HOME! I absolutely LOVE working out at home. But.... this is only because I've been able to collect the equipment I want and need for a small home gym. I had a gym membership for the last 4 years and a trainer for 1, and I still had issues walking into the weight room with confidence. Not to mention the travel and waiting.…

FABULOUS!!!!

I've always had bad ankles and was scared to run, plus I was over 200 lbs at the time. I started slowly, repeating training levels of C25K a couple times. Took my time and made sure I got really good shoes. I found my ankles got stronger with running, as a matter of fact my lower body as a whole is stronger. But really you…

This has to be some of the best real advice! I'm turning 40 this year myself, started my lifestyle change about 3 years ago losing 60 lbs. Even then it was very difficult. I've stalled and gave up thinking this is as far as I can probably go. After reading cwolfman13 post, it reminded me of what I need to do. You can do it…

What I do know is that low fat is not a good option for most women. We need fats to help regulate our hormones. Eating at a deficit is hard enough, throwing in low fat diet just made me a hot mess. Hopefully you will notice a change by increasing your fats, best to get them from healthy foods like avocados, nuts, etc.

Agree. Although the addiction mindset is the same, as an alcoholic you do have the option to stay away from your addiction. Even though it's very difficult, alcohol is still option. Food is not.

I started out obese and very very out of shape. I mean I couldn't even walk upstairs to my bedroom with out struggle. I believe it took me a solid month of being consistent with working out 4-5 days a week and decent eating. It was such an amazing feeling how strong I was becoming. Now I can run a 10k and enjoy lifting.…

I agree, I was totally intimidated to even walk into the weight room. It just takes practice and a plan. Now I just plug in my music and focus.

Yes I do! I can't imagine not lifting, lol. I absolutely love what it does to shape my body as I lose weight. Not to mention improving my running. Would love more lifting pals, feel free to add me

I'm not quite 40 yet, still have 9 months left in my 30's, lol. But would love more pals with similar goals. I've been on a mission to get fit and healthy by my 40th, started about two years ago or so. So far I'm down 60+ lbs and have another 35 to go. ;-)
-
I'm on the same mission.... Fit by Forty!!!! I started a couple years ago have lost about 60 lbs so far. My 40th birthday is in Oct and I plan on being in the best shape I've ever been. I still have about 35 lbs to lose but also doing my best to maintain as muscle as possible. I lift and do mostly HIIT and circuit training…

This is the exact reason I used to keep my dairy private. I was more honest with my food when I was the only one seeing it.

I'm 5'3 and was 240 lbs when I started. I set MFP to lose 1 lb a week and ate back most of the workout calories I burned. This is the way MFP is intended to work. I found I was eating on average between 1600-1800 calories a day. I lost 60 lbs this way and never felt hungry. I also agree with the other post who suggested…

Amazing! You are strong!!! Keep it up you're doing so well, congrats on the progress

Not only do you look healthier and happier, you also look younger!!! Wonderful job!

I see what I did wrong now... thanks!!!

I'm also a HUGE Brooks Glycerin fan!!!! They saved my foot!!! I found a pair at Foot Locker for only $80, last month. Otherwise they usually run pricey, but worth it in my opinion.

I hate when people still tell me to stop eating bread!!!! Umm, I've lost 60+ lbs eating lots of carbs, I think I'm okay LOL.

Getting in line at amusement park rides with confidence

Weight loss is basically all about keeping your intake calories in a deficit. I love running but my left foot and knee not so much. So I use a lot more weight training now for exercise. I've always done both and have lost 60+ lbs so far. As long as I eat at a calorie deficit I will lose, regardless of what workouts I do. I…

What people often don't realize is that even though MFP sets goals low, you're supposed to eat back your workout calories. If you start too low, where will you go from there when you hit a wall? IIFYM is a good way to go if you're worried about eating back all your workout calories. You can also start by just eating back…
-
I've lost my first 50 lbs while eating 1800-2000 calories a day. I don't follow IIFYM, I just go by MFP settings eating back my cardio calories. I've done both but found MFP easier for me to follow, but both programs do work! Right now I'm eating 1400-1600 daily, sometimes even more depending on the day. Still losing…

Seems weight loss and fitness is the real fountain of youth! You all look younger and happier! Great job, very inspiring

Not sure if it's been mentioned but your calorie intake will also have a lot to do with gaining muscle and strength. There's only so much strength you can get while eating on a deficit. And it's nearly impossible to build muscle unless you're eating at maintenance or above, with a solid lifting routine.

Adding you ladies ;)

Starting to think we should start a MFP group, lol. I believe I sent friend requests to everyone, please add me if not ;-)
-
Loving this group!
-
Wow, thats awesome!!!! Yeah I struggled with C25k, never occurred to me to lift first. I know now how much my runs improve with a lifting program.
-
I just did my first trail run, sooo loved it. That's all I want to do now, lol. You're amazing running up hills with weight!

Awesome! Adding all you ladies.
