Back to the original post: You mention you want to lose a certain amount of weight per month. What is that goal? You should be able to get into a rhythm and then stay there to consistently lose month to month. I lost 11 lbs every month for 6 months.. Once I found my "net calories" (calories - exercise) I knew where I…

The British Dietetic Association named the paleo diet as among the five worst celebrity-endorsed diets of 2015, saying it risks being "unbalanced, time consuming, [and] socially isolating" and so "a sure-fire way to develop nutrient deficiencies". A ranking by U.S. News & World Report, involving a panel of experts,…

I was 237 and just wanted to get to 200... Made that easy and kept going. Got to 169 and decided to put a little weight back on. So the limit is simply where you want to end up

Good goals, welcome, and GOOD LUCK! My first goal when I started was 10K steps a day. Almost a year in, and I still do it everyday.. It has become a habit (a good one for once) :)

Based on the fact that MFP is a little generous on Exercise calories burned (even if you don't eat them back) and the fact that most people miss a calorie or 2 during the day, I think 2lb a week is a safe bet. I had mine set there all the way to goal weight

Detox/Cleanse Diet: lower in calories; cut out refined sugars, soda, packaged foods and unhealthy snacks, sodium, alcohol, and anything cooked. Encourage lots of fruits, vegetables, water, and tea. Remove all processed foods from your diet.

30 to 35 lbs people will start to notice. 50, they really start to notice! Good job! Keep it up.

T R O L L If it has been said once, it's been said a million times.

I left the % at MFP default. Set activity level to moderate, and workout days to 4. Did 10K steps a day (to meet the moderate setting) did gym 5 days a week (One more than my setting), and stayed under base calories (It worked really well) But MFP is generous with earned calories, so if you eat them all back, chances are…

Distance: 6 miles Duration: 00:87:00 Pace: 14:30 / mile Calories Burned: 635 Calorie Burn Rates: 105.88 / mile 438.1 / hour 7.30/ minute (For this i used 140lbs and the weight of the runner)

I think 100 cal per mile is pretty close as a sanity check, regardless of speed. On runner world calc: at 170lbs, 1 Mile / Any Speed = 129 cal. http://www.runnersworld.com/tools/calories-burned-calculator

I walk with a woman who has long strides, like a gorilla. Our walk is around 2 miles and her phone shows 3900 steps and 1.9 miles and mine shows 2.1 miles and 4400 steps... But we both got out and walked. I have been doing 10K step a day for the last year in addition to anything else I do (Gym / Running) so the accuracy is…

Keep at it.. Do 2 min, then try 3... in no time you will doing 15 minutes, then 30. Your heart rate will benefit too! When I first started on the elliptical (setting 1) my resting heart rate was 85-90 Now, its 50 Dr. said: Its good, don't stress it (I thought it was too low) Good job and don't give up !!

You are doing fine at -2lbs per week, why change anything. Not sure why you want to stop at 160.. but maybe you are 7' 3"...

Just download a free pedometer for your phone. I use one called Pacer. It syncs automatically to MPF. and did I mention free? When I started, my goal was 10K steps a day tracked on that app (Pacer)... that was 68lbs ago. So its a good start. Welcome and good luck!!

Hey, as long as there is an excuse for not making any progress: People will use it

Skin is only 2mm thick (avg) so the pinch test works anywhere. If you pinch and have more than 4mm, that's fat. And most living people have more than 4mm, so that's not a goal, its just what skin alone would be.
-
And you are young, so add some muscle, skin adapts, presto. WINNER

From some dumb article: The Problem Isn’t Always Loose or Excess Skin While there are legit cases of excess skin after weight loss, what many people think is loose or excess skin is actually just excess subcutaneous (under the skin) fat. This fat is soft and jiggly and easily mistaken as skin. And in cases of major weight…
