  • The only way I can eat it is when I make it into Kale chips. Otherwise I am a spinach girl. Wish I did like it more.
  • Zumba is my favorite class- but I also love lifting weights! I do a large variety of classes: kickboxing, piloxing, Tabata, Yoga, Water aerobics,Aqua Zumba and muscle conditioning classes. My gym does not charge extra for classes and there are over 100 classes offered each week, so I have plenty of great classes to choose…
  • I have been told my several people this week that I inspired them to hit the gym. I also was able inspire a social group I belong to change some of our social events from drinking/food events to doing a few fun 5k's.
  • ^^^ This, plus arms. But I think I have 8 chins.
  • 4 peeps
  • I went a bit crazy Saturday night. Was at a social event and had 4 tall Summer Shandy's- which totaled over 1060 calories. I munched on a few of the fried foods they ordered. Then when I left the event, I ran through Taco Bell. I know the healthy options, but chose to do the Mexican Pizza and pintos-n-cheese. Then when I…
  • Oh honey- you have 2 abusers, your husband and your boss. Of course you would be depressed and have no self confidence- who wouldn't? You are more normal than your realize- and there are thousands of people in similar situations who have overcome their hells. It may not feel possible at the moment, but it happens every…
  • My 2 favorite salads are: *Spinach, Strawberry and goat cheese (so flavorful, no dressing is needed) *Grilled Buffalo Chicken (I make my own low calorie blue cheese to use on the side when my mouth needs cooled off-I like the combination of spicy sauce with cool lettuce) Here are the ones that I plan on making over the…
  • Ran to Old Navy today to get a pair of skinny chinos. Grabbed the size 16 I have been wearing for the past 2 months and decided to grab the next size down to see if I could even pull them up over my hips. Well, not only did the 14 pull up over my hips and fit perfectly...I was even able to try on the next size down, a 12,…
  • I agree with the advice on seeing a doctor. Another thought is that since you are only a month post op and have autoimmune disorders- your cortisol levels are up and it is hard to lose weight when that happens. I also have several autoimmune disorders (including Hashi's) and I will not lose an ounce when under stress (ie:…
  • I hear you about the prednisone- I am on my second round of it over the past month. I have been on and off with it for years due to autoimmune issues. The same advice holds true for us also- get a scale and weigh every single item you place in your mouth, exercise and keep your calories as a deficit. I know for me, also…
  • Same here. I had to bite the bullet and hire a trainer for a few sessions- I needed the accountability to show up to the gym. After 1 session- I found my motivation- even at 6 or 7 in the morning- Ive never been a morning work out person before.
  • I do zumba 2-3x a week with an instuctor who is in many of the Zumba videos- so super intense and I bellydance each week (in a troupe and perform- so at an intense level). That being said, it helps to burn calories and there were slight changes in the hip area when I started to do Zumba. But I saw more results in a much,…
  • Do it! I too was hesitant on starting when I still have a lot to lose- I completely regret not starting sooner. In the few short weeks, the transformation I am seeing in the mirror and how my clothes fit is amazing. I realized I had to get over the number on the scale-and that is not a number anyone has to see. But they do…
  • I have two! 1) This weekend at Zumba I was getting annoyed that I had to keep pulling up my pants nonstop because they were falling off- it dawned on me that my workout clothes are now too big! 2) I keep staring at myself today in every reflective surface that I walk by- my stomach/waist is so much smaller.
  • Congratulations! Your post was a slap in the face when I saw that you started the same time I did last year- except you stuck to it. I faultered in late Fall and through winter. To think- I could be where your at today if I was a disciplined as you. Bravo! I admire your focus.
  • I'm in! Please add me! Thanks for starting this- I love challenges, keeps me motivated.
  • Another thing I just learned is that the calorie counts on pre-packaged foods is not always accurate. Someone on another post said that she weighs and measures everything and one of the items was off by 20%. I then happened to pick up a box of Stevia that day and right on the box it said that it is under 4 calories, and…
  • You need to find the right instructor and class ^^^ This. I tried yoga a few times and hated it, but did love how it solved some nerve/muscle issues. Not until I found the right class and instructor I liked, did I actually love yoga. I prefer Relaxation Yoga, I literally feel just like I do when I get off a massage table.
  • ^^^ this! I am trying to be as mindful as possible for my next outing next week to Haufbrahus. Beers & Polka=mindless eating. The saurkraut balls and bavaarian pretzels have already been calling my name for the past two weeks.
  • ^^^ This. I use a bagel thin, sometimes laughing cow or sometimes FF Cheddar cheese. I bake an entire carton of egg beaters for 15 min @ 425, then sprinkle the cheese on top and bake another 9-10min. Pull out and cut into 8 sections- plop it on a bagel thin add some cooked bacon. Wrap individually in saran wrap, place in a…
  • I'm in! Though my goal is 72 pounds away, with weight lifting and looking at women on MFP who lift and who are my height, I think that is going to be way to low of a goal- so 60lbs may be just perfect. But no matter what- I need to squeeze into my new belly dance costume in 2 months- so need some serious motivation and…
  • Last month I ate an entire bag of caramel hershey kisses in 1 day (twice)....I had a Ghiradelli Milk Caramel craving, but these were on clearance from Valentine's day for about 50 cents per bag....too much of a bargain to pass up. Yesterday, my purse fell onto the garage floor and its contents spilled out. As I was picking…
  • Spiraled zucchini "pasta" with meatballs and tomato sauce. It is soooo yummy!
  • Vanity---I want to look spectacular in my new (smaller) belly dance costume.
  • Thanks for your replies- it has been very helpful. I try to educate myself as much as I can, but with as much info out there and opinions desguised as facts, its hard to cut through the clutter sometimes. Since many people on MFP seem to have such passion around programs lke 5x5, stronglifts etc...and against strength…
  • WOW! This is very eye opening! I always relied on pre-packaged food to be pretty accurate. This is something all newbies should read. Guess who will be starting to religously weigh every food item from here on out!
  • WOW! The most AMAZING and inspiring success story ever. The medical changes with your health and how you fought through it, that is the best part of your story.
  • I can relate- I just got back on the wagon again myself. For me, winter hit in NOH- coldest winter on record, so no walking outside. But what got me back on the path was hiring a personal trainer for a few sessions. Doesn't have to be a long time- but it helped to get back in the routine and there was accountability. Only…
