It is great that you are getting more energy from this program. "Bit slow for me" and "breezing through" are hints that maybe you are treating this like cardio when it is supposed to be about building strength and endurance too. There are plenty of ways to cheat in yoga - mind over matter hopping is one of the strategies…

Classes are great if you need to cross-train and want to try something new. The only thing to watch out for is the closet competitor in you that may come out. For years I would intermittently decide 'okay, I am going to try this,' and get invigorated by all the energy in the room (exuded by people who were actually good at…

Alcohol is a slippery slope food, as is soda. It is difficult to choose being lonely and sober vs. being drunk with friends, but at least you are seeing that crossroads. Any chance any of the other drunk friends wants to go sober with you? Or at least support your moderation?

if you like dvds you might be able to try out a variety from the library :)

Congratulations on 50 pound loss, that is awesome. If you lost that much your calorie needs may have gone down as well. Your body may be used to the workouts. Time to reassess and adjust.

117. Aiming for under 110 for 7 days straight, but I have not seen that number in a few weeks!

All of these sound great, I just have one more ingredient to suggest that has a long shelf life and probiotic value - plain kefir. It is pourable yogurt that adds some fat, so you can make a creamy coleslaw dressing with kefir and apple cider vinegar, a pinch of sugar if you like it sweet, or mustard if you like it spicy,…

you can add me if you like. I have been MFPing for several years and find that every day is a back on the wagon kind of day.

133 this morning. I just switched this week from monitoring 1x/day before bed to 1x/day before breakfast. There is a clear relationship between total carbs the day before, and the morning reading. Knowledge is power, but that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt a little extra figuring out that my nutrition has to permanently…

When I was gaining my sweet tooth was all-powerful! Brownies and diet soda were my two sweet treats. I had to quit both completely for several months and then slowly add in less-sweet sweet things in controlled portions, like individually wrapped bite sized dark chocolate, or a handful of blueberries. And these days I can…

or aqua aerobics (water running.) Or just getting in a hot tub and moving around. May help channel some of that muscle habit energy without causing more damage.

pilates and yoga and ballet make them feel longer and slenderer than genes made them, helping me be more accepting of whatever shape they are because Hey they can do a lot of stuff. Just the same I won't wear a skirt unless they are covered. Dang.

Welcome Amber - getting to know yourself through logging your food and drink is a great start.

Thanks for opening your diary. I looked because 1350 sounded too low to me for someone 201 and working out 4x/week. If you are reluctant to add more calories I would at least consider adding greens and/or pickles to get the fiber and the vinegar to help you digest all of that meat. And when progress seems slow, remember…

Spiralized my knuckle too! Learning to like zucchini in chunks or strips instead of spirals.

Thanks Jay. The doctor didn't think it was PAD and did check the foot pulse and sent me home with the recommendation to take something to help me sleep. That didn't help, but some very targeted physical therapy exercises seem to have diminished the symptoms. I will ask the doctor about PAD next time.

this is not about one day or seven days or seventy days. You are building the foundation of a healthy future that includes nurturing foods and special occasion foods. You are remodeling yourself as an adaptable human.

Another way to love hummus is as the base for a soup or a sauce. It provides a lot of creamy protein without cholesterol. If I have one that is close to expired I stick it in the freezer and then I can use it in a soup later on.

Once you start thinking of your diet and exercise program as some sort of punishment instead of nourishment, are you really doing it at all? It sounds like you need to try something different but you have no time to do it. This fitness thing is not a temporary state of life, if you want to maintain your accomplishments…

The treadmill is great for barefoot or sock footed jogs or fartlek. I up the incline and keep the pace slow. When I run on TM flat it hurts within the first minute. When I go slow and steep on the TM, I am building power muscles that will serve me well when I get a chance to get back outside to a trail.

In Gretchen Reynolds' book "The First 20 minutes" she presents the case for working out in your pajamas before your first meal, in order to have the most fat burning impact. In the beginning any new effort is going to change the energy balance. I would work on pushing yourself through basic moves - squats, lunges, walking…

1200 + 925 = 2125-1568 =557. That is how MFP calculates it. I am also wondering how you burned 925 calories from exercise, (run a marathon maybe?) but even if it is true, many successful MFPers choose to not 'eat back' all their exercise calories until they are in maintenance mode, not in weight loss. You need to eat to…

Me too. I need a reset. I want to try carb cycling but I am scared of getting ravenous and bingeing.

Please add me, I am 52 180 trying for functional fitness and feeling comfortable in my clothes.

If going inside yourself is too difficult, getting outside usually helps me. Hey you've been on MFP for almost a year, you know that the passage of time is observable from many levels, from far out to too darned close. Get some perspective and some fresh air if you can. 2015 is almost done!!! Hooray! :)

When I told him I was getting a trainer after all these years of DIY, he didn't flinch.
