There are threads asking if one should eat one's exercise cals, if it's OK to be under on your MFP NET cals, etc all the time, and opinions will vary some, but it depends heavily on how overweight you are. For you, losing 10 vanity lbs, your weight loss will be very slow. At most 0.5 lbs/week. Your body does not want to…

I can't jog/run because I have very bad, very flat feet. Even walking on a treadmill is too much impact and the pain will limit me before I can get my heart rate up for long enough to get a good workout. I have found the elliptical machine to be the best substitute. It removes 90% of the impact but allows you to still get…

You look great, and cute with the braids.

My suspicion is that it is coincidence. Something else was probably different for you that week. Don't give up on either the BC or the diet.

HA, I was looking at the before pics thinking they were the after pics. I'll take your before body in a heartbeat! (I don't mean it's better than the after, just that it's all fantastic to me.)

Uhm, holy crap...a tummy tuck under NHS? In the US there isn't a healthplan around that will pay for a tummy tuck for any reason. OK, in very rare cases when someone was grossly obese and lost a ton of weight and the huge skin folds are getting infections all the time. Then, MAYBE if you win the lottery of healthcare.…

Do you feel guilty because you think it is *easier* for you to be in shape than them? Or because you're somehow making them feel bad by you looking so good? I'm really trying to understand this because I don't relate. <lol> I'm quite overweight right now but I've been working hard and making the tough choices to skip that…

Docs do claim BC shouldn't affect your weight, but it may well affect your appetite. It can also *help* ladies who have hormonal imbalances to start with, so the best advice is always to do what works for you. Dad (a nutritionist) always says "everyone's body is a chemistry experiment of 1". If you have found personally…

If you have weights and a cardio machine at home, I don't see any reason why you HAVE to go to a gym. I use the "gym" at my apartment complex and it just has treadmills, bikes and ellipticals, and a free weight set. If I had to leave home to go to a proper gym it just wouldn't happen. But it can be hard to see the…

Stretch stretch stretch, then stretch some more. :) It really will help. Heat as well will loosen up the knot.

Holy cow you lucky boogers! <lol> I've never had a week bigger than 2 lbs, not even the first one. Maybe just counting your cals means you're eating a lot less? I know I was surprised when I started counting, at how much I was probably overeating before and not even realizing it. Whatever it is, enjoy it!

So many things it could be...did you take any new medications today? For example antihistamines (like Benadryl is the US) will cause water to flush out of your system. Did you eat more salt than usual? Is it just after your "time of the month" (or TOM as I've seen people here call it)?

Well I'm more in your boat than able to offer advice. ;) Hubby brought up the subject with me suddenly a few weeks ago. We're 35, been together since we were 19, and just getting around to considering this. <lol> I'm an only child and have never heard that infamous biological clock ticking (even tho at my age it should be…

Oh I'm not worried, just kidding. We play lots of games together, just generally not the big epic Rockstar wide open world ones. He's actually decided to wait until I get off work to start LA Noire tho, wants me to be able to see how awesome it is and not miss the storyline. :)
-
Hubby has been waiting for this one for a LONG time too...anything by Rockstar tends to be a hit with him. I went and picked it up for him then came back and did my workout. Ain't I a good wifey to pick up the thing that's going to make me "lose" him for weeks? ;)

I would have said it sounded like acid reflux, but that should get worse when you're lying down, not better. Gallbladder pain will usually give you trouble with fatty meals. Since you're already tracking what you're eating, have you figured out a pattern (since you changed to the healthy diet)? Could also be chest pain,…

Two things to try: use an eye cover/sleep mask (you can get one cheap at Target, CVS, etc). Also melatonin helps me stay asleep better, as I can fall asleep but tend to wake up frequently. Benadryl (available cheaply as generic "diphenhydramine" anywhere) is what makes you fall asleep when you take Nyquil or things like…

YEA! I can't think of anything better you could do for yourself than get rid of diabetes, seriously. You have just made your family SO happy I'm sure! :) :) :)

I have found that when I make significant changes to either my diet or exercise levels (and now I've done both) it always affects my cycle. I AM on birth control pills and it's still been goofy for the last few months. I keep getting it like a week before I'm supposed to go on the "fake" pills and should get it then. I…

You are so close to ideal weight you absolutely should not even try to lose 2 lbs a week. You are in that range of being so close to your ideal weight you would be hard pressed to lose 1/2 lb per week consistently. For every 500 cal you are under what you need in a day, you will lose 1 lb a week. But you can't just…

Your cal burn is dependent on HR, and what your HR is for the exact same workout/intensity can vary from day to day. Depends on how you are well rested, when you last ate and what, etc. I've done the same workout and had an average HR once of 145 and once 160, and that was even the same time of day! :)

Hummus is very healthy and tasty....crushed up garbanzo (chickpeas) beans with lemon juice. YUMMY! I think falafel is also pretty healthy. You could def do a lot worse than Lebanese if you're trying to stay healthy.
-
Yea for you Sugarbeans! I agree, I was forced to resort to some fast food when camping weather turned bad for cooking, and my body was NOT happy with me for like 2 days afterwards. No matter what you're used to at any point, if you start to improve your habits your body will get used to it and it will become a…

Unless you stay up *really* late, you really should stop eating by 7pm. Also, make sure you're eating a decent breakfast, since starving yourself in the morning won't do you any favors at night. Having said that, I know you're looking for a workaround not a lecture. ;) I find (decaf at night) coffee with a bit of creamer…

You don't absolutely need one that calculates the calories for you, since you can use your average heart rate (which even the most basic HRM will give) to get a pretty good accounting by entering a few numbers into a calculator online. I have a Polar FT1, which gives me my average HR and max HR over the course of my…

Sorry if it's already been said, for some reason I can only see the original questions and not any replies, but I think there are some hiding.... http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/10589-for-those-confused-or-questioning-eating-your-exercise-calo Read it, learn it, love it. :) You can and most would even say SHOULD…

I don't know why your HRM is so out of whack compared to MFP, as my HRM doesn't give me cals. However what I do is put my average HR over the course of the workout (which the HM does give me) and the length of time with a couple other tidbits on this website tool's, and it tells me how many cals I burn per hour and how…

I realize lap band is reversible and different than the bypass surgeries, so I can't speak to lap band specifically. But I can speak to what happens with a bypass surgery, and it has many negative side effects, some of which people never realize before they get it. Most are not aware of the fact that different sections of…

I have always been 5-7 lbs heavier on the doctor's scale, don't let it freak you out. The only thing that matters is weighing yourself on the same scale every time so you get an accurate estimate of your loss.

Working out at 97% of your heart rate isn't necessary, but isn't hazardous if you are in good health and feel like you can handle it. I know I've done 170/186 for extended periods and felt fine myself. But working out THAT hard just isn't needed to lose weight. You're basically doing some major endurance training at that…
