Remember that he, and all the feelings that go along with him, are your past. Your future is full of the bright confident feelings you had earlier.

What you are doing is what success looks like. People who lose weight and successfully keep it off usually go through the same pattern you are experiencing now. The Weight Loss Registry, which keeps track of people who lose weight and keep it off, reports that "Most registry participants (90%) reported previous attempts at…

I have the Fitbit One, so swimming with it is out. I don't use it for weight lifting, because it only catches steps and weight lifting has few steps, but, lots of calories burned. Now I just have to figure out how many of the calories fitbit shows I can eat. I have it set for one pound a week, but, I think that gives me…

Any thoughts?

I was diagnosed late February this year and started on medication several weeks later. Before the medication, I was very lethargic and even with exercise and strict calorie watching I gained 6 pounds in a year. Since March, I have lost 18 pounds (maybe more, my weigh in is tomorrow). So for me it made it huge difference.…

Thanks! I will check them out.

Congratulations! You must be on cloud 9! You are inspiring. In March, I got the news that my A1C was 5.7 (the low end for prediabetes). This has spurred me on to kick up my weight loss and exercise since then. In July I'll get my next reading. I am hoping to match your good news. In the meantime, you are a great…

Wow! You look terrific. You have inspired me to check out the Netflix documentaries. Any suggestions?

No reason for disgust or feelings of defeat. Progress doesn't happen in a straight line. You are ahead of where you were. You know you can do it. And you know that eating out is currently a problem. So you can go back to what you were doing and tweak the process by rethinking the eating out piece. Here are some ideas: 1.…

That amount of calories would put me off too. I find that by doing my own cooking I can frequently eat something where the packaged variety would be too caloric. For instance, someone above talked about how a quarter cup of granola is 240 calories. I make my own which is delicious and only 117 calories per quarter cup. It…

It depends on the person and the workout. MFP doesn't know how intense your time on the elliptical was. For me the MFP estimates were higher than the estimates on my elliptical, which was higher than the estimates on my pedometer. So I did a couple of workouts with my heart rate monitor and found that the numbers from my…

It may not be your pedometer. I find that the MFP calorie counts for exercise are too high. But, I have the Omron HJ-112 and love it. It is inexpensive and easy to use. The only problem is the clip sometimes falls off, but there is a leash so it doesn't fall to the ground.

I have it and it is very comfortable.

I agree with shannashannab, the government should stop subsidizing corn production. This is a big reason that Americans are eating way too much corn and corn products.

I find that even when you can get a calorie count that works the food is so insubstantial that I don't stay satisfied. If I am on the road I prefer to pack my meal, look for a healthier place like Panera or just buy some cheese, crackers, fruit and nuts.

What do you like to eat?
-
I also am kind of a foodie. I love cooking,, and eating, of course. I don't believe we have to give up any of our favorite foods. We just need to fit them into our calorie counts. With portion control and some changes in how we prepare them, we can have just about anything!

Yes. Yes. Yes!!

You have my sympathy. I have been there. Exercising can help. But, what got rid of 95% of my headaches was botox. You may want to give it a try. If so, have it done by a doctor who does it for migraines, not one who does it for cosmetic reasons. It changed my life.

Bumblebums has a great point: I have wondered why I dislike the treadmill so much and I think this is it.
-
I am the same as you, walking and the elliptical work better for me than the treadmill. I hate the treadmill.

Can you bake and give it away? My husband is part of a baking group at work. Every week someone brings in a home baked treat. This way he gets to bake, but, doesn't have the temptation around the house.

Wow! Great accomplishment--the distance and the speed. I love your attitude.

I take one day off per month to eat whatever I want. I don't go that crazy. But, I have found that I can't eat the food I used to eat. If I do, I am sick the next day. So I usually end up eating one treat meal, a dessert and just enjoy not counting calories the rest of the day. Tomorrow is my day off. I plan on eating…

Me too, I also boycott Walmart. I do strength training at home. Get some books from the library. It can be cheap.
-
I also switched to the Health o meter after getting lots of bogus readings from a variety of digital scales. I don't mean for this to sound like an ad. I just think that weights are more reliable than electronics.
-
Congratulations! You look a lot younger now.

I had a lunch with a friend of mine, who was on the Atkins diet. She was eating a brick of cheese for lunch and told me I would never lose weight because I was eating carrots!! Apparently, carrots have too much sugar.
