20 jumping jacks and 100 oz of water.

10 jumping jacks - 100 oz water. (I forgot about the jumping jacks until now - 10:52pm! I quickly got 10 done, but I plan to get more than that in tomorrow!)

@ Pattie: Oh no, don't feel like you 'aren't cut out for this'. It can be very discouraging when you feel like you are floundering, but there's alot of support - have you looked into locating a homeschool support group in your area? My group has been a treasure trove of support, resources and connections for me and my…

20 mini Nilla Wafers is 140 calories. With 1 tbsp of Nutella at 100 calories.

I like to use cucumber slices in lieu of chips for dipping in salsa or hummus. They give me the crunch with out the calories. Also, I enjoy flovored Almondmilk; I've got Vanilla right now. (Soy milk made some members of my family gassy.)

Reporting: 194. -the 1st/base weight at the beginning of our challenge. (Next week we'll report change between now and then. As well as the points for successfully completing the jumping jack and water goals. Right?)

Pattie, I read a book in the early years of my homeschooling that guided me in curriculum choices. It's called "100 Top Picks for Homeschool Curriculum" by Cathy Duffy. It has worksheets that help you determine your child's learning style as well as your teaching style, then suggests curriclum for that style, and also…

Oh, Mandy, so sorry to hear about the loss of your friend.

I use Alpha Omega. When we first started homeschooling 10 years ago, I bought the set of Lifepacs for the grade. Each subject is covered in 10 workbooks. As my son got older, we found other publishers for some subjects and stayed with Alpha Omega for some using Switched on Schoolhouse. My evaluation: LifePacs: Nearly no…

What Great success! Thanks for sharing!

Thank you! This is great! I agree that some of the challenges we face are unique as homeschoolers. And I totally agree that the success of others here is a huge inspiration (especially Dawn - she rocks the calorie burning)! Name: Kendra Location: North Carolina Married?: Yep. Soon to be 20 years How long ya been…

Set a goal not related to weight. Make an exercise goal ("I will walk 30 minutes on Mon, Wed and Fri."). Make a 'Healthy choice' goal ("I will eat 2 fruits today." "I will drink 6 glasses of water today."). Success encourages success. Your motivation will come back. You've done it before so you know you can do it!

Hi! I have been homeschooling for 10 years (I have kids in 10th, 5th, and 2nd grades). When I first started out, I used Alpha Omega's LifePac complete set, which includes 10 workbooks for each subject. Over the years, I have learned more about my children's learning styles and have found curriculum suited to each one. (I…

I lost 3 pounds in the first 2 days. So far, 14 pounds in 60 days. (I started MFP April 19, 2011)

Hey and you've already proven to yourself that you can have will power to do what you set your mind to; you've already started losing weight! You can do this too! =)

What a great idea to walk the mall. The mall local to me has a group that meets to walk together. When you feel the pressure to not let someone else down, or even better, find a group of people that you enjoy hanging out with, it may give you more motivation to keep going. Ask at the info desk at the mall, or give them a…

I've been counting calories with MFP for 50 days, about 7 weeks. I wouldn't say it feels like my normal diet. I still miss, every day, being able to eat whatever I want without having to think of the calories. I miss sitting down with a bag of chips and eating until I was satisfied, getting a couple handfuls of M&Ms,…

There are 3,500 calories in a pound. In order to lose OR gain one pound, you must either subtract or add 3,500 calories from your diet. After you input your information, MFP calculates how many calories you should have each week to maintain your current weight, then subtracts 3,500 calories from that number (losing 1 pound…

Noonoo, I can't tell you how many times I've done the same thing! I usually have my kids with me, so I don't stop at fast food places, but if I'm out alone, I sort of feel like 'This is my chance!'. I've gone to three different places to get the burgers, fries, shakes, gyros, chicken strips I want (enough for two meals,…

Over the weekend I ate chips like there was no tomorrow, and 'gained' 2 pounds over night. For the next two days I drank more water than I usually do, and 'lost' the 2 pounds. I did a little searching on this site, and came across a blog entry by Jitteryspork that was very informative.…

Just finished the second workout of week 1. And have I got a great support systm! My kids were standing in the driveway with a cup of water each time I passed the house on my way around the block. =)

AND when I realized I outweighed my husband by 30 pounds!

I found myself always scanning the room and realizing, "I'm the biggest one here." Also, we are heading to a water park for a family reunion this summer and the thought of walking around in just a swimsuit, thighs rubbing all day, nothing to hide under, made me get serious about working out and being diligent about…
