This is my situation right now.

I'm in the same predicament. I find that the elliptical is wonderful and I can break a sweat with no impact whatsoever on my knee. Bike riding has helped and I find that I have to be vigilant about my food more than ever.

Thanks Opie. I am a barefoot runner so I'm glad you recommend Vibram shoes. I intend to do one in the summer. I'm also slowly training for a half-marathon in the spring. Thanks for the tips. Lottycat, I see the benefits of weights in training as well. I'm not afraid of it anymore. I would like to add the both of you.

I got mine from Kijiji Canada. I made sure it was the original and they confirmed. It was $30.

I used to have the Excalibur but the loose door was a bit bothersome for me. I bought a cheaper one where each tray is its own door, and I like it. I don't dehydrate much unless I make cookies or crackers for others. I tend to eat just high-water content food.

I should have been more clear. I don't have an elliptical machine or a treadmill. I do use those machines at my office gym and they are great for burning a lot of calories. I've learned to put just enough food on my kids plate but sometimes I pick at the food I'm preparing for the children (it's not even food I eat). That's where the calories add up. Another habit is using gummy bears as comfort food.
