Injuried Again
How do you all stay motivated when injuries hit? I lost 35 lbs since April creating a base for Triathlon next year. Then September I strain my groin, killing running and biking for over a month. I keep swimming and add weight training doing SL 5x5 (it was getting time to do some lifting anyway). Groin is just starting to…

NSV: Two Days of Compliments
So both today and yesterday I ran into people I worked with over a year ago via a chance encounter. Both times only in passing and for a few minutes of "hey how's it going" type chat. But both times they in this quick conversation they each mentioned how slim and trim I was looking. Talk about butting a smile on my face!…

Injury Copping
In April I took to weight loss and exercise in earnest and lost 40 lbs since then. Then 2 weeks ago I got a groin strain, can't run, can't bike, can't lift, and swimming hurts a little. Doc says that I just have to wait it out, but it's just so hard to keep focused and I'm afraid I'm messing up. I've enjoyed my training so…

Groin Strain
So pretty sure I've strained my groin. Been 3 days so far with no training. Got a doc appt on Friday, but my mother and aunt who are both nurses are pretty sure that's it. So...anyone have any experiences with how long this will put me out? I'm hoping to run the Baltimore half marathon in October and am about half way in…

Potassium Help
So I've started running and watching my macros (more so than just counting straight calories alone) and I hear potassium is one to watch to help relieve side stitches and keep my muscles feeling good. So I'm trying to get more potassium. I just entered an ideal day of food for me and I'm still like 2200 out of 3500mg short…

Today's NSVs
Had 2 NSVs today that I wanted to share all day. 1. I've taken up swimming as a sport this year , but had the hardest time breathing to my right during freestyle. I can breath to the left no problem, but when I breath to the right I look like a floundering idiot (at least I'm sure I do) and suck water bad (which I've found…

Cold Weather Running Gear
So I took up running this May and am loving it. But being in MD the weather is already starting to get cooler. So as to be prepared and give myself the best chances of continuing as it gets cooler, I started looking at cold weather gear. But wow are there lots of options! So I figured I'd come see what you all do for cold…

Swimming Questions
I took up swimming earlier this year with the ultimate goal of doing triathlon in the future. I'm now up to a mile each workout. I'm hoping to take an actual class, but in the mean time I was hoping some of you might be bake to answer some questions I've thought of over the last few months. Sorry if any of these seem…

Calculating LBM
So I'm 10lbs away from my original fat loss goal and am starting to think about doing some weight training this winter (StrongLifts 5x5 most likely). I've read all over that if trying to gain muscle mass you want to be eating 1g protein for every 1lb of lean body mass (LBM). Ok, but what I can't find is how to calculate…

Favorite Motivational Video/Sound Clip
I've been stuck in a rut the last couple weeks, so I've been going through my favorite video clips for motivation. But we can always use more. So what are your favorite motivational video/sound clips? Ya know, the ones that really get you pumped to go to work. My favorite by far is http://youtu.be/Ggq8LzZ397Q. Always gets…

Heavy Lifting Advice
I've lost 30 lbs this year so far doing swimming, biking, and running. My legs have gotten some great toning. Now while I have a bit more weight to lose to get to my goal of 200 lbs, I'd like to start planning for the future and that includes weight training. Problem is I really don't know where to start as far as how to…

Logging Swimming
I've recently started swimming in preparation for doing a triathlon in the future. Biking and running are easy to log, put in heart rate monitor and log calories burned into MFP. But swimming I just have time and distance due to the lack of an HRM. MFP has two freestyle entries, fast/vigorous and light/moderate, but these…

My progress to date (37 lbs down) with pics
I joined MFP in April of 2011 with the very lose goal of "lose some weight." At the time I was at my peek of 250 lbs and had seen my weight creep up over the last 10 years or so from my 180 lbs that I was in high school. Since then I've incrementally improved myself over the last 3.5 years. I've bounced up and down in…

NSV: Kilt fits GREAT
So not exactly the most relatable NSV, but I'm still digging it and wanted to share. I have a utilikilt that I wear at the nerd conventions I go to. At the beginning of May I tried my kilt on and it was super snug. So I started into gear to hopefully lose a couple pounds. And wam, I lost 8 lbs and my kilt fits like a…

Fiber and Glucosamine
Hoping for some input from you guys on a few supplements I'm taking. 1. I take fiber gummies daily, I thought this was a good idea to help keep things "moving", but I've heard from some sources that they don't do anything too. Any opinions and/or sources either way; are these worth taking or worthless? 2. I also take…

Eating Fast vs Slow Question
I have a question for all the people that understand this stuff better than me (most of you). I've always been told that eating fast can contribute to being overweight. I understand that this is because it takes time for your brain to register "fullness" (like an hour I think?) and if you eat fast you have time to stuff…

Exercise Help
So back for the nth time. After 2 (almost 3) years of going back and forth with MFP I'm down about 20 pounds, but I really want to be down much more. I've always been the guy to throw my friends kids in the air and swing them around and feel tired afterwards, but no big deal they go home and I'm fine enough eventually.…

Stalled, help!
So been at this 3 weeks now (this time around). Started at 242 and am now at 237. Trouble is I was at 237 a week ago and am still there today with no change. 2 weeks ago I started at the gym and last week I went M, W, F like clockwork, doing cardo and lifting (I wear a HRM to track my burn). I added more food last week and…

Quarter of the way
So I know this is small, but...I just realized that I'm a quarter of the way to my weight loss goal (at least the first) that will get me to 200lbs. Hadn't realized it until I just looked at my tracker in a post a few minutes ago. Cool.

NSV - Smallest belt hole
Nothing huge, but big enough for me to celebrate. Got dressed this morning and with hardly any sucking in I could get my belt on the last hole! Still was a little snug to wear it all day. But a month ago I tried putting my belt there just for giggles and there was no way it was happening. So yay!

Am I eating enough?
Been through this many times and am back again for another try. Coming on two weeks in and I'm still going strong. I'd like some advice as to if I'm eating enough. My diary is open so please be my guest to look. I started again on 6/3 at 242.8 and so far this morning (6/13) I'm at 236.8. Goal is to get down under 200.…
