  • I do it all the time! Well not ALL the time, but it happens. I just know myself now, that I count on it happening when I have plans to go out and make sure to burn extra extra calories that day so that it won't be as huge as an impact.
  • Hi Sugarlove! I know it's hard... damn sometimes its just so hard... but it can get easier, you just have to stick with it! What really helped me, almost changed my life really was the South Beach Diet. I would highly recommend you looking into it. There is alot of information on the internet about it too. I'll break it…
  • Apparently chewing gum actually increases your metabolism because it makes you salivate and tricks your body into thinking it's eating...or something along those lines. I believe I may have heard it off Oprah.
  • Good luck!!
  • I don't know much about sodium, except for the high blood pressure... but alot of people recently have been telling me to watch my sodium intake... apparently it prevents you from losing weight not just because of the gain of water but something biochemical. I'm not sure of the scientific reason... i think its just…
  • I always found the first week of starting to diet the hardest. For me I sip water constantly and try to keep busy to keep my mind off of it. Hang in there and it will get easier!
  • Thank you neverbeenskinny! I think for me it's muscle cell memory and I've never heard of that before. It's really interesting! Thank you
  • Does anyone know how much muscle gain should be expected for women when working out? Just curious... I put on about 8lbs of muscle in the last two months and that seems high to me.
  • It makes me wonder about the chlorine added in drinking water...
  • Maybe i wasn't too clear... sorry I meant 1200 calories isn't too much more than 800 that you should go for the full 1200 even though your not hungry.
  • I can totally talk from experience here telling you that you need to up your calories. When I first decided to start losing weight i drastically cut my calories. I don't know how far I cut them, I just know that all of a sudden i stopped eating whatever I wanted to and ate salads ...vegetables all day.. low fat yogourt…
  • I thought this was interesting, http://entertainment1.sympatico.msn.ca/TV_Guide/TVNews/Articles/071019_biggest_loser_MH
  • Like viviakay said, I've also heard peameal bacon called canadian bacon and back bacon. Its good!
  • One of my favourite fatty things to have for breakfast is eggs and peameal bacon. I dont know what your aim is for calories in the morning, but if you have poached eggs two, hardboiled or even a fried with a bit of pam instead of butter 2 eggs only comes to about 155 calories. Add two slices of peameal bacon (which has…
  • Oh I thought I would also add incase this helps, something in liquid form (soup, juice, etc) is easier digested that something solid. Also something cooked, like cooked brocolli is faster digested that raw brocolli and keeps you full longer. If its instant, like instant oatmeal or minute rice, it's digested alot faster…
  • I think this can mostly be explained by your body's chemistry. Basically, when you eat foods high in sugar or high in processed carbs (such as white bread, pasta etc..) or foods that are easily digestable such as noodle soup, your stomach and GIT break this down very easily and it causes a surge of sugar in your blood.…
  • Hi! Well I'm 5'10 (woman), I'm 22 and I would like to lose around 30 lbs. I'm tired of not feeling comfortable in my own body and am determined to get in control and lose some of the weight. I feel like I'm predisposed to gaining weight because of genetics and my body type (which seems to put on weight so easily but fights…
  • Hmm, I never really thought about it like that, but it makes sense. Its wierd when you're dealing with the human body because you've got your brain ith its own mind, the one we're conscious of and the body is always treated separately... but it's almost as if it has its own mind too, one that we're not really connected to.…
  • I find I actually feel better since starting to excercise again. Things are working better, and i think the sore muscles take away from the joint pain. Just sometimes lethargy... that's the worse. But thank you for your imput. :)
  • Well... I guess that's a no... but i was worth a try eh?
  • Same here, I have acid reflux disease too, but I find eating healthy especially cutting down in greasy foods and eating much more veggies (plus water) I don't need tums, medication ... nothing. Its great.
  • That's true, and most low carb diets even claim "lose belly fat first!".
  • They are just losing water. You don't actually 'lose' fat through sweat. Sweating is just a sign that you're burning calories, but the amount of sweat is not proportional to the amount of fat you're burning.
  • Well, i think it depends on what kinds of fats you are going over on. If its unsaturated, I say thats Ok. At the same time you don't want to be taking ALL your calories in fat. Studies have shown that eating unsaturated fat can actually help you loose weight as well it's good for your brain and helps keep your skin tight…
  • Haha, oh yes of course. I see my doctors regularly... they're very supportive. I'm in pretty healthy shape and my condition is relatively inactive with just the occaisional flare up.. but at the same time there are some rough patches and just wondering if anyone out there is in a similar situation as me.
  • I had the same problem, and actually went into starvation mode for a long time, which I this really contributed to slowing down my weight loss. I worked with my trainer and added more food into my meals. One thing he recomended that really helped me were to get meal replacement shakes. I just went to my local health store…
  • I'm trying to lose weight. My mom and I both have crohn's and unlike alot of people who suffer from the disease, I don't lose. I think my metabolism has just slowed down so much that all I have to do is look at food and I gain weight.
