I've found that weight training has actually helped with my runs. It also helps me to do more endurance weight lifting when I'm trying to get ready for a race (lighter weights and more reps). Otherwise I like to lift heavier and run lower miles each week. I'm still playing with it and always learning. Adding you both :)

You guys are awesome! Happy to report that I DID finish my first 10k, running the entire race!!! I really felt accomplished! I never ran like that my entire life, it was pretty cool. I have kept up with my runs and plan on more races soon. It's so very true how the excitement and running with others keep you going longer…

I finally found a decent balance between lifting and running that's also aiding in my weight loss. Now to find a way to slowly build on it, lol.

Keeps me honest. Besides, I log for ME ;)

I love the feeling of strength and finishing a heavy set! I have lightened up my load though since I'm running more, getting ready for my first 10k run in a couple weeks. I'm starting to learn how to better balance this run/lift life. Seems like it really depends on your current goals. After my 10k I'll return to lifting…

"Heavy" means whatever is challenging for you. Everyone has different strength and what might be heavy for one is not for another. Typically anything under 10-12 reps, the last few reps should be pretty hard to finish. This applies to any lifting exercise (squats, bench, deads, etc). That's how I measure my heavy lifting,…

You really don't have much to lose. I'm curious if you should be focusing more on body composition/body fat % instead of weight loss? At least that's what I would do.

^^^ Do this! You need more calories for energy. By the way, if you use TDEE method you don't eat back your workout calories. If you use the MFP method, eat back your workout calories. Comes out almost the same.

Are there women who DON'T get ravenous??? If so, lucky!!! It's totally normal to get that hungry when the flo is on it's way. Probably more so if you only eat 1200 calories. You won't gain weight eating at maintenance or by going over a couple days. I usually eat above maintenance for like 2-3 days during my period. I can…

I never starve. I can't eat low calories even when I tried, lol!!!

I hope you don't die... otherwise I'm doomed, lol! I have my first 10k at the end of this month. I'm following Hal Higdon's 10k training program, so far so good.

It took me about 1 1/2 years to drop my 60 lbs. It was slower but I also enjoyed it more, less stress and was able to enjoy life events too. Most importantly, it's actually staying off, no weight gains! 30 by Christmas seem like a lot, to me anyway.

Spanking the hell out of each other...

Yes, that's another thing... I'm still trying to lose weight. However the scale is not my highest priority right now, it hasn't budged in months but I still lost inches. Until today that is, almost lost a full pound, haha I average 1600-1800 calories a day. I was doing IIFYM but found I was becoming really obsessive with…

Sounds like you have good speed already. I finished my first 5k in like 40-45 mins. I was just excited that I did it!

Practice more gratitude and appreciation. Stop hating yourself. Once I started to be grateful for the body I have and appreciate that I can still move and get around freely, that's when I was able to respect it more. Honestly this is what has helped me stick to my goals. Of course I'm not perfect, negative thoughts and…

I like intervals of speed and inclines to keep it interesting. Music is very important. Even then I really can only do 3 miles MAYBE 4 on a good day.

8 bras Two of them are high impact that I use for running. A couple I like for lifting and the others are for yoga, walking, cleaning the house kinda deal.

Congrats! :drinker:

Never done a running challenge, fairly new to running. I'd love to give this a shot. Currently in the middle of my 10k training so this will be perfect! I guess I'll try for 40 miles in October.

When that happens to me, I just go on with my day and make better choices for my next meal. I will workout as usual and move on. Weight loss is really about your weekly deficits, no just daily. Don't worry too much about it, just continue on with your goals. Hang in there :flowerforyou:

If so, now he knows better than to ever bring up calories or other weight related subjects when trying to hit on a girl! LOL

Good for you hun! Some people just need to be told. Keep on taking care of you, you're doing great!

I used to look at runners like that also. It always seem so fun, running at parks, the beach, bays, at the gym. I was jealous, I wanted to run like that! I weighed about 215 lbs or so when I first attempted to run. I used the Couch to 5k program. I was very slow and it wasn't fun, LOL. My legs burned, I struggled to…

Awesome! I'm a fairly new runner as well. I'm training for my first 10k. My advice is to take your time! You can do it!
