Thanks all! Definitely sounds like shin splints. The things you learn as you go along...

Wow Kat, that's excellent! Hope you have a great run this weekend. Thanks all for putting my mind at ease with the heart rate. I've just had a text off a friend recommending a running shop that works out your stride and recommends the best shoes, so I'll get myself over there this weekend! Wish I'd asked these questions a…

Thanks, ATLMel, I'm running in the BUPA 10km challenge end of this month. I have a feeling that it may be an imbalance, and as I read this I'm remembering all the times I've forgotten the stretching...including this morning :-/

Thank you all. That's interesting about the review of Dr Dukan and Jenni Murray's experience.

Thanks for that, it sounds like there's a definite weight drop in the attack phase, but I guess like any of these diets there's a question of how long you can keep it up. I'll go back to upping my protein for a while, and maybe I can do a week of the Dukan in between.

SaketoKim you look like the life of the party :)

I think the important part is that you lifted every day, if you hadn't the weightloss would have been muscle and not fat, so for anyone not lifting the body is going to hold onto fat and eat up muscle....which I guess is what people call starvation mode???

Nooooooooooooooooooooooo! Lol, thanks for just coming out and saying it. No sugar-coating please  One my friends is a skinny guy, bordering on underweight. He said he doesn't tend to eat much in the evenings when fasting because when he breaks his fast with a cup of tea the hunger goes away! Then he simply eats a…

i hadn't heard this, have to admit that with the exception of the to hrs immediately after swimming, i don't feel very hungry. i find it a struggle to eat about 2000, though have forced myself into that range because of the bmr calculator on fat to fit radio, which suggested that at sedentary i eat 1810 at moderate…

When i started i did wonder as everyone else seems so low! bug a few mfp friends have taken to swimming you once or twice a week, and when they do their cals used are similar. i swim 65 - 90 minutes when i can, both mfp and sites online to calculate the call used from exercise show swimming as a major calorie burn. 65 mins…

Well, I have a friend who's been training as a personal trainer. We don't usually talk 'shop', but I decided to ask him too. I sent him some printed screen shots of the MFP diary in a an e-mail. So for anyone else going through what I am, this is what I got back: "HI ya…. that’s a really clever food diary… I like that……

115lb is an amazing loss. How long did it take you to get where you are now?

good on you! x

^^^ This Pool is great for burning calories
-
ditto on the kinect adventures!

i love Your Shape, and log it as aerobics. I do the same thing with the kinect adventure games, though I doubt that's very accurate (certainly the obstacles game burn more the underwater game, etc). I guess an hrm can be useful to get a clearer idea, but for now I just log the time a little less than my actual work out as…

This morning I swam 108 lengths in 90 minutes, and after the mid seventies I got a new energy surge, and that stayed with me the rest of the day. So having more energy/stamina...my favourite NSV to date :)
