  • another bump.
  • When I was close to my goal, I started to binge more often. Therapy has been amazingly helpful to figure out why i was doing it (I knew it was because the idea of being at goal was scary, but didn't WHY) and then deal with that issue. It's been a long and painful road (and expensive), but worth it.
  • If you're too self-conscious to run in public, you could always skip or gallop instead. Those options may be more likely to attract attention, though...

  • But why? What do people do with the information? And do we all need to come to an agreement? And why don't I have socks the same shade of brown as my brown shoes?
  • I can't help but wonder why you're asking this...
  • Just bumping cuz I'm interested if anyone will share any slow cooker meals that are good for warmer weather.
  • I have this problem too...sometimes my eyes still hurt/water HOURS later, after lots of hand-washing, etc. It's ridiculous. Several years ago, my mom gave me "onion goggles," but I don't know if they work because they don't fit over my regular glasses and bloody onions don't appeal to me.
  • You didn't blow your diet. You overindulged for one evening. Just get back on track (right now; don't put it off) and try to plan for the occasional treat. This is life.

  • Anyone who is negatively judging you for adapting exercises to your current level of fitness is essentially a shallow moron and, therefore, should not be any of any concern to you.
  • As frustrating as it is, It's actually kinda nice that he's being honest with you about why you losing weight makes him nervous. Emphasize to him that you want to get healthier (not just skinnier/sexier) so that you can be with him for a long, long time. Also, he might doubly not like the fact that you want to lose weight…
  • Just bumping to see responses.
  • I am not "dieting," but since I started getting healthy (and losing weight), the single most helpful thing that I've learned is to listen to my body and not to my brain when it comes to eating. My brain is GREAT at giving me reasons why I "should" or "need to" eat. Fortunately, my body is getting better at saying, "wait,…
  • I love it when people show "mid-way" pictures! You don't have to be at your goal to be super-successful and pics like this are motivating--and send hope--to so many people! Thanks for sharing--and great work, OP!
  • Maybe it's like this: http://www.sharecare.com/question/how-do-i-perform-a-medicine-ball-lift-and-chop. But maybe you're supposed to "punch" the ball to the side rather than up?
  • Your husband seems fine with how you look now, so if you focus on your goal weight/size, he might be wondering who you're losing the weight for (insecurity). Maybe when you talk to him about it, focus on the HEALTH benefits (yours, as well as how you can be a better mother for a longer time to your son). Good luck...and be…
  • I think it's the same as an "elliptical machine."
  • Some of the things that I can think of right now: 1. Not being embarrassed to hang my clothes on the line to dry, or trying to hang them in complicated ways so that they appear smaller. 2. Having a much easier time cutting my toenails. 3. Being proud about not only what I have in my grocery cart, but also how I spend my…
  • I listen to audio books or engaging podcasts (This American Life is a good one) while running. This makes the time much more enjoyable for me, but the downside is that I can't really do intervals because I'm too focused on what I'm listening to.

  • I know how discouraging it can be when you're working hard and not seeing results. Honestly, though, it doesn't matter if you "think" you've been making good eating choices, it matters if you ARE. Start logging your food and then ask for suggestions in a couple of weeks.
  • You are right that what your friends are doing is not okay. Honestly, after reading (parts of your really long) post, though, I'm much more worried for the rest of the people on the road than your friends.
  • I drink way more (of anything) with a straw--preferably bendy. Also, I usually bring a (strawless, sadly) bottle of water with me in the car and make a deal with myself that I can't get out of the car at my destination until I've had a certain amount of the water (usually the whole bottle, sometimes half). (I have gone…
  • When you have a few hours sometime, you can cook double batches of a couple of healthy recipes at once (e.g., chili, soups, casseroles), then freeze them in meal-size portions. Then, in the morning, just take out whatever you want for dinner to thaw in fridge and at night heat it up, steam a fresh veggie or microwave a…
  • Quinoa Pilaf with Shredded Chicken (on allrecipes.com) -- we skip the sage, use EVOO rather than coconut oil, and sometimes even omit the chicken. We love this, and it's so easy.
  • You could try wearing headphones (even if you're not listening to anything)....maybe he'd get the message that you're not interested in flirting. Just a thought...
  • Is it possible that you're not measuring it exactly the same way and/or place? Obviously, I don't know how you're measuring it, but it's probably best to have someone else do it and to take three measurements each time and then average those numbers. ETA: Also, it could have something to do with your posture or the way…

  • Five (or more?) years later, it's the same...but at least I haven't felt even colder as I lost more weight.
in Cold hands Comment by lil_pulp May 2012
  • After I'd lost like 40 pounds, I noticed I was colder than everyone else most of the time. My feet and hands are usually on the cold side. My doctor said that as long as I didn't lose feeling or have any strange sensations or change color, not to worry about it.
