goals are to gain weight and get stronger, I do yoga 5-7x a week, climb 2-3x a week and go hiking once a week if I'm lucky. I also do some body weight training 2-3x a week. before I started counting again I was eating around 1500-1800 and losing/ maintaining but I'm really trying to eat more than 2000 a day. I eat things…

i'm a college student so i've got a bit of a wacky schedule but normally i can run in the afternoons or right before my dinner. typically i'll have some sort of snack before like fruit or a granola bar and then a meal afterwards. i find if i wait about 30 minutes after i eat a snack then my body is ready to run
-
undergrad student who just started running again (: i'll add you! do you use run keeper by chance?
-
i only consider my exercise to be my planned physical activity like a hike, going running, practicing yoga, rock climbing, etc. plus it seems like the calculation for cleaning is way too high! my phone adds some calories if i walk more so i just use that

I have never mentored someone before but I would love to help in any way I can. My philosophy is not weight loss focused but getting more in tuned with and honoring your body, mind and spirit. I am a vegetarian who will be transitioning to veganism in the new year and would love to help someone transition to a vegetarian…

i'm new to running and my goal for next year is a half marathon (at the end of the year) i'd love to add you (and anyone else)! my name is yogirunning
-
thank you all! i want to keep running enjoyable so i will just see where my running takes me this year

love mine! i got it last year for christmas and have been enthusiastically using it this whole time. it's fantastic. my usual recipe is frozen banana or mango, any other fruit till about a cup, a cup of greens on top of that and then some coconut water or almond milk. and you can mix it up a lot and make lots of cool…

most people adhering to the label of vegan use absolutely no animal products! whereas people who eat a plant based diet are only "vegan" in their diets but not lifestyle. veganism, i consider at least, is a lifestyle and not just a diet

Notwithstanding that one run of 25 mins at 10min/Km is pretty good, its one run. To mitigate injury risk it would be better to start earlier in the plan than week 7. [/quote] couldn't find a link to the couch to 10k program but i think my general fitness level is higher than couch level. ran again today same trail and same…

ah yes! i tend to push myself a lot and definitely do not want an injury on my hands. i've read that 10% a week is the standard? it seems that hal higedon's 10k novice program would suit my style. that wouldn't be too much, right? and thanks (:

i suggest you consult with a doctor, nutritionist/ dietitian, and therapist if you aren't already. but as someone recovering from a restrictive eating disorder i can tell you that it's incredibly common for restricter to go into a hyper metabolic state- aka being super hungry all the time. it's completely normal which is…

mostly vegan- going to make the full switch in feburary!

i want to improve my distance. i'd love to start trail running so pace isn't as important to me, i just want to be able to keep on running along! how long would it take for me to be able to run a 10k without stopping?
-
try walking your feet out a little more, it's okay if they're further than the short edges of your mat to start.
-
sure! preferably vegetarians, vegans, college students and people who practice yoga!
-
hello, recovering from a restrictive disorder is so difficult so i am so glad you're taking a step in the right direction! however calorie counting at this point in your recovery will not be helpful at all if you want to move away from your disorder. i had to give up counting and obsessing over numbers in order to gain my…

i used to have stretch marks on my boobs :open_mouth: but they have faded over time. i just checked on them and you could barely tell that they're there! it doesn't bother me and it's never bothered anyone who has seen them. i also have self harm scars that look a lot like stretch marks all over my hips and in the summer i…

i would imagine pilates is probably very similar. or you could enter in ballet or maybe even yoga. or do a fusion 1/2 the time entered as pilates, 1/2 entered as ballet

i always have food in my bags. i'm always running around so between my school, gym, yoga and regular bag i have 2-3 lara/lara alt/ rawveloution/ cliff/ kind bars, an apple or banana or a couple of clementines, mini almond milk + protein, trail mix/ raw nuts, fruit leather, raw protein or vega protein powder, granola bites,…

I love in Atlanta so biking in the city is not exactly my cup of tea and it doesn't really snow enough for there to be snow activities around. but it gets cold enough that I don't want to go outside! I suppose I'll squeeze in the last bit of hiking I can and then switch to just indoor yoga and climbing. thanks for the…

as someone recovering from anorexia with some bulimic tendencies, i know that i will not be weighing food or measuring out everything i eat. i just don't find it necessary. as long as you're eating mindfully and according to hunger cues, then your weight will settle at it's natural and healthy set point. intuitive eating…

veganism isn't that scary! it's super easy to get the recommended protein amounts through tofu, tempeh, seitan, beans, lentils, veggie burgers, protein drink/ bars (optional), nuts, non-dairy milks and such things! I am 19 and have done all my own cooking (vegetarian and vegan) for the past 5 years because no one else in…

so much debate on the soy milk! i like unsweetened almond and soy milk and occasionally i'll have sweetened almond milk fortified with protein. i like the taste of unsweetened almond milk but hate that there's no protein in it!

I have struggled with an eating disorder and a huge part of that was over exercise. Right now I am maintaining my weight but eating according to my hunger cues and doing exercise outside of the gym! I do yoga of varying intensities 4-6x a week, rock climbing x2, and generally go on some sort of walk, hike, or bike ride…

yes! my two fav vegan protein drinks also have meal replacement drinks that have more substantial energy in them which can totally help with gaining. for me, when i was gaining on a mostly vegan diet i just made sure to listen to my body cues and cravings (mostly) and fuel myself properly. Lots of meals and lots of snacks!…

i believe i burn more in a really active vinyasa class than mfp says. but each yoga class and teacher is so unique i think it would be impossible to come up with a firm cals burned for yoga- especially when they don't have designations for vinyasa, power, gentle, etc. as for yin or restorative i never count it because…
