I found this recipe online with the nutrition value...81 calories, but 43 of that is from fat. I'd think that any estimate from 40 calories up would be good on skimmed broth. I do like having as much of the nutrient values as possible. :) http://allrecipes.com/recipe/chef-johns-homemade-chicken-stock/

@ksolksol Yes! Salmon patties, Yum! We don't even get that fancy, just egg and crushed saltines, sometimes onion, sometimes not. We usually pan fry in just a bit of oil or use a spray, but I keep aiming to try them oven baked sometime. Did I say yum? :yum:

Also in for results. The Usda site has it at 86 calories per cup. That seems high to me. Looks like I used something called 'Kitchen Basics- unsalted chicken broth' in the database when I made soup last week at 100 calories for 4 cups. I do know that I let the fat get solid and skimmed darn near every bit off.

Hi, I'm just a shade over 5 foot and quite sedentary. I have my doctors approval to do 1000 calories and under. Feel free to send a friend request and browse through my food diary. The weight isn't exactly falling off as my maintenance calories aren't far above that, but I am losing a little. Been logging for 30 days. I do…

Thanks for the great link! I'm thinking of doing a teeny tiny bit of strength work and I would have been upset had I not seen the weight gain explained so well!

Yes!!! Although I've got at least 14 more to go, these first 6 pounds have made a big difference. Even if it was mostly water, that took up a lot of room. I'm comfortable in my size 10 jeans and have worn them all day rather than changing back to stretch pants as soon as I got home. At 5' and 140, I felt like I was…

If you only drank zero calorie things during the past 5 days and are not off too much on your log for that time. I predict you will very soon see the scale number move down. :flowerforyou:

Yep. Actually 1800 calories is only about 1/3 pound loss per week at sedentary. Calorie burns tend to be over estimated, so it would be VERY easy to wipe out a deficit with no exercise and even easier if eating back any exercise calories.

Hi! I', 52 years old, 5' 1/2", currently 134 lb. Diary is open to friends, but be forewarned--I have medical approval for less than 1000 calories/day. Maintenance is about 1350 for me, so...yeah. Please send a message with friend request and I'll add ya!

If you feel fine, don't worry. If you feel bad, add more food. Try to get your protein in each day with some fats. Close your eyes and pick a multi-vitamin to keep that covered. Cheers!

In for the ideas!

I don't know why I even considered a wine glass. Duh--on the rocks! However, I'm sad to report it was rather anti-climatic. It wasn't as fizzy as I remember (from just a week ago!), not as biting and not even as sweet as I expected. Bummer. The next time I treat, I'll try a fountain drink. I really loved my Cokes! Oh, I…

Someone put me onto the fact that the recipe builder on the lower RH of the recipe page is the "old" builder and it is much easier to use. Also, I just did this the other day: I entered my recipe as 1 serving then I weighed my finished product (coleslaw) at 358 grams or whatever and made a note in my food diary. So when I…

LOL! Just don't burn yourself out on it to the point you can't even look at it again. I've never bought savoy cabbage, but regular cabbage will keep *forever* in the crisper. Just trim wilt back to fresh. I've used cabbage that has been in the fridge for way over a month.

I'm 5' and a whopping 1/2 tall. I'm 53 and had gained up to 140 since a sick spell/surgery in 09 when I was 110. I had been weighing around 120 for several years before, so that is my initial goal weight now. If that goes well, I may try to go on down to 115 or so which is what I weighed as a young adult.

Ya made me look  Pretty cute

I'm only in my 3rd week of using this site so I'm still in the honeymoon phase and rushing to log every morsel. I think that seeing those numbers make me aware of what I am eating and what to expect. (It sucks to realize it is going to take so long.) However, if you have used it before or counted calories in the past, you…

You're quite welcome  That's what is so lovely about these databases; once you've got your serving size weighed or measured all ya gotta do is hit enter. I sometimes enter a food into my diary that I am just thinking about in order to check calories and macros and then just delete it. I do check that the regular…

We started cutting out soda at home several years ago simply because of the expense and easily switched to tea (with caffeine). It wasn't long before I started substituting some of the sugar for artificial sweetener. I use Sweet n Low bulk; it's saccharine and less expensive than the newer stuff. Although I recently cut…

Oh wow! I'm so happy that this old thread got bumped up! I'm 5' and pictures like these--especially the ones that are dated--are really inspirational. I'm also happy to see that not all these ladies lose all the boobs. That's been the ONLY 'fat reward' for me as I was always a tad lacking on top before. I've been mourning…

You change your weight from "check-in" that is available from the "Home" selection. I am only using the web site so I have no idea what the phone app looks like.

Your Mom's chicken soup may be a little high in sodium, but it's a needed electrolyte. (Potassium, sodium, calcium and magnesium, I think.) Be well and don't fret a bit of water weight while you're under the weather--hydration with those electrolytes is more important. And, in my experience drinking til you're ready to…

I think your calculation is correct. However, if you find your food in the database or if you enter/edit it as a new food, once you adjust the portion, it will automatically adjust the macro counts. Also the usda site will allow you to put in actual weights and see the resulting breakdown. ...if they have your food in…

Just jumping in for the low car info.

Hahaha.... Scrolling through the intro pages and your title caught my eye, and I'm surpised there weren't any replies yet. It's odd which posts will take off here and which won't. I can so relate! I'm not a 'gamer' per se in that I don't do complicated role playing games and such, but being rather isolated I have played…

I'm curious, how did your science class explain the weight difference? For me, at 5', the healthy weight range is from 90 something pounds up to 137 across the 'frame' sizes. Sure, muscle takes up less space than fat, but weight is weight. The charts are not about size, so why the range? Btw, I've been at 105 and even less…

Just bumping for the info.

I was fortunate to read this thread in the first few days I was on the site. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1234699-logging-accurately-step-by-step-guide

Unless you are having an anaphylactic reaction or the nausea turns to vomiting and dehydration, just chill til you can get to a doctor in the next week or so. Stress can cause any and all of those reactions. Log your food diligently and use your food diary notes to record meal time and symptom times and you will have a…
