I was doing great up until the last couple months. Starting a new job and almost every evening driving kids to sports and activities has reduced one-time to basically nearby breweries and occational snacks I shouldnt have. Trying to find a way to get back on that good train I had going

I feel like I could use an accountability partner, but more for eating than working out. I get on the treadmill and walk every day. But I end up on a junk food bender about once a week because exercising restraint with food is SO stressful on top of a pile of other stressors that I just buckle and give up

I'm Shoe, I was a skinny highschool kid but gained 90 lbs in college to get to my weight 2 months ago (260) at age 31 I decided to do somethign about it. I'm at day 49 and I've already lost 26 lbs. I literally do not eat if it isnt in the log and it's the only thing that's got me losing. I'm in, but I hope to get more than…

A lot of times for small stuff like cherry tomatoes, grapes...etc, you can find an entry on here that lets you use the number as opposed to weight. That's what I do. For stuff like spinach or leafy greens and the like you can try using tablespoons....that's harder. Possibly just do a day total, cut up a whole carrot or…

I replaced my stress binges with stress-induced-hobby-overindulgence. Still counterproductive and makes me feel good, but calorie free :P

It's not a solution, it's a goal, the solution is the steps you take/took to get to the self control. A behavior change is not a light switch, you can't just suddenly be a different person. You've got to work at it, and not everyone knows what steps they need to take to make that change.

are you under-eating? if your body does not get enough food it can start packing on weight also, muscle weighs more than fat, if you never exercised much in the past, your weight will go up some, but 5 lbs in 10 days is unllikely also, water weight can fluctuate your wegight from 5-15 lbs depending on your size. make sure…

If it's not your problem then why bother commenting on it? Making a comment is a method to get involved

The thing is, with weight loss, calling someone out instead of offering alternatives is often discouraging and is likely to be the opposite of helpful, are you trying to help or just here to point out control issues. Everyone who is overweight has problems with self control, how else did we get this way, we KNOW we have…

How is offering up solutions sugar coating the truth? Weight loss is a touchy subject for fat people, I know because Untill 2-3 months ago I was 220 Lbs and i've lost 26, I still have the mentality of being embarrassed about being fat. When you are embarrassed by youself you get defensive easy. I still consider myself a…

QFT, I also tend to walk a few more miles when i exercise that day. As long as this happens less than once per month you'll be fine

but people INTERPRET it that way, and you can't control someone's interpretation.

The problem being, when you put someone on the defensive, they will stop listening to the GOOD parts of the advice and focus on the accusation. It's psychology 101 http://www.carlsonschool.umn.edu/assets/71516.pdf

Telling someone to "Just get over it, you are in control" doesnt help. THat type of statement puts someone instantly on the defensive. Suggestions are helpful, blanket statements like "don't make excuses" just make people defensive

It's all about knowing what works for you. At first you have to trick yourself into believing that you arent dieting, you are just changing what you george on (Hobby time, veggies, anything that distracts you)
-
This is true, Although I don't love veggies, in fact i prefer not to eat too many, I regularly cram a couple cups of spinach into my head with a couple tablespoons of low cal dressing to make myself feel too full to put more food into me. A lot of it is just knowing WHY you compulsively eat and patching that hole other…

not true, the term you are looking for is Compulsion versus Addiction http://addictions.about.com/od/howaddictionhappens/a/addcompulsion.htm

I'm both the obcessed with sweets type and finally worrying about my health and this kind of comment doesn't help. The only way to really understand how bad or not bad stuff is for you is to start calorie counting, it really opened my eyes to stuff that I thought wasnt so bad that is terrribly calorie dense and on the flip…

I get a jumbo bag and a kabillion ziplocks and pre-potion the whole thing out. I admit, the candy thing is harder than the 3 oreos, but when it's really easy to just grab a zip loc and then go sit down somewhere and eat them, my laziness takes over and I dont want to go get another bag
-
I personally look for low cal snackies that make me FEEL like I'm getting quite a bit 3 oreos is like 160 calories, I tend to have 3 oreos after lunch and again after dinner. I dont feel like i'm not getting to snack and I have lost like 25 lbs eating a healthy diet and saving 300 calories or so a day for snacks. You've…
