  • I do think it double counts in some cases. I'm sure in the past I have set my Garmin watch to running mode and Garmin Connect sent MFP the running calories plus the same amount again as general activity/walking calories. I'll test again at the weekend when I go running.
  • My goal is to get to a healthy bf % then my goal will shift to maintenance. Wins along the way are great but I need to look at the bigger picture. My primary goal has lots of measurable points along the way, like waist size, quality of life, health indicators, physical exercise, great food choices, daily logging, new…
  • I measure bbq sauce, salad cream, butter, slices of cheese, tomato ketchup, almond milk and most other foods I eat. I don't measure cucumber, salad leaves or tomatoes. I add them to my sandwich and guesstimate 100g for them. I like to measure and weigh things, it's part of the winning formula so why would you not?
  • With a 116 posts you are not a noob. I'm surprised you needed to post this question. Also, before the meal how far under your daily goal were you?

  • Others have said this already, have you recalculated your daily calorie goal in MFP to check it's not changed.
  • I'm staying all inclusive in Spain at the moment with a week left. I took my regular protein powder with me and have a shake and banana or grapefruit for breakfast, a healthy buffet lunch with lots of salad and fruit. Dinner is a grilled meat or fish and something on the side. I estimate I'm eating about my calories goal…
  • That seems manageable. There is a difference between all out gym work, running at pace and cycling for 2 hours vs a healthy physical lifestyle. I think you fall under the healthy lifestyle category. Your body will tell you if it needs rest. Muscles will hurt, energy levels will drop and your mood will suffer (for me…
  • @wolfe1234 & @StaciMarie1974 thank you both very much, this is really helpful. Sorry OP for hijacking the thread and good luck.
  • @wolfe1234 can I check that you are saying I can continue to lose 2lbs a week until I hit the level of the healthy weight range for my height? The healthy range is 144 to 188 lbs. I thought I needed to slow down my weight loss as I got closer to my goal weight. I'd be very pleased to have this belief corrected as it means…
  • You really don't need to do the 24 day program to get results, but I hope it helps start life long changes for you. The MFP users tend to be a group that follow CI<CO to get results and this definitely works. :-)
  • Daily with Happy Scale, I think it is a great app :-)
  • People are going to tell you that 2lbs a week is too fast if you only have 25lbs to lose. I can't comment yet as I have 70lbs to lose still, but I would take notice of what people say.
  • My personal view is that water weight should be far down the list of things you think about day to day as you try and lose weight. Why bother?
  • Beef Jerky
  • Protein shake with ground oats.
  • Is this correct? I'm 6'1" and currently 250lbs and looking to get to 185lbs. If theory, could I lose 2lbs of fat per week and if I eat 200g plus of protein per day I can retain lean muscle mass all the way to 185lbs? I suspect this is not going to be correct but I am no professional.
  • I don't think you should take the Woo button as people agreeing, I think it is the opposite.
  • I'm a man, yes I am :-)
  • Beef Jerky, Allmax Isoflex protein powder, sparkling water, grapefruit juice and salmon.

  • I'm surprised you are looking for motivation given the above words :-) You are doing great!!
  • This might help.
  • OP, do you still hit your calorie goal for the day. That is what matters. I personally am not happy sabotaging my days work with mindless snacking. I think you perhaps need to be more mindful about what you want to achieve and why you are doing it. CICO is not rocket science.
  • I heard that green skittles work well as a weight loss aid. Don't eat the red ones though, they make you sleepy.
  • A myth, and this is something I actively avoid. I'm not willing to put my good work with CICO at risk by having a splurge. If I want something I work it in to my daily or weekly calories. I fancied a Whopper (minus mayo) from BK after the gym the other night and went there and enjoyed it. I finished my day slightly under…

  • I did something similar 8 years ago and 4 years ago. Both times it ended in a huge crash. I think I managed about 5 months both times losing a bout 80lbs. I started running at 250lbs + and burned even more calories. By the end, when I could do it no longer, all I wanted to do was eat. It is not a way to lose weight. It has…
  • I agree with gebeziseva above. Your health is important and you should be getting more support rather than being pointed towards house projects and the like. Be honest with your husband and tell him what you want/need and tell him why. Keep going, we are here to try and give you some support.
  • You have the number 78 in your MFP username, is that the year you were born. If you are 39/40 years old you have lots of time on your side. Just make a start on the suggestions people have made on this forum and in 6 months to a year you will be in a different place, and in 2 years who knows what great shape you will be…

  • The Happy Scale app will set smaller goals for you along the way and track overall percentage to main goal. I like to work towards the smaller goals as I go :-)
  • I know from reading lots of posts that many of the successful, long term MFP members, eat what they want/need and stay within the daily and/or week calorie goals set for them by MFP. I do the same and try and eat a balanced diet and I am steadily loosing weight. My diary is open. It is all about CI vs Co. Just try and work…
  • Have a read of this thread, they come up daily: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/comment/39929547#Comment_39929547 I think you are going to be fine. It's all about CICO :-)
