  • Greek yogurt with blueberries, pecans, hemp hearts, and lime zest: about 300 calories, 100% yum.
  • Breakfast: throw some (already cooked) in a pan with some olive oil, cook for a bit, stir in some spinach to wilt it, add a clove of minced garlic, let it all cook for a bit, then top with a fried/poached egg and some Parmesan cheese. Ham or bacon is optional but yummy. Veg for breakfast = win.
  • I started at 349. I lost almost 150 pounds, then gained almost 75 back. I'm now working on getting back to a healthy weight. Reading the success stories here really does help, but don't compare yourself to anyone else! Set a small goal to start, like 10% of your total body weight. Also, set daily "behavior" goals, like…
  • I love Aldi, but I frequently make an extra stop for fruit & veg at the produce market half a mile further down the road after I've done my basic shopping. That said, sometimes I just don't have the time or energy to make that extra stop, and there is a lot of fresh produce at Aldi that I do get. Yes, sometimes it spoils…
  • I HAD lost 150 pounds, but have gained way too much back! I'm with you--it's time to start taking care of myself again!
  • Redford here!
  • My favorite thing to do with the crockpot is cook chicken (the skin comes out flabby & disgusting and not a temptation at all, which is a plus in my book), then take the meat off the bones and throw the bones back in the pot with carrots, onion, garlic, celery, peppercorns, a couple bay leaves and some water. Let it cook…
  • I had it for breakfast this morning, along with sauteed mushrooms & onions, a little leftover ham and fresh spinach (wilted in the pan), some Parmesan cheese, and two fried eggs. The key is to squeeze out as much water as possible before it goes in the pan. 325 calories of yum!
  • I've been doing kind of a hash with eggs on top. I had been putting it over an English muffin, or throwing potatoes in, but I've got a new twist: spaghetti squash! I started with some diced onion and sliced mushrooms in a saute pan that I sprayed with oil. I let that saute, then added a couple handfuls of cooked spaghetti…
  • Find a copy of The Insulin Resistance Diet by Cheryl Hart. http://www.amazon.com/Insulin-Resistance-Diet--Revised-Updated-Fat-Making-Machine/dp/0071499849/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1346679268&sr=1-1&keywords=insulin+resistant+diet Good info on balancing carbs with protein. I'm not diabetic, but both my mom and dad…
  • I reward myself for hitting exercise goals by getting more music for my iPod. It's a circular thing, because I wouldn't walk nearly as much without the music!
  • It's exercise for me, too. I ONLY listen to my iPod when I'm walking, and it's full of music that always keeps me going, even if I'm not going very fast. Last summer, I had one very rough month, and I spent a lot of time out walking. I found that if I walked long enough (sometimes to the point of exhaustion, it felt), then…
  • Burn Notice, Suits, then (recorded) Project Runway. That's if I manage to stay awake to the end!
  • Qdoba Naked Pulled Pork Mango Taco Salad
  • I just finished some cheese tortellini with blanched broccoli, tomatoes, red onion, light balsamic vinaigrette, and fresh basil for my lunch. Sometimes I use bulgur wheat (love that stuff), but I wanted to use up the tortellini.
  • Nope, no secrets. Just eating right (good carbs, good fats, lots of protein, lots of fiber, watch the salt), with occasional splurges, and plenty of walking. Oh, and PATIENCE. It doesn't happen overnight, or in a week, or in a month, or in a year. It happens for the rest of your life, so get used to it.
  • When I first started (Feb '11), I got a Wii Fit Plus, and did a lot of walking with it, until it warmed up enough to walk outside. I don't do much with it now, because I greatly prefer walking outside. But every little bit helps, and if that's what's working for you right now, then WORK IT!
  • Black Bean Salad: black beans, corn, tomatoes, peppers, lime juice & olive oil. French Potato Salad: steamed red potatoes, steamed green beans, red onion, diced ham, Italian dressing. Bulgur Wheat + protien + steamed vegetables Fried rice (heavy on the vegetables, light on the rice)
  • Mine also needs to be resized, but I don't want to do that yet, since I'm still losing weight, so I'm wearing it on my middle finger.
  • I had two eggs & one egg white scrambled with red onion, mushrooms & spinach. A little Parmesan cheese on top = yum. Sometimes I have it over an English muffin and/or with some deli ham, but I'm having a BIG dinner, so I cut it back a bit.
  • eggs Fage 0% Greek yogurt fresh spinach (mostly to go with my eggs in the mornings) whatever fresh fruit/veg looks good that day.
  • I've lost almost 150 pounds doing nothing more than walking and eating better. I have no interest in joining a gym. Congrats on making better choices for yourself. Keep it up! Remember that this is about your health overall.
  • I'm 5'11"-ish, and started at 349. I'm still a work in progress, slowly getting to 175. I'm at about 200 now, and there is a definite difference. I'm complete rubbish at posting photos on the message boards (yes, I've seen the tutorials, thanks), but there are a few pics on my profile that show the difference.
  • Glad things are going better now--welcome back!
  • I can't say it any better than this! I've been working on my health since February of 2011, and and slowly getting to where I want to be. It takes time, but time passes anyway, so we might as well be doing what we need to be healthier and happier!
  • Not getting a Peanut Buster Parfait with my husband & daughter. This is the first splurge I've turned down in about a week, and it was hard.
  • chocolatecoveredkatie.com 400caloriesorless.com skinnytaste.com Not always for baking, but great ideas all the time!
  • I started taking German in 9th grade, and took it off & on through high school & college, enough to minor in it. Got my Secondary Ed certificate in English & German, and now teach it part time (mostly to people & their families who are being transferred over there).
  • Falling off the wagon isn't the problem. We all do that. I did it Friday, massively. The problem is staying down. It's cliched but true: every day really IS a new chance to decide how you're going to live your life and how you're going to treat yourself. So--are you going to stay down there and keep treating yourself like…
  • You don't need a "kickstart." Really. I read through the whole plan, and the reason people lose such a dramatic amount is that they aren't eating very much! Fruit is great, but it isn't enough to sustain you all by itself. You know how to do this and be healthy. Eat some carbs, some protein, lots of fiber. Drink water. Get…
