  • I have a pair of size TWO...total vanity sizing fluke! ...but I'll take it too!
  • I've logged over 1,000 miles since I started tracking my mileage on 27 Feb 2016. Prior to that I was mostly doing intervals on the treadmill and elliptical. In the beginning, I wasn't running more than 3-5 miles at a time and my average pace was 10-11 minutes per mile. In June I managed my first 10-mile run and that has…

  • I discovered a new one while on vacation... They have a Tuscan herb seasoned nut mix. Delicious and dangerous!
  • I had to do a two week liquid diet. I drank a lot of warm bone broth with a little hot sauce...it was a nice reprieve from the sweet protein shakes and something about the spiciness was very satisfying.
  • Despite being grumpy from not being able to run (I injured my back earlier this week), I was feeling very strong and lean. These pictures are about 23 months apart. I'd like to say that I got to half of my starting weight. This morning I was less than 2 pounds from that goal.
  • Me Too by Megan Trainor ...and I sing along (hangs head in shame).
  • I trained for my first 5k entirely on the treadmill and elliptical. Are you using any incline when you're running on the treadmill? While nothing will really stimulate road running, a 3-5% incline will help prepare you...and I find it eases some of the stress on my knees and back when I'm on the "dreadmill". A year ago I…
  • Knee high boots. Normal width calf. Slipped right on. Boom.
  • My nine year old says that now almost every time she hugs me. I never get tired of hearing it!
  • Yes, thank you, I've been hitting it hard with stretches throughout the day to unfreeze it. We often talk about something being a pain in the butt...this time I literally have a pain in the butt! @NicoleL874 looks amazing!!!
  • A dubious victory surely...but I have an ATHLETIC injury. Instead of having aches and pains from being fat I have pain because I may have been running too much. My right piriformis muscle is both rejoicing and weeping...
  • I tend to binge from time to time too--though a calling it a binge now compared to what I used to do is laughable! When I've been running a lot of miles, my appetite and snackiness get out of control. During these periods, I have a rule that I can have what I want so long as I eat a handful of sugar snap peas first. They…
  • I second this. You are much too early in this journey to worry about getting too few calories. Focus on getting sufficient nutrition and water and healing enough to start working toward your fitness goals. Right now your body will utilize the extra stores it has available and supplement the calories you are ingesting. As…
  • It is more likely the restrictions and requirements of your insurance company than UTMB that is the cause of the long approval period; assuming, of course, that UTMB has submitted all that they should. I started my process with a Cigna insurance program with a UT Physician's surgeon in March and I had my surgery in July. I…
  • I've had good success with the Bariatric Advantage brand. I use the one with the iron; it is a gel capsule. I sometimes even just throw them into my bottle of water with a flavored drink mix and let it dissolve. It has to be agitated frequently but it has eliminated most of the stomach upset that I periodically experience.…
  • That is a great improvement on the run! I find that I'll get stuck somewhere for a while and then just break through. I was getting frustrated at not getting below 95 minutes...and then I managed a 92 then an 89! Now my 10 mile run is consistently below 94 minutes. I'm determined to balance things out a little better. I…
  • I work from home quite a bit too...but I mostly just drink too much coffee! I'm sure a number of things can be subbed in but I like to write recipes exactly as I made them so I can track what might go "wrong" if I change something. Most of mine are in an Excel sheet so that I can easily see the impact of switching out…
  • Reactive hypoglycemia can occur. Definitely a reason to visit the doctor.
  • Protein Brownies 16 servings 100 grams prunes 237 grams beans, Eden Organic Black Soybeans (1 can drained and rinsed) 2 tsp vanilla 2 each eggs, large, room temperature 113 grams chocolate, Baker’s 66% Bittersweet Baking Bar (1 bar) 124 grams protein powder Syntrax Matrix Perfect Chocolate (4 scoops) 1 packet coffee,…
  • Oh yes! My relationship with food is better but I think that I will struggle with it for the rest of my life. I've managed to devise some RNY friendly treats (protein brownies, homemade yogurt with protein powder, cottage cheese mixed with sugar free jello powder) that take the edge off for the most part. I have really…
  • Aw, you're so sweet! It is an especially flattering picture...it is a good angle for my butt! I, too, have the body that I'm supposed to have...strong, fit, energetic, less pain than I have had in years. Strange though that I am much more critical of it now...
  • I've had the same. I work remotely so I go months without seeing some co-workers. There are some who, even though they know I've lost weight, only "remember" the fat me and am surprised every time they see me.
  • I have mixed feelings toward you. On one hand, I'm so impressed by your amazing transformation. On the other hand, I'm seriously annoyed that you only weigh 10 pounds more than I do! Please tell me you're like 4' 9"...lol.
  • Halloween 2014 Halloween 2016
  • I'm with you. I have a hard time reconciling myself with my new body too though!
  • Our girls!
  • If I'm drinking a glass of milk, I want ice cold whole milk. I don't drink it much though because my stomach doesn't handle it so well. For my shakes, oatmeal, etc. I use an array of non-dairy milks. One of my favorite choices right now is Almond Breeze Unsweetened Chocolate Almond Milk. It is great in coffee with some…
  • Thank you! I'm feeling great too. Next week I'm going to see people that I haven't for about 6 months...it will be very shocking to them.
