Is it safe for type 2 diabetics? I find that when I dont eat enough carbs I become hypoglycemic.

Because watching my kids grow up is more important than a Big Mac. Because my health is more important than that piece of chocolate cake. Because I am beginning to enjoy the way I feel and look and so is my wife.

Hi valligurl27. I'm 51 years old and like you, have COPD. I will tell you for me, losing weight has really helped. I am up to 40 minutes of cardio on my treadmill daily. I am also a type 2 diabetic. MFP has been great for me. So much info and support. Welcome and feel free to add me!!

I also echo what sushi549 said!!!

Welcome Jordyn!! I am also a type 2 diabetic and know the struggle. You can overcome this and get healthier. I made the mistake of being in denial of my diabetes and the effects were horrible. Now my blood sugars are under control and, so far, 19 pounds thinner since August 1st. I joined MFP in September and its been…

Hi. First of all glad to see you are taking the first steps. If I would give any advice it would be to ease into it and be patient. I am 51 years old and I know how hard it is. I've been on MFP for about a month and a half but have lost about 70 lbs over the last 5 yrs. I got tired of losing and gaining and realized I had…

Thanks everone for youe comments!! I'm not insulin dependent. I do a pill regimen twice daily. As stated earlier I was fortunate enough to get rid of the sodas, even diet, as I can't stand the taste of them. I will do the research!

Thanks everyone for all the wonderful advice. I guess I wasn't prepared to not be hungry some days. I've gotten to the point where I can now have a little of this or a little of that and not want to eat the whole darn thing so I guess I can start adding some healthy variety. THANKS!!!!!

Thanks jillMarie125. The peanut butter suggestion is a great idea. I am weighing and measuring everything. I had thought about adding something like Glucerna.

I echo what Lelah77 said. I'm 51 and a former Marine. I was used to being able to lose weight quickly. Now that i'm older I understand the importance of slow steady weight loss through healthier eating habits. I exercise at least 4-5 times a week. I joined MFP in September but began changing my eating habits in August due…

Hi. As a diabetic even my "cheat meals" have to be closely monitored. I will say since joining MFP my glucose levels are the lowest they've been in 7 years and I don't take insulin. I tried the whole "cheat" thing and it's just not something I can handle yet.
