  • Hi all! I'm excited about reading all of your posts later ... there are lots of great discussions going on! For now I just wanted to give a quick shout out and let you know I did 3 miles in the heat and humidity this morning (even at 6:30am it was still pretty miserable).
  • Great job Mireille!!! Running in the rain is super refreshing. No run for me today. I'm doing a strength workout at the gym this evening. Have a fabulous day!
  • I was interested in the same thing myself, so I googled it. Here are a couple of great articles on the topic of hot-weather running: HEAT-RUNNING SECRETS Hard-won wisdom on training, dressing, and drinking from veterans of the hot zones. http://www.runnersworld.com/article/0,7120,s6-238-267-269-11994-0,00.html What to wear…
  • Good morning runners! Today was my sprint workout. We ran a mile warm-up, did 30 minutes of sprinting drills, then finished with a half-mile cool down. It kicked my butt and felt great (afterwards)!
  • Mireille - I love those days when you just feel like you can run forever! They are so refreshing! Tonight is an easy 2- to 3-mile run for me. My right calf has been hurting me for a few weeks now. It's like my muscle is super tight. It seems to get irritated when driving (pushing on the gas pedal), doing walking lunges,…
  • Wow, so many posts already! I got back from my trip to South Carolina late last night. I didn't exercise once and I ate terribly! Needless to say, I'm trying to push the guilt off today by eating SUPER healthy and attending my regularly schedule Boot Camp class tonight. I hope it's extra hard because I need a good kick in…
  • South Carolina for a business conference. It will be fun but busy!!! I'm relying on the hotel gym to get me through. :)
  • Good morning! Working out after work tonight ... combo of xtrain and strength!!! I'll be out of town w/o access to internet all weekend (starting tonight) so have a fabulous weekend everyone!
  • Good morning all! I tried something a little different this morning. It's my sprinting day, and usually I meet a friend at the gym and do it together (outside or the indoor track). Well my running buddy cancelled, so I decided to do sprints down my 1/8-mile driveway instead! I did about 2 miles (jog to the road, sprint to…
  • Great article! It is 80 degrees outside right now with 58% humidity and I was just asking myself the question, "I wonder if it's better to run now or in the morning??"
  • This is a great conversation - something all of us runners have to deal with yet nobody ever brings it up. :) I always wear spandex shorts when I run to avoid my inner thighs rubbing. Under Armour makes great spandex that does NOT make it's way up the crotch (like more shorts too). I will have to try body gilde, though,…
  • Morning all! I'm doing 2.5 miles tonight, possibly at the indoor track. (Yuck! I hate running inside!!!) My alarm clock just wasn't convincing enough this morning to get me out of bed when I heard the thunder outside. :)
  • Good morning runners! I was out of town (without internet access) over the weekend, but I did run 3 miles yesterday, and tonight is BOOT CAMP! Sherry, I definitely say Boot Camp counts. :) Have a great day everyone!
  • Happy 4th! Today is a rest day for me. I am going for a walk with some friends this morning. :) Enjoy the fireworks!
  • So you mean it doesn't get any easier? Hahahahaha :)
  • THANK YOU! We larger chested women feel your pain. Literally. Any recommendations like this always help - I'll check it out!
  • Here is a great website that will give you the average amount of calories burned. You select the activity. Then enter in your weight. Then depending on the exercise, it will ask you if it was moderate, vigorous, etc. http://www.self.com/fitness/activity/calculators/
  • Good morning runners! Today I did weight lifting. There is a class at my gym called "Body Pump" and we work different areas of the body to different songs. Boy does it kick my butt! Have a fabulous day!
  • Hahaha you all are so funny. I love reading this board. :) My PT said you should eat as much protein as your body weight. So if you weigh 140 pounds, eat 140g in protein. I started doing it about 4 weeks ago, and it has made a BIG difference. I've lost weight (after being on a plateau) and I feel a lot stronger during my…
  • "Crunch" Fat-Burning Pilates w/ Ellen (forget her last name) ... it's a good workout that will make you sweat!
  • The best thing is to start with a walk/jog. Walk for five minutes, jog for two, walk for five, jog for two. Then every week increase your jogging time and decrease your walking time. Eventually you'll be in a full-out jog!
  • Good morning runners! Ditto with Kechie - I ran 3.5 and the weather was B-E-A-Utiful! The first mile and a half was a warm-up, and then I did sprinting drills for two miles. Have a fabulous day!
  • I go every week and LOVE it. Expect to be sore for a couple of days, but the key is to KEEP GOING. You also have to find a good instructor - my class is full of people at every fitness level, and the instructor helps those who are less in shape to modify whatever it is we're doing. It will be a great workout and you'll…
  • I read this great article about your ideal weight. Here is what the expert said: "I'd like to banish the whole idea of ideal weight," he says. "We simply don't have enough data to say what's right for any individual or group. We should focus more on telling people they can get healthier by becoming more active, no matter…
  • I vote 10K :) When is it?
  • Check out the "Crunch" fat-burning pilates DVD with Ellen Barrett. It is about 45 minutes and you get cardio + core strengthening. http://www.amazon.com/Crunch-Burning-Pilates-Ellen-Barrett/dp/B00009V7QF
  • Good morning Mireille and everyone! Just completed a 2-mile run. Only 20 more weeks until the half marathon. :) Happy Canada Day!!! Alison
  • WOO HOO! :) Of course us night owls won't be woo hooing when the alarms go off for our morning run! haha
  • Here is the pilates DVD that is AWESOME ... it makes you sweat and gives you a great overall workout. http://www.amazon.com/Crunch-Burning-Pilates-Ellen-Barrett/dp/B00009V7QF
