Hi everyone. This is a continuation from the June Running Challenge.
http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1301079-june-running-challange

Anyone can join in. New & Old. Here the details from last month that applies here again.

Anybody want to join me for a running challenge? Set a goal here and mark it every day here. You can post your progress by creating a ticker at http://www.tickerfactory.com (If creating ones seems difficult, then don't let that stop you. Just type in your daily miles here.)

You can run, walk, or do treadmill. Just be consistent. I am setting a goal for 160 miles. Don't let that worry you. Some can do 25, 50; whatever you like. We can help motivate each other. What do you say? if you are new to running, set a low goal.

You can set your goal now but wait until July 1 to log your runs.

Info on tickers since I know there will be questions. Sign up for an account http://www.tickerfactory.com and create your ticker.
Then you need to update it after you do a run and post it here. Here is what you will need to do.

After setting up your ticker, you will need to make note of the weblink they give you so you can return. An example would be:

http://www.tickerfactory.com/exercise/w6K1EiX/ <<<< the last part will be a part of the image link (explained below) that will be supplied to you after you initially create your link.

When you return to TickerFactory with the weblink, go to your settings page. Make sure you type your pin in that you set when you created your ticker account.
Then where it says "Your current cumlative value, there is an add button. Just add what you just did and the cumlative value automatically changes. Then hit next.

Now after you added your new miles (or km's) to your ticker you need to post it here.

After you hit next, it will give you a bunch of codes suggesting on how to display your ticker.
Use the one at the bottom where it says Direct Image URL:

It will look something like:
http://tickers.TickerFactory.com/ezt/t/w6K1EiX/exercise.png

To display that correctly in your post, make sure you place the img tags around that link. So it will look, (removing the spaces in the img tags):

[ img ] http://tickers.TickerFactory.com/ezt/t/w6K1EiX/exercise.png [ /img ]

^^^^^^^ Don't forget to remove the spaces between the brackets. ^^^^^^^^^^

So it will look like this after you post:

exercise.png

Some key things to pay attention to when posting your ticker.

1: Use the link that ends in .png
2. Remember the [ img] and [ /img] tags go in between the link
3. remove the spaces in the img tags before posting
4. YES, there is a / in the second /img tag

Also, don't forget to join our group.

There you find lots of good info, and it's a place where everyone can talk to each other for further motivation. It's also a place to find help when there is a problem with this thread.

Good luck! And happy running (or walking or treadmilling, ect). If you have any trouble or have questions, please feel free to PM me.

Stan

July s/b interesting. Lots of travel which can be a blessing or a curse. But with a holiday weekend hope to get off to a good start so I can not have to play catch up,

Barring the two horrible 'I" words, I'm going to shoot for 100+ running again despite the super crazy Florida summer heat.

Well i sat down and added up the miles in my training program for July. I know how many miles it is. I feel uncomfortable writing down that number. I'm going to low ball it because i keep thinking I'm going to be struck down with a summer cold or something. My declared goal is 140 miles... it should work out to more than that.

I'm a little hesitant about my goal for July, but I'm going to go for 40 running miles. I have been taking 2 rest days per week. This goal is going to force me to eliminate one of those rest days. But, I'm going to try it, as I attempt to move running back into a more prominent role in my exercise routine. We'll see how it goes.

I'd like to try this challenge. I'm working on a 10K training program and most of the workouts are in minutes, not miles, but I roughly calculated it as 38 miles. So, that's my goal for July!

Since I'm going to have my wisdom teeth yanked sometime this month I'm going to stick to my goal of 40.

I'm hoping to finish up June tomorrow!

I am in the middle of a C25K, do I have to calculate the mileage actually running/jogging, or just use the entire mileage for the running/walking of my daily workout?

For this challenge, running and walking both count. So you can include both (your total).

Since I blew past my original goal of 25 miles last month and hit 40, I'll say 50 miles this month.

Newbie here! I've ran off an on over the past few years, but never consistently and never gotten far over that 5k mark. 4 miles has been my max! So taking into consideration some work travel that will make running difficult, I'm going to start with a 30 mi goal.

Not a newbie to running or challenges. But I've been slacking. Based on my schedule and goals...I'm going to try for 55 miles in July.

My wisdom teeth are coming out mid month and the surgeon and pharmacist say I can't exercise on these meds so my revised goal for July is 20 miles. I was really hoping to work on my pace this month. Sigh.

Just made my June goal of 50. Setting it at 60 for July! Starting training for a half marathon so gotta kick it up!

I'm just getting back to running post-kid #3. Frustratingly, I am slower and less fit than I was at 6 months pregnant at Thanksgiving. Starting slow with a 30 mile goal for July.
