plan for either 7 1/2 or 9 hours. Most days I have to be up at 4:30am (to be at work by 6am) so bedtime is usually 9pm but sometimes 7:30pm. When I can sleep in until 6:30am,…

I was planning on a 10K, but when I was looking for races I found this 1/2 that is both closer and cheaper than any 10K I could find. Plus, I did a 5K at this race back in 2010 so I know that it is a well organized event with a great course. I'm currently doing a 10K training program which I will complete on August 10 and…

Babyback St. Louis ribs. Shrimp kebabs with zucchini, peppers, and onions. Watermelon. And.....Talenti black raspberry chocolate chip gelato!!! Not a typical dinner. But o so yum.

Safety Not Guaranteed. (It's an indie film that won an award or two but anytime I mention it no one has ever heard of it. I just absolutely love it and watch it obsessively.) Run Lola Run (German film that is seriously mind twisty.) The Professional (Jean Reno. Gary Oldman. Natalie Portman. Fantastic plot, great acting,…

My recommendation is to buy both clothes you can enjoy now and a few smaller sizes for motivation. Personally, I've learned not to invest too much in smaller sizes. Often I discover once I'm actually able to wear that size, the cut of the item of clothing is wrong or something and it just doesn't look right even though it…

Hi Team Members! Just wanted to remind everyone that the challenge officially starts on Saturday! Make sure you enter your starting weight and goal weight on the spreadsheet by Friday. If you entered a starting weight when you joined the challenge, you may want to edit it if your current weight is different. And remember…

I'd like to try this challenge. I'm working on a 10K training program and most of the workouts are in minutes, not miles, but I roughly calculated it as 38 miles. So, that's my goal for July!
