Shopping for clothes is a lot more fun now.. Being a model of healthy living for my daughters. Several of the older people at church gush over how well I've done--I know that if I slack and revert, they'll notice. A few of my friends have said that my success has motivated them to get healthier as well. Being able to move…

I already got my walk in this morning, because I knew the rest of the day would probably be rainy and certainly be busy, and I didn't want to miss it!

Great attitude! I'm trying to look at my stress as an opportunity to remind me that I need to get out there and walk to manage it, because otherwise it starts to manage ME, and I eat like a crazy person.

Your doctor is wrong, period. I've lost well over 100 pounds without surgery, and I know there are several others here that can say the same. Is it hard? You bet, but so is surgery! I've had to have a couple medical procedures this past year (removed a lymph node & put a plate in a broken arm), and they were miserable. Why…

(raises hand) Me. I've slowed down since the beginning, but am still working my way down. Healthy food--not too much--and regular walks.

http://www.npr.org/blogs/health/2012/05/07/152184370/even-a-small-slowdown-in-obesitys-rise-would-save-big-money Slowing the rising rates of obesity in this country by just 1 percent a year over the next two decades would slice the costs of health care by $85 billion. Keep obesity rates where they are now — well below a 33…

I make no claims as to which is more effective, but I can say that my weight loss is from walking (& eating better, of course). I never run, but I love to walk and do it as often as possible.

I started at 349 a little over a year ago. You are in EXACTLY the right place. Remember, it takes time and perseverance, but it's possible and SO worth it.

I lost about 80 pounds on WW (at work, so it was free) in 1997. Then I quit doing it (after about a year) and gained it all back, plus some. I lost about 100 pounds on WW online in 2005. Then I quit doing it (after about a year) and gained it all back, plus some. Right now, I don't want to pay for something I can do on my…

Can't see your diary, so it's hard to be specific. Maybe you should eat something more substantial for lunch, or plan out a healthy snack (which could include chocolate). As for the exercising, it's never a waste. It's flat out a good thing, even if it doesn't negate a binge. Don't be so hard on yourself that it leads to…

Not just the first time, but the first and second times. I lost a ton, got about to where I am now, and just gradually lost motivation and gained it all back, plus some. I never did fad or quick fix diets, and considered it a lifestyle change, but didn't stick to it for maintenance. I remember trying to lose again in the…

I started a little over a year ago, at 349. I still struggle (lost less than 10 pounds since January this year), but I'm not giving up!

I'm an old fart! We used a CB one summer in the 70's driving from Michigan to Idaho. My Dad was Leadfoot, I was Bookworm and my brother was Little Britches. I don't think my mom had one--she didn't get into it.

I REALLY need this. I've gotten terribly off track in April.

No tattoos here, though I do regularly get henna designs. I can't imagine any design I'd be happy with for the rest of my life, so the henna works out just right.

Add lime juice & a little sweetener, then crumble a graham cracker on top: Key Lime Pie!

I'm in the same place right now. Lots of stress - walking = binge + binge + binge. Not an equation I like. I need to deal with my stress and get back to walking, or I'll end up back where I started.

I had a piece of tilapia with Cajun seasoning, some baked sweet potato fries, and steamed green beans. Not super exciting, but tasty.

Refried beans with a string cheese shredded on top, topped with sauteed red onion, orange pepper & mushrooms (can't believe I forgot to pick up more zucchini, or that would have been on as well). Topped with two fried eggs. 425 calories of yum!

The instructions themselves admit that there will be a loss of energy. Why would you want that? Instead of going with a complicated gimmick, how about just planning some healthy, balanced meals? It doesn't have to be hard.

I started at 349 just over a year ago, and joined MFP a few weeks later. Now I'm slowly approaching the 199 mark and beyond. It's totally possible, and you feel so much better!

So glad I read this post--I'm having a really hard time relearning how to jump rope, but will give this a try again!

I have both the Cook This, Not That cookbooks--they're great!

Aldi for basics: flour, sugar, eggs Produce market for--duh--fruits & veg, but also pasta, good bread & canned tomatoes Meijer for stuff I can't get elsewhere: A1 steak sauce, low sodium soy sauce, sugar free applesauce, parchment paper, etc. I'd love to go to Trader Joe's, but there isn't one near me. I can't stand…

When I first met my husband, I thought, "he's really cute--too bad he's too young for me." There's just over two year's differences between our ages, but he loves to give me static about being older. He'll tease me about being in college while he was still in junior high & such, but it's just silly. My sister in law is…

I had really severe gall stones when I was pregnant with my older daughter (just turned 13)--so severe that I got pancreatitis and had to be induced so I could have really strong antibiotics. I had it out a few months later. I've had occasional heartburn since then, but I managed to gain all my weight without it, and would…
