  • Id guess about 5%, so probably many many thousands of active UK people. I know what you mean, Americans are perfecly fine, but it is nice to see the journey from a UK perspective.
  • Agree with OP about the epidemic of this sort of thread. I just find it a bit breathaking people cant use some common sense. It also underline the fact that understanding basci cico and a litle bit about nutrution generates all the guidance you need. For goodness sake chill out peeps.
  • HIIT has its place as well as advantages, but isnt the answer for everything. Steady state has plusses as well. If you are exhausted after 30 minutes walking, then you really need to build your fitness up first, it will come quite quickly, but id get to a stage where you feel a bit more in control. Slideaways approach…
  • No, youd be better off going for a walk. Stairmaster imo is a completely diffeent thing and set at the right speed can be a very effective bit of cardio.
  • I am scrupulous about fueling workouts, so they dont tend to leave me hungry. I find going to the gym I can eat less overall becayse im in the gym, away from food and I drink more water. I might have a hunger overall, but I cant think of it. one of the advantages I will have are the eatback calories if needed.
  • Surely if you do something through choice, then overall you are motivated to do it otherwise you wouldnt? OP you just need to be better organised.
  • For the rower then you cna use concepts adjustment calculator. http://www.concept2.co.uk/indoor-rowers/training/calculators/calorie-calculator For a very rough rule of thumb id use either the more coservative reading or failing that id eat between 25-50% of the claories mfp gave me and adjust based on that. 12k is fine…
  • +1 and were my thoughts straught away, even more. What you should do is whatever choice you make its a choice made by you so dont fret and do enjoy your holiday.
  • Nope I put in real work and i sweat, just never had the problem from there. Sweat isnt an altogether reliable method of judging whether you are working hard or not. If you cna find the model you want then id use ebay.
  • Dodnt ralise id repeated it. It was more just a surprise that people sweat there. Theres also earbuds designed for swimming, so you cna wash them out. I also want sound isolation from my phones as well as what sofa said about not having them fall out. http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-exercise-headphones/…
  • Never had that problem, but if you do then you should invest in a pair that are designed for ym work or use larger size on ear ones. Yurbuds, sennheiser cx685i theres loads, just look at the reviews. i dont have sweaty ears, so dont have the problem.
  • Take it calm and steady. Read this post which is a quick guide to how weight loss works. Its straightforward, but do learn as much as you cna about good habits for effective weight loss, dont stress and just be quietly confident that if you follow eating at a consistent deficit then you will lose over time. Eat a bit less…
  • What wolfman said. part of what ive learned is the cliche listen to your body. Some soreness might go with things because youve exercised, so you need to be able to identify whats normal (doms, fatigue) from the biggy which would be a potential injury. Soreness I might go with up to a point. Actual pain, then id stop and…

  • Start with figuring out whay you wnat to lose so you understand why you will be doing things. Educate yourself in how weight loss works. Read the guide on this thread. http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1080242/a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-sexypants/p1 Decide what it will take and whether you are…
  • Doesnt look like you are using scales though. If you arent losing but you arent controlling your deficit accurately then its much easier to believe you are in deficit, when in fact you are at maintenabce= avoidable frustration
  • This and maybe those who look can see things that you cannot.
  • I understand the being done thing, but as its a lifesyle change then you are going to have to be mindful from now on anyway. If you pass the not eating more than you think, fine. I would say again just be patient and see. Maybe even go to maintenance for a few weeks to give yourself an rest. Ten days still isnt enough and…
  • I reckon the geek group muse be one of the largest on MFP, its all the sitting.
  • err no and just read the link provided. Understand how weight loss works and improve your understanding. A week is not enough time, but you need to lose weight over a period of time and as weight loss is not linear, then its impprtant to learn how to be patient.
  • If you are talking about one machine being better than another (for calorie burns) then its really more dependant on the user rather than the machine. Im also ignoring the truism of use the one you like etc. In terms of the cardio then the rower will also give you a full body workout, but if you dont put the effort in,…
  • I wouldnt worry unless for a medical reason you have to control your blood sugar. Think id do MFP though becayse its really just cico, whereas lost of the others are just manufactured systems to pretend they have some special method and hope that it gets success. Cico and mfp are calories laid bare, its also got the best…
  • I must have misread then. I assumed the sad face was the reaction to your contribution about neding the thread because OP was giving a hug and you didnt like it. No time for a cripple fight and need to be off. To spare your feelings you will see I have now edited it out. Enjoy your day.
  • Im pleased for you that you are feeling great and hope you make progress towards your goal today. The sun is shining here. I will feel great after ive hit my tragets at the gym today. I didnt realise it was group, the grope was much better.
  • Im suprised considering you are a very experienced dieter that you are fretting over a 10 day slowdown. Weight loss isnt linear and id suggest just checking your loogging is accurate and keep on doing the same for longer. If nothing changes then yo are either eaing more thna you think or burning less. Weight loss just…
  • Read up on it and learn how it works. Im intensely logical and analytical so I have to know how it works, but once you do and accept it, then you realise it applies to you, just the same as everyone else and you will lose weight in the same way as everyone else. the task os that you follow it properly and most notably…
  • People are bad enough at estimating their own exertion, one persons vigorous is anothers moderate.
  • Countung calories and eating at a consistent deficit will work, its just you havent been doing it properly. By all means do it by low carbs, but its the deficit that matters.

  • Ofc auddii is correct in that its the one you will use consistently. There is also the point that the amount of calories you burn will depend on the intensity and duration of your exercise. Whilst what you consume is your port of first call for weight loss and you need to sort that out first then doing consistent exercise…
  • The way its cooked and just apply some common sense. the things with most calories will be deep friend or things with heavy sauces. Your fallback is portion control. Rather than fret, jsut eat soemthing you enjoy and dont go overboard.
