30 (that's at least the current answer :) ) Really though I think it had more to do with the birth of my twins this year in Feb.

I second this thought. Running is about a journey not really an end goal (or at least not until the end). If you don't enjoy the journey then maybe it's the wrong sport for you. I use the time to zone out, relax, and think about things. It's some of most enjoyable time. If you didn't like running slow (which is what you…

Huh. Ok so not a new runner as I assumed. Either way I'd just try to slow down take it back to 2.5 miles a day and see how that goes for a week. Also I wouldn't focus on time and distance at the same time. As distance increases your time per mile is likely to increase as a result of the longer total distance forcing you to…

What were you doing before that? If you started running 2 weeks ago at 3 miles per run everyday (or even every other day) then you started with too much mileage. Your body has hit a wall and you need to back off and listen to your body.
-
I suspect too much running is the cause as well. But can't say for sure without more info. How many months have you been running? What's your average miles per week? What was your progression up to that average per week? If you can't run a mile then running 3 miles a day won't make it better. You'd probably be better off…

Just started this madness this year (but boy has the bug bit me good). The weight loss has been great. My goals as the weather gets colder. - Continue to lose weight down to 180-200 (exact goal tbd) - Hit the weight room and get in some heavy lifting - Take a masters swim class - Take at least 1 spin class a week to keep…

Hey all just found this. Sounds fun. Month to date: Swim: 5.28 Bike: 28.40 Run: 30.28 Just can't find the time for any rides. :(

I want to know as well. You look great!

Thanks for all the quick replies. I figured as much, but wanted to make sure everyone else was on the same page.

Thanks everyone for the input. I learned some new things and got a different perspective on my diary. I will just try to be patient and keep on trucking...I'll keep things consistent for a little while and hopefully see a change in the future.

I can't speak to the sodium, but water consumption is far from the problem. I have already finished 2 24 oz camelbak bottles this morning and am just about done my third. I drink water like a fish. Don't leave my desk without my water bottle and when I walk in the door when I get home I get a glass of ice water and fill it…

Remember that it was just one day and you have the whole rest of your life to make good habits. One bad day is just that, ONE bad day. It doesn't mean the next has to be. Sometimes I let myself have a bad day (not a cheat day; cause everything is still logged) but one where I let myself go over because I know one day…

When I originally looked at them I went with Insanity due to P90X requiring weights/bands/bar which I didn't want to buy. Insanity is higher impact and can lead to some joint discomfort (I can vouch for this first hand), but IMO gets you moving more for more fat burning than P90X. On that other hand from my picture you can…

Go out and grab a HRM. Wear it every time you work out. It will give a MUCH more accurate number for what you are burning. Also, put down the donuts. :) Try some yogurt or cereal instead. And fruit, more fruit.

Don't quit! Being healthy is a life change, not something you just do for a while. I didn't lose anything until I really took the time to learn what is going on, just logging doesn't cut it you have to educate yourself. You started this journey for some reason, now keep at it until you get to where you wanted to go. If you…

Looks great from here. Nice job on the success. Keep doing ab workouts and the rest will come off too.

Done! Once up and down the 12 floors of my office building was just over 15 minutes. Thighs feel like rocks, but I can't say it wasn't a good thing to do. Dragged 2 co-workers with me too and had a nice little break from the desk.
-
I'm in for a quick lunch time break from my desk. 12 floors in my building should be enough stairs.

Tight? I'm not sure my muscles have another state at the moment. The only time they don't feel tight is during the workout and at that point they are tired. Starting week 5 ("rest" week) hoping it helps to relax everything before month 2.

Way to go. Do all the bragging you want!

Muscle is more dense than fat. The same volume of fat weighs less than the same volume of muscle. The cardio helps to burn the fat and the strength helps to build the muscle. If your pants fit better, but the scale doesn't move, it is likely that you have built up muscle and lost fat. Just using the scale you might think…

I wish there was some secret to tell you, but mostly you just have to suck it up the first week. The first three days it hurt just to go through the movements to sit on the sofa. I got to the point where I mostly just let myself fall rather than sit. But just like telo said it does get better. After day 3 I really felt…

I hear you. Cardio abs was NO fun, but I know my abs were working. I have been getting up a little more sluggishly each morning since mid last week, but I"m still pushing play and doing it and that's what counts. The warm up does get a little boring, but at the same time it really is a good warm up so it's worth it. Just…

Lost 1.4 lbs after the first week. Planning to measure every other week, so Sunday will be the first measurement day. I can already feel that my HRM chest strap is looser though, so I know there are measurement changes going on. And my wife has even commented that my shoulders feel different; likely do to the Level 1 and 2…

I do, but who cares what he DVD plan says. If you do any of the work (including the Cardio Recovery) once a day then you are doing more than what you would do if you didn't. If you miss a day, who cares, is missing one day going to make the next day that you do work out any less good for you? Just get out there and push…

First rest day feels so weird, my body is like "so when we working out? Hey hey work out?" All I want to do is do one, but I'm going to be good and let my body rest forthe day.

Always do both. They take measurements in different ways and having both is the best way to see progress.
