Agreed. It's primarily designed for those that are in decent shape but want to take it to the next level. That being said I was 214 pounds when I started and hadn't really lifted weights in a long time. the first weeks were brutal. Now 4+ rounds later I'm holding steady at 180 and about 12% body fat. You are shown how to…

I totally agree, you need all three!

Alcohol will most definitley hinder weight loss. It's not about the calories but the alcohol itself that your body needs to metabolize. While doing that it begins to store the other caloires you've consumed. A glass of wine or a beer a week is probably fine but on a nightly basis you're just going to be treading water. I…

Honestly, I would recommend just do the Classic version of P90X. The program was designed that way. The lean version was a complete after though created for those women that feared getting muscular. That's not going to happen. Women in general lack the chemistry to gain substantial muscle. Even in men, the program is not…

It's great mixed in shakes but on its own its weird as it has had all the oil taken out, the texture is off putting to me. Kind of pricey but awesome peanut butter flavor for 45 calories

My wife cooked just 2 ounces once and the cooked drained weight was 4.4 ounces. That's what I use. Tim

What kind of medication? HAve your doctor prove to you that there is a benefit from the medication he'she wants to put you on. I've done a lot of research on this topic as I have family members that are taking STatins, like Lipitor. All the evidence today suggests that the only pople that benefit from statins are men with…

I agree with the others. If it is a "bonus" exercise session then it is cool. Every 200 calories burned counts!!!! As a rule, you should be an active participant in your workout. HArd to do that while reading.

I use a blender as I just use water and ice to thicken it up.

My advice is if you haven't been working out prior to starting this, you should wait. If you have to go at 60% of the pace they do in the video then you aren't ready for it. That said you aren't going to be able to do every workout all the way through the first time, but if you have to stop every 2 minutes ot catch your…

I would not wait. Lifting now will help prevent muscle loss on a calorie restircted diet comprised of cardio only. Women shold not be afraid of lifting heavy. Females lack the chemstry to develop big muscles. To add muscle means to gain weight, hard to do when restricting your calories to lose fat. I say start lifting. Tim

Well, the mother of all strength/cardio programs is P90X but that's about 3 hours of lifting a week. CHAlean Extreme is another program with less time committment.

I'm with ya. It's the uniform I don't like. HAve nothing but respect for those guys that just won the Super Bowl!! We're all here to support you!!!! Tim

It is a sign of improved cardiovascular fitness. As your heart gets into better shape it takes longer for it to get to a higher # of beats per minute. It's is harder to stay at that higher level and you recovery faster. Just have to kick things up a notch to get to the same high high rate as before. Take as a sign your…

Sometimes you can only eat some much chicken and tuna in a day. Dairy causes issues for some people so they can get protein that way. Edit, but your point is well taken, protein from real food is always the preference in my book.

Dymatize: Elite Gourmet Milk chocolate. Best tasting chocolate on the market I think. It's a whey Casein blend. I buy online.

I tried egg beaters but too much sodium for me. I mix at least one whole egg in with 4 whites.

Day 45 Round 5 Got up at 5:30 this morning for Back and Biceps. Ouch! Tim

What I like best is the results: 1) I actually have muscle tone and definition when I take my shirt off 2) more energy 3) I wear jeans that are actually loose around the waist and still only 32's Tim

I put off doing it for so long because I was afraid it was too hard. I'm now in the middle of my fifth round since February 2010. I couldn't even do one pushup from my toes when I started so you don't have to have the greatest fitness base for success. Don't let the first week determine your success. You'll be sore and…

My only comment is to give the Classic version a try. The program was designed that way. The Lean version was a complete after thought. put together for those women that feared getting bulky. It is essentially impossible to women on a calorie restricted diet to gain appreciable muscle. From my experience, your results will…

Wouldn't worry to much. Extremely hard to add muscle while restricting your calories, even more so for females. In general though, a balanced program with both cardio and weights focussing on slightly higher reps like the 12-14 range.

I struggle with much the same thing despite having read numerous studies showing that consuming more calories at breakfast tends to lead to more weight loss. Some things are easier said than done!

IT's reallymore sports specifc. Insanity is full on Carido, Asylum incorprates lots more strength training and like I said sport specifc drills.
-
DVD based exercise programs from Beachbody, the makers of P90X.
-
I know a couple people that have completed it. I guess not the cardio killer that insanity is, but what could? Not for the timid from what I hear. Good luck!
-
If you love what your doing that's half the battle. IT probably would be of some benefit to mix things up as your muscles adapt and get more efficient at doing that same thing over and over. So you'll burn fewer calories as time goes on. Try adding weights to mix for awhile or other carido that focuses on different areas.…

P90X is not designed as a weight loss program so there really is no caloric deficit built into it. It is for people alreayd close toi their ideal weight. When I started I was supposed to eat 3,000 calories. I got on the beachbody message boards and more experience people told me I needed to planin a deficit. I eat 2,300…
