@tsw42 and @linnea27 There has not been much discussion here but it would be great if we could get an active group.

I am going to make it "Meditative May". I have been thinking about making this a daily practice for months now and I find it very difficult. I really think it will help me focus which is the first step in getting back on track for eating and exercise etc. So at least 5 minutes. At least once a day. Small goal I know but I…

Hi you two, I was diagnosed with lactose intolerance 30 years ago. Turned out it was gluten all along. It took a year of avoiding gluten to get back to managing milk. I also seem to have a problem with corn since corn starch as a thickener seems to bother me too. Any ideas on this would help. I would love to have a group…

Me too. I was diagnosed as lactose intolerance for 30 years. Finally, got a good diagnoses of gluten intolerant and it took over a year of avoid gluten for the lactose problem to disappear. I am now enjoying regular milk. I think I might also have a problem with corn since corn starch as a thickener bothers me. Any help in…

Hi all, Sorry for the absence again. On Easter Monday, the husband of my neighbour who takes care of my house when I am away, was taken to hospital. He died the following Friday. So that week, I was doing what I could for Sharon and her dog, who is old and leaky. So I was busy and sad. Then after Jim died, again, doing…

@RalfLott , :) thanks.

I am in your boat too. My HDL and LDL are close to a one to one relationship. Trigs are very low. Total cholesterol is high. They don't do the other tests here in Canada either. As you might remember, when I got the same news from my doctor, I lifted my carbs to between 50-60 grams and ate a good deal of oatmeal and beans.…

hi @vickimcdonald73 , me again. I have quoted here from the resource area of the low carbers group. http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/394-low-carber-daily-forum-the-lcd-group "Ketosis Plans: The lowest carb plans are ketosis plans. Here carb intake ranges from zero to 50g daily. The aim of these plans are to…

well done Gayle! Finally I have reliable internet at least for 2 days but I dropped my pad thimy 2 days ago and it has a cracked screen, now. Still functional but it has some new 'problems'. There is a new computer in my future I think. We are now in an 1840's house; a beautiful B&B. A 2 hour drive north of Hobart. we have…

hi ladies, I am still coughing but getting better. Slept last night without cough medicine but still out on the couch. We have had heavy rain off and on every day we have been in our little cottage by the beach so no long beach trips or any golf at all. But we have walked on the beach and have been swimming a few times.…

there is lots of really good advice, resources and support over at: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/394-low-carber-daily-forum-the-lcd-group Water weight is generally the first couple of days. But as in most weight loss, your body has its own timetable. Even in keto 1-2 lbs a week is the usual recommended rate…

hi Pam, glad to hear of your success. as I have said before maintenance is so hard. the cheering squad disappears. non poisonous snakes are good. I am currently struggling with a cold and a cough in Australia. Not fair. should not happen on vacation! they have had a very wet spring and summer here. I gather than the…

There are loads of us over at: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/394-low-carber-daily-forum-the-lcd-group and there are lots of resources and diabetics doing ketogenic diets there. Everyone is at a different stage. Very…

hi folks, when I get home, I will change how I store my scale, thank you, Pam. I am still struggling with the GF issues. We went off for a few days to the wine area and breakfast offerings were not good for me. I have also had more sugar than usual. Trying hard to control what I can control. We are off to another SIL today…

Hi folks, I am still here too! Congrats on the new grandbaby beth. It may not be your first but it is her first, so exciting! And WW does work. I am still plodding along upping my fiber and lessening my carbs. Pam, good to hear on the bone scan. I do not have my numbers but they said I was low density but low risk of…

Your idea of strawberries and chocolate sounds great! Angel food cake is good too as long as you use a sweetener and there are lots of ideas on dietdoctor.com or ruled.me

Well done on your first month! I know what you mean by using the posts from this group to keep sane. It balances out the advice you get from others and it keeps me focused. I am sorry that you have been through such a tough time. It seems it is time for you. Thanks for posting.

Usually a 2:1 liquid to oats but add more oats for thicker. Just a couple of tablespoons more. Let it stand for a minute or two after microwaving or cooking on stove. It thickens as it sits. I use old fashioned not quick too.

oh my goodness @canadjineh I hope it gets better soon. Why do pain meds always run out too soon? They all seem to.

Thanks for posting. Really helpful. Because I believed I was doing it wrong. I have been all over the place and I am just coming back into a balanced approach. Started with high fat but felt crappy." Do not be afraid of fat" isn't the same as" eat all you want for ever". the blood work said "Low fat". Tried that. Felt…

Good job Beth! A huge success if you can have a week out of routine and still manage to eat well. I am back at my low of 162 so I am going the right way too. It is the same 3 lbs up and down and up and down. I am hoping to keep it heading down. I am off to Australia next Thursday. Flying out on Friday so dieting will…

If you are early days , maybe you are hungry or not yet fat adapted so that cravings are still there, but either way, a hard boiled egg solves it for me. Not delicious, so don't want more, very filling and if it is all I am "allowed" gets boring quite quickly. We also have nuts in the shell left over from Christmas guests.…

It is tough because I think statin medication will be reduced in the next 10 years when a greater understanding and/or acceptance of what really is a risk for CVD filters through the main stream medical world. I guess I think of it like HRT. It was so accepted, then it was a no-no, now it is back but less. I can offer no…

@JedsMom63 Caring for someone with kidney stones, almost as bad as having them. I was at my wits end on how to give relief for my husband. No surgery just homecare until he passed it. Longest 5 days. My brother had to have ultrasound to break it up and then wait to pass it. I hope your husband is feeling better now. It is…
