Lap swimming is probably the BEST form of exercise you can do! 30 min of moderate freestyle stroke swimming burns about 250 calories. It also works ALL muscle groups simultaneouly without putting any stress on your joints. I'd say..DO IT!

Honestly the first week or 2 are the hardest. Once you get used to the routine of it, you start to feel in control of your own body. It is so worth it! Weigh in same day and time once a week. This is because weight can flucuate so much during a day that the only way to gauge how much you are losing is by doing it the same way once a week.

I just got back from a 13 day vacation. I didn't try to eat good (but didn't try to eat all junk either). Had some really wonderful dinners that I'm sure were high sodium and fat. My biggest problem with eating back exercise calories is that I may not get around to exercising until late evening. Then when I'm done, I'm never hungry. I try to plan ahead, but some days I just don't know if I'm going to have time to get in that exercise or not or for how long. However, its still working out ok.

You have already achieved the hardest part.....finding the determination and will to do it! You can do this! Just remember that the first few weeks are the hardest and after that it will become a healthy new habit. Just find time to log in to MFP everyday!

It is definiately the alcohol. I can have a couple glasses of wine with a light dinner (rare) and weigh in about 2 lbs heavier the next day.
