According to the Family Violence Prevention Fund, "growing up in a violent home may be a terrifying and traumatic experience that can affect every aspect of a child's life, growth and development. . . . children who have been exposed to family violence suffer symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder, such as bed-wetting…

Seems like you are feeling overwhelmed, and I know too well how that goes! Some suggestions to help: -Do a workout video at home. I loev the 30 Day Shred: 20min is a great workout and it is fast, so it does not kill my whole day. That saves ime going to the gym and it is something different, changing routine on occassion…

Cycle of Violence Incident Any type of abuse occurs (physical/sexual/emotional) Tension Building Abuser starts to get angry Abuse may begin There is a breakdown of communication Victim feels the need to keep the abuser calm Tension becomes too much Victim feels like they are 'walking on egg shells' Making-Up Abuser may…

I knew it from this post. As a survivor of abuse I can see the red flags almost right away. Please get yourself and your children out of this situation. They are learning that it is OK for a man to treat a woman this way, and i KNOW that you do not want either of your kids living their lives like this. It is hard, but you…

Sorry, but I take abuse seriously, and I do not think that anyone, male or female, should stay in an abusive relationship. Which is exactly what this is. These are not some careless words, these are words meant to demean her and crush her confidence. ETA: You should not have to teach your husband to be kind. He is a grown…

THIS. That is verbal and emotional abuse and it is NOT OK. No one deserves to be called names by their partner. Do NOT make excuses for him. It does not matter if you gained 400lbs since marriage. Saying he is embarrased of you and that you are gross is completely unexcusable. Has he ever been physical with you? Because I…

I would love to do this with you all! I need to get my butt in gear and I think this is a great way to do it :)

I have the same problem! And while I can go weeks without doing it now, I still slip on occasion. I know that it is all mental/emotional, so I don't really have much advice, except that I have been doing some serious sole searching and trying to figure out why I sabotage myself. It has been getting better, and I have been…

This is my problem time too (although much earlier than you since I am snoozing my 1030, 11 at the very absolute latest). I make sure I have enough calories to have a late night snack, and I just make sure it is something healthy/filing.

I usually don't either, but I was having a really hard time finding a pair of black boardshorts that weren't all upmyass or past my knees. I just wanted regular length ones, which is apparently crazy talk ;) I found these online and they LOOKED perfect. Bad call!

LOL this is the first reaction I had too. I was up at 550. I havent slept in till 830 since I was on vacation last year ;) Sorry for the threadjack, OP!

Mine is stress as well as anxiety. I am working 50ish hours a week and going to school full time right now, and I feel like I have NO free time. I get off work, drive home, workout, cook dinner, do schoolwork then go to bed. 5 days a week. Then on the weekends I have to clean, do laundry, workout, do the rest of my…

I probably weight myself 3 or 4 times a week, but my official weigh in is once a week, Saturday morning.

I absolutely think it is OK to take a break from logging and analyzing everything every once in awhile! Just make sure you do something for yourself (no t food related) this weekend. Pamper yourself a bit and get back up to full speed :)

Absolutely! I think changing your eating habits and losing weight is part of taking control of your life as a whole. I am working on bettering myself in many ways, and I am looking forward to what the future holds. Some things that I am doing: saving seriously for a downpayment on a house, getting all debt paid off, taking…

Well, that is lovely. Actually, studies show that people that lose weight in a healthy way are much more likely to keep it off long term. But what do I know, I apparently am just going to gain it all back anyway.

I want to add that I don't think skinny = unhealthy or too thin. I think that everyone feels comfortable at different weights and with different amount of curves. I like to stay on the curvier side, so I am aiming at the upper end of "normal" weights for my height, and I don't see taht as skinny. I would see someone on the…

Great article, thanks! I think everyone has time to exercise, it is just about making it a priority and fitting it in. If I can find time (work full time plus (50+ hours a week), go to school full time, have a puppy and husband I have to see on occassion too), then I think anyone can! I actually feel like I have more…

I don't really want to be skinny skinny, I am happier with slender and curvy ;), so 155 at 5'8" is where I would like to be. Skinny would probably be more like 140.

As someone who has naturally screwed up horomones, I would NEVER EVER EVER mess with horomones just to lose weight. This can and has resulted in a a permant horomone imbalance in women, and that is something I would not wish on anyone.

Try a program with specific goals for you to meet, like Couch to 5K. That way you can push yourself to hit those goals!

I did gain weight when I quit, but I was already gaining. It wasn't like I was consciously trying to lose weight and couldn't because I stopped. I honestly am SO happy I stopped. So happy. I am sure if you still watch your calories on here and find low cal/no cal things for the oral fixation aspect, you will be fine.

100 cal packs of microwave popcorn Fiber One Bars (or in my case, Market Pantry Fiber Bars cause I am cheap) Laughing cow cheese as dip for things (esp. baby carrots) Skinny Cow Ice Cream WW Giant Latte bars Tablespoon of Peanut Butter

I don't weigth everything, no. I weigh out things like meat, and if the portion size is in weight (not cups). I do measure all my food though, unless it is a prepackaged item.
-
mini-golf, movie, lazer tag (seriously), hiking, look and find art fairs or other festivals in your area to go and browse, and if you do go out to eat, eat dinner before hand and get a small app and a low cal drink or two. That will keep you from going too overboard, but you can still have fun :)

This. You can encourage him and lead a healthy life y example, but you cannot make him eat healthy. He has to want that for himself.
-
Oh yeah, I am the queen of excuses :) Trying to change that!

School lunches in this country are a giant joke. But the food they serve is cheap (due to government subsidies and the fact that it is crap) so it is what the kids get. Sad.

((hugs)) So sorry for your loss. DO NOT beat yourself up over the last 3 days. The fact that you recognize that you were using food as a coping mechanism is huge in itself! You have totally got this, and I know you will be back on track tomorrow. No reason to stress about the last 3 days food-wise. Put that out of your…
