  • It's the sodium in it. It helps fight off keto flu by replenishing your sodium. It's not the only way to do this but it is one of the fastest in my experience.
  • When you're scrolling through threads on MFP while eating breakfast. Mine happens to be a cheeseburger with mustard this morning :D
  • When you reach the end of this thread and you press the "first" button to read it all again :D 😂
  • I really needed to read this today. I've been riding the struggle bus when it comes to getting enough protein. I've learned that the scale tends to freeze when I eat even close to my "goal" amount of fats, so I recalculated to try and reduce the amount of fat I'm taking in outside of using it for satiety. And since I'd…
  • Those aren't jelly beans?? Oh god, my eyes need checking! Lol
  • February of this year but I plan on eating this way for life!
  • My husband didn't care about keto until he began to have some health issues that scared him. He came to me after recovering from a bout of intense pain and asked me to teach him the keto way. He is now feeling much better and has no plans to stop this WOE.
  • Welcome back! I was off keto but still relatively low carb until recently. My husband and I are both on the low carb spectrum, but he's a newbie and I'm full keto again so I get to teach him all about it! B)
  • I don't want him to do it because of the pain it would put him in but he's in the military and he wants to get it done for his records. I am going to support him in his choice but I'm worried about it.
  • He is going to ask his doctor this week for the test. I told him the same thing about the tests and the look on his face almost broke my heart. Honestly, I don't think he cares about the testing. It runs in his family and he felt so much better on LCHF.
  • Worst advice I've ever gotten is "You're so young! You have plenty of time to worry about having a baby!" I'm 21 with severe PCOS. I really don't have 'plenty of time' to worry about having a baby because getting my weight down to a safe one to carry a child takes up most of that time. I dealt with it usually by saying…
  • As much as it kills me, I HAVE to stay away from most sweet things. I find I can tolerate small doses of liquid Splenda, but even then it has to be in incredibly small amounts or cravings come back with a vengeance. Even with my slight standstill, I managed to get the scale moving in the right direction by bringing in IF.…
  • Ya know, I always want to upload to this thread, but I always eat my dinner before I can take a picture :D
  • Thank you all for the input! I'll try to put the advice to good use! I've been on keto for around a week and a half, but got around to tracking it on here 5 days ago. It's just a mental battle for me, remembering that it isn't all about the scale.
  • I know this may sound strange, but try drinking a little pickle juice. When I was going through keto flu, I drank some straight from the jar (I was desperate, you can use a glass :D ) and the symptoms started subsiding within 15 or 20 minutes.
  • An edit to my previous post: I've been going 500+mg over my goal, not 300. I did a lot of math to figure out the numbers and typed some of them wrong lol
  • So. Much. Food. Porn. :p <3
  • I think I actually found my problem. I went back through my food diary and found (obviously the dairy) but I also found that I was drinking a lot of water. What I never logged was the electrolyte additive with 30mg of sodium I put in my countless glasses of water. I didn't even think to look what was IN the enhancer. One…
  • Having to cut out dairy completely makes me so sad because I love love love cheese, but I'm willing to stop eating it just to figure out if it's what's causing the issues. I'm really hoping it's not. As for nuts, I don't eat them at all simply because I don't like the texture of them. I'm still going to keep my sodium low…
  • My hubby really wanted to go keto to support me, but we quickly realized it was not a good option for him at all. He wasn't willing to put in any of the work for it and thought it was too tedious. We found he can go lowER carb, but not nearly as low as I have to be. It's been hard for him to wrap his head around and it's…
  • I was just creeping around discussions (as per usual lol) when I saw the pickle juice. Hubby LOVES pickles but will toss the juice. Looks like it finally has a use!
  • Hi, Chrissy! I'm 21 with my birthday fast approaching in June, no furry family members (yet), 3 years with my husband and 8 months actually married. I'm currently weighing in at around 322/323 depending on the time of day and my first goal is to hit 290 before my birthday. Hitting 290 will be a huge milestone for me since…
  • Side note, I have plenty of qualms about taking a spoonful of coconut oil or butter straight but I'll still do it! :D
  • I have some issues meeting them too, but I'm adjusting and finding new foods that give me "more bang for my buck" so to speak. I wasn't hungry for breakfast in the slightest but I needed to add fat in there somewhere so I legitimately downed a tablespoon of coconut oil with some electrolyte water. Not the best tasting, but…
  • I love this thread so freaking much! It keeps me laughing the whole time I'm reading!!
  • I'm thinking about how putting on 40 pounds in 4 years absolutely KILLED my self esteem. If 18 year old me thought she had none then, she really had no idea what was coming in the next 4 years.
  • I've been on and off keto for about a year and since February 20th, I've made the commitment to it 100%. I'm still working on making sure I get the proper amounts of everything, but my PCOS symptoms have reduced, especially the lower belly bloating. I'm hoping I can reverse some of them entirely in the long run!
  • Hi everyone! I'm on day 6 of keto (after about a year of being on and off it, I'm making the commitment) and I'm still working out the kinks in my diet to balance it all out. So far I've lost 9 pounds! I know most, if not all of it, is water, but it still feels great! I'm hoping to lose 40 pounds by my birthday in June!…
  • Don't forget to add me too!
  • upstate New York, but will soon be moving to New Mexico. I've been on and off keto for about a year, but now I'm fully committed and have been since February 20th.
