Good to see you baconslave! Nice post. You said it all. :) OP: Some people find taking chromium picolinate and L-glutamine to be helpful with sugar cravings.

Never give up, matey!

Hi :) I bought a breath ketone meter (Ketonix.com). I've found it to be very reliable. I've done some parallel testing and compared values with some others (older model) to determine relative values to blood/beta-hydroxybutyrate. My values on my "blog" here on MFP: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/PatchEFog My diary is…

You don't seem to have much logged, so I can only go by what you've logged in your diary. Alcohol of any type, regardless of carb count, can and will stop ketosis/fat burning while the body takes care of removing the toxin. This can throw your body off for days while it recovers. I went low carb then ketogenic at the end…

Hi Rene :) I don't do SB, but saw you on the other LC board. I was going to direct you over here, but I see you already found it AND Sabine. Awesome! Good luck in your weight loss journey! Hope to see you around. :)

Not sure if diet sodas effect my losses. I couldn't seem to get past the weird yucky feeling in my stomach after drinking them, so I just skip them. It's too bad because it would be helpful for variety. It seems to be a very individual thing.

70%F, 22%P, 8%C After calculating my protein for lbm and adding veggie carbs to keep in optimal ketosis for fat burning, this is how they work out for now.

Unfortunately, blanket statements like this go unchallenged by moderation. Puzzling how that works.

Me. Bigtime calorie counting.

You don't want to believe it, that's fine, but others do believe the studies and have seen first hand that they drop MORE weight while on a keto diet. I do a keto restricted calorie diet. As stated previously and on many occasions now, calories do matter but they are not everything. I didn't say you were promoting a low…

It doesn't have to be reduced calorie and having hunger either. I know you make it your crusade and life's work to constantly dump on keto people and threads but how about you give it a freaking rest? It isn't supportive and it isn't accurate. Since you don't know about keto and have obviously never bothered to try it,…

I don't have diabetes. I do intermittent fasting (eating window) on the alternate days I eat (up days). I eat on Sun/Mon/Wed/Fri and fast Tue/Thu/Sat. I started with an eating window and quickly went from that to alternate day fasting secondary to the health information I learned regarding fasting. Now I know I will…

My intent was to give you background should you encounter others of the various low carb genre so you understand the nuances of the plans. It helps to understand where everyone is coming from when we speak of 'low carb'. Low carb means a lot of things to a lot of different people. As for not pushing my way of eating, I'm…

First, Atkins didn't talk about macros. He talked about counting carbs and that calories can matter. The goal of Atkins Induction is to get into ketosis to control appetite/hunger, lose water weight and give a mental boost that the way of eating can work. Atkins then suggested OWL as the next steps and extended induction…

Exactly, especially the minorities like black beans and ketoers and those who don't do sugar and those who 'eat clean'. I wash my stuff, so I eat clean all the time! I don't really do black beans, but hey.. I've got a trifecta-o'-hate from most here for the other three! YAY me!

Unfortunately, this generalization is not true for everyone.

dcristo213: Good for you! I've seen people make nachos with pork rinds, too!

Apparently, a lot of people find a reason, so I guess "no reason" isn't at all accurate. http://www.snack-girl.com/snack/black-bean-blender-brownies/

I get some of the BEST recipes from threads like this!!! Thanks!

That looks so awesome! Please post recipe source next time! Yum!

They're supposed to work well for "breading" things if you grind them up. Check your bags though because some of the flavored pork rinds DO contain carbs (BBQ and some other flavors). I try to get Rudolph's brand of plain pork rinds (due to availability) because they don't add MSG - and I am sensitive to it.

Yes, they work. My husband isn't a squash fan but will eat zucchini - go figure. We've done it with zucchini. Be careful because those cutter things are sharp. Use the guard thing... then just discard or cut the remainder and don't do like I did and try to cut it all in the Veggetti. *sigh*

I really can't personally touch grains secondary to my own issues, but The Great Low Carb Bread Company is supposed to make some wonderful stuff. I haven't seen it in stores anyplace, but I know there are places you can order it online. There's also a "Joseph's Lavash Bread" that is popular and reportedly available at some…

Always log my veggies because I keep a close eye on my potassium and my carbs had been very low, so I got used to counting things like lemon juice and onion/onion/spices I add to things.

Both my husband and I have eaten the Pasta Zero noodles quite happily with no impact on losses.

Ghee is nothing more really than clarified/drawn butter. You heat it on the stove to cook out the milk protein and strain it. I put mine in a Pyrex in the microwave to melt it and separate it out. When I refrigerate it there is milk protein at the bottom (liquid) that I just drain and then blot the solid with a paper…

Without actual testing, there's no way to know what your body is doing with those macros. KetoStix sometimes aren't reliable for a number of reasons. http://ketopia.com/why-you-need-to-stop-worrying-about-the-color-of-your-ketostix/ Breath testing is a little better (though I've found it to be awesome for the one time…

I'm sure it's been run out of the big stores after thorough demonization. ;) We live semi-rural but our IGA has non-hydrogenated. Coconut oil (the plain non-hydrogenated variety) LouAna works well too (I buy it at Walmart). It isn't made by leprechauns organically, but it is non-GMO and isn't "virgin" but also doesn't…

Mark's Daily Apple (one of many posts http://www.marksdailyapple.com/healthy-oils/#axzz3D41gLYvV) and Paleo Hacks (several paleohacks.com) Both have a lot of additional information... so do many other Paleo sites. Depending on how far you want to go down the rabbit hole, there's the opening. ;)
