I wore wide shoes my entire life. Then, at age 51, I lost 57 pounds and went down to a normal width. It's the last thing I ever expected! I think it's a combination of vanity sizing and the fact that my foot bones don't spread as much now that they don't have to hold up so much weight.

My feet have gone from size 8.5 (39) wide to 8 medium! I am absolutely blown away by this. My husband is also amazed -- by the five pairs of shoes I bought this week.

I now own Lee women's relaxed fit plain front pants in every size from 22W to 10.
-
My tights are loose!
-
I've lost 3 cats and a toy poodle!
-
Today I put on a bathing suit and got into a pool. The last time I did that was 1995.

I just bought a beautiful new car with a driver's seat that would have been too narrow for me 52 pounds ago. The salesman even told me, "This car is not for wide people," as though I weren't one of them!

I bought some girlie shoes today. It never occurred to me I could go from wearing only wide shoes to being able to wear normal width, but I have!

Confession: I spend way too much on my nails because I have a girl-crush on my manicurist.

Hey, it's just me reporting in from the past (where I still dwell). Back here it is 5:40 p.m. June 3, and I fear I will never catch up on this thread. So here ya go, an update and an observation from the past. Update: I have been wearing what I thought were very daring and cute new glasses for two solid weeks, and not one…

It's true what they say! You really ARE the nicest lady on this thread. FWIW, a co-worker today said, "Have you lost weight?" I guess I'll take that over, "Are those new glasses?"

I got new glasses that I think are really super cute! I have been wearing them a week and not one single person has noticed. Sad face.

Yes! I've lost 50 with about 20 to go, and it seems my previously relatively firm fat is all loose and flabby. My butt and thighs are more lumpy and cottage-cheesey than they were 50 pounds ago. I keep reassuring myself that this indicates I am making progress, but it's upsetting.

Confession 1: I have lived in coastal Florida for three years now, and I still have not stepped a single toe on the beach. Confession 2: I'm eating Talenti salted caramel peanut gelato while I'm writing this.

My husband and I got some food last night, and it was just ridiculously salty. He didn't eat his, but me? Hey, it's food, right? I ate it all even though I didn't like it. I knew even as I eating it that I'd be happier if I just went home and had a PB&J, but did that stop me? Today am I up three pounds from all that salt.…

I'm way behind, but THIS 100%! Marie Sharp's plus cheese on a whole wheat bagel is my favorite breakfast. Absolutely the best hot sauce ever.

Hi qn4(something about piano keys)aifd! I just made it to this spot in the thread. I'm pleased to report I finally lost the 2 pounds I gained eating shortbread and ice cream at that conference. (Maybe a little bit of regret still, but no permanent harm done.) Back here on April 20, 133 pages back on this thread, things are…

I suspect the OP's medication is not insulin, but rather one of the newer incretin therapies like Byetta. Are you injecting twice a day, OP? Nausea is a very prominent symptom of those drugs. Some patients adjust to it, but most are more comfortable on one of the long-acting preparations, like Bydureon or Tanzeum. They use…

Hooray for you! You will be amazed at how much your gym performance improves. AMAZED.

My "weight loss goal" is however much I weigh when I am finally too small for one single thing in the Woman Within catalog. I'm at medium right now, and there are some things they don't even carry in small, so I'm getting there! FWIW, this basically equates to a 30-inch waist.
-
I also vote that you take it with dinner. Metformin suppresses glucose production in the liver. That happens most at night, so you would get the most benefit from your metformin then.

I went to a 3-day conference full of health professionals, and I was not one of the noticeably obese ones. I fit right in with everyone else!

I'm now behind by 191 pages in this thread. Back here on page 223 it's March 25 at 10:29 a.m. I'm writing from the past to report that my prediction did in fact come true. I went to a 3-day professional conference and ate ice cream and shortbread. It could have been worse, though.

Hi all! I'm posting from page 211. That's 163 pages back in this thread. Back here it's March 23 at 10:39 p.m. I'm just writing to tell you that I am going out of town April 15 for a three-day intensive class, and I suspect I will purchase and eat as much as possible of a pint of that new Ben and Jerry's ice cream that has…

Hydrate! Since I posted that, I have made an effort to drink 2L of water every day, and my BF% has dropped almost a percentage point (and I feel better, too). Don't trust the scale measurement unless you know you are properly hydrated.
-
I am having the same problem as the OP. I started about 15 months ago with calorie restriction and elliptical workouts, and managed to burn through a fair amount of muscle that way. After I snapped to it, I started bodyweight cardio plus strength training and saw my BF% drop (based on measurement on an Aria scale). Any…

Today I fit into a shirt that was too tight when I bought it a month and a half ago, but that's not my NSV. The shirt is from Sahalie. Last year my sister-in-law saw me with the Sahalie catalog and asked, without malice, "Why are you looking in there? Aren't those clothes for skinny girls?" Yes. Yes, they are.

I worked a retail job where I had to stand 8-12 hours straight without a single break. At 222 pounds, it was murdering my feet and knees. I knew there was only one fix! Now I've lost 46 pounds, or as I like to think of it, 23 pounds per knee. I also quit that awful job and now I work in an office. ;)

The issue with mixing the two is that alcohol present in your system keeps your liver from releasing glucose into your bloodstream, as it does normally when your blood sugar drops. The combination of insulin and alcohol, therefore, can cause your glucose to go lower than is safe. You will have to evaluate that risk for…
