  • I agree. Basic advice can be the lightbulb moment for someone at the right time. I've struggled w/ my attempts lately to reduce cals and step up exercise but part of me can't fully get there. The marital stress is overwhelming at times. So I've cut myself some slack and I'm working on overall health. Working out at least 3…
  • I have just been reading up on this. I'd like to join.
  • We women need to keep each other in the loop like you've done. I too suffer from the TOM dilemma. I've been actively trying to lose weight for over 2 months and after the first 3-4 lbs, I fluctuate back up, then down again. Sooo frustrating!
  • WEEK 8 CHECK-IN Current weight: 137 Pounds lost since last week: 0 Pounds lost since the start of our challenge: 1.5 Question of the week: Have you bought that bikini yet? If so, post a pic of it! No need to post a pic of yourself in it though (unless you want to), but we'd all love to see some cute bikini's out there. I…
  • WEEK 7 CHECK-IN Current weight: 137 (i'd rather not talk about it) Pounds lost since last week: gained 1.5 (I know it's not a lot in the grand scheme) Pounds lost since the start of our challenge:1.5 then gained it back  Question of the week: Do you strength train? Are you a cardio girl? Do you do a bit of…
  • that's all muscle girl. I've been fluctuating the same 2-3 lbs for 2+ months now and my friends on MFP have told me that from the looks of my diary, I'm not eating the right kinds of food. i.e. more fruits and veggies and less empty cals like simple carbs. I love the community support here. For me, it can be hard to log in…
  • YES! my goal was 2000 for the week, after I printed up my exercise log for the week I burned 2,233! Sadly, I have not lost an oz. I've actually gained. Whatever. Fitness is important. I'm working on the food still. (LOL)
  • Love the name, Serenity Farm. It invokes peace of mind immediately. Welcome and Hi! I'm a yoga person too. I used to be big into gardening but it's a heck of a lot of work. We have a kitchen garden but my husband is the farmer- I reap the rewards.
  • a sign you've turned a corner. Now just add Hugh Jackman as your cashier and you're set!

  • Who is she and what is she to the team? I mean really. So what if she's the coaches wife? :grumble: Some people are so quick to judge others & there is no situation that suits everyone. She was trying to bully you. No joke. Trying to intimidate you through her superior sacrifices and parenting know how. I give you fist…
  • Welcome! 10 lbs! That is fantastic. You're way ahead of me, I've been here about 2 months and have only lost 4.
  • So here're my goals for the week: What's your work-out schedule look like for this week? Sunday: elliptical, 60 mins. Monday: hike 60 mins  Actually did upper body today took bat 40 mins. Tuesday: Yoga, & Palates 60 mins Wed: circuit training + elliptical, each 30 mins Thurs: Abs & arms workout 30 mins …
  • So glad you posted this mini-challenge! Really helped me get moving. I did 200 crunches alternating between sides and & forward on my medicine ball. I also did bridge lifts and side plank lifts (if that makes sense) then I focused on upper body, some with weights some w/o.
  • MFP has my fitness cals @ 990/week. that seems low for this goal so my goal this week is 2000.
  • I'm here to take notes. I'm optimistic though:ohwell:
  • Love this philosophy. I am easily dissuaded by long term high results goals. Today I'm doing the 200 crunches one day challenge; along with this weeks fitness plan. today is also upper body.
  • 1200 is the initial recommendation by nutritionists. It's the safest way to lose weight and hence MFP needs to be responsible. When I saw the nutritionist abt 4 years ago I was told 1250, pick any diet plan, i.e. Atkins, zone and so on. I was also told to work out 5-6 days a week. There was another topic on this today and…
  • This week's check-in... Was on vacation and hiked a bunch last week but never lost a pound. (frowny face) Current weight: 135.5 Pounds lost since last week: zip Pounds lost since the start of our challenge: 1.5 - not impressive Question of the week: When you hit your goal will you do anything else to get bikini ready??? A…
  • I'm in the same boat. after I log in my food diary, I see carbs and sugars are over my goals. some call it the white diet (cutting out all white foods like white sugar, flour, milk,) I have a hard time because it's in everything. I think I have to be preparing all my meals so I know what's in them but really, I don't have…
  • I believe the issue is not higher calories, it's feeling full on lower calories. There's a lot of great advice here. Exercising can ramp up your bodies natural appetite hormones as will spreading out your meals. here's a link to a Science Daily article: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/12/081211081446.htm. the…
  • Hi- Great attitude! You will love it here.
  • at 42 my body has a mind of its own. Healing takes longer and so does losing weight. But I will say my overall attitude is contrary to what it was in my 20's and my 30's. Having children has also given me a wider perspective on who I am and what I look like. The key word that keeps me motivated is "healthy". When I turn 50…
  • My daughter, 7, and I dance all the time. Sometimes to Glee, other times Disney's little mermaid. Sadly, I'm way off my game. Anyone try that poll dancing class that's big with the burbs housewives? I heard it's a great burn.
  • That's a welcomed compliment from your friends and family. You deserve to treat yourself to jeans and whatever else catches your eye. Do you see the difference too?
  • Thanks for all your great input! From the sound of it you guys all found good meals and plan that work for you- I'm hopeful.
  • Welcome to MFP first off. You have a great attitude and I think you'll find many like minded peeps here to encourage you to stay healthy. Personally, I have always mixed my diet plans. A little Atkins, South beach, (love the recipe book) and weight watchers. I like lots of options. Not sure this answers your question but I…
  • You look fantastic. I hope you are proud of your hard work. You look healthy from your photos. I would be careful about other's opinions of you and your body because they don't live in your body. That's not to say they aren't supportive but you would do well to take a step back and take a reality check. Are you hurting…
