Nope, sounds like you're asking the right questions.

Lots of awesome stuff at http://iowagirleats.com as well. You should also look at this MFP post: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/683419-websites-like-skinny-taste

If you have an iPhone, don't forget to download the SL5x5 app. It's a great way to track your progress and it keeps your timing correct during your workout. Don't get intimidated, get strong! Remember, most of the guys using the equipment don't have any more of a clue than you.

Can't go wrong with StrongLifts, Starting Strength, or JCDfitness beginner routine. www.stronglifts.com www.startingstrength.com www.jcdfitness.com Any one of those three will get you on the right path to strength training.

What purpose does this serve?

Fellow Hoosier here. Welcome to MFP!
-
Absolutely.

I do this nearly every day. Helps keep me in line.

Wow, great link. **Evernoted**

Great ideas! I'm an organizational freak but strangely hadn't organized my Evernote folders all that well.
-
This.
-
I do the same thing.
-
You sound like me.

Evernote is awesome for storing recipes on the fly (especially using the WebClipper utility). I just use tags for each one that are pertinent and I can search them whenever I'd like. And, it's all available on my iPad, iPhone, and PC.

Absolutely. Move to 1600 per day and don't look back. You'll feel fuller, but more importantly, you'll be eating above your BMR but with a 15% cut, so you'll still lose weight. http://scoobysworkshop.com/accurate-calorie-calculator/

I'd bump up to between 1900 and 2000. That's well below your TDEE so you'll still lose weight, but healthier and a bit more under control pace wise.

You can't spot reduce fat.
-
Bump.

What?

Thanks.

Exactly.

alexluong was spot on above. You will not gain weight in a caloric deficit, even if you're only eating twinkies.

Welcome and congrats on the 6lbs. If you start to plateau, you might consider bumping your intake to at least 1400 cal/day (net) as that's your BMR. Good luck on your journey.
-
Yep.

There's plenty of us lurking around. Good luck on reaching your goal! Hopefully the spinning goes well.

Consider trying a program like Starting Strength or StrongLifts 5x5. I've seen this work for a few c-section moms.
-
Exactly.

This system works well for me too.
