  • Yes good point Steve. You do not want to create bad habits off the bat. It is important to have cheat days, just not too many of them. Also I am a Colorado kid, so I have to Go Broncos all the way!
  • I have had a bit of an issue finding the right hill lately. We lived down by Denver and I had my favorite hills, but now we live up in the Rocky Mountains and the hills are massive. It's a good challenge, but it requires so much more motivation on my part.
  • When I was growing up in sports, everything was always so traditional in terms of how we worked out, It would be bench press, squats, deadlift, run, etc...rinse and repeat. This routine got so boring and repetitive as the years went on. Needless to say I find these workouts fun and motivating which should be the goal of…
  • Excellent post Steve. I doubt many of us are going to take it that far, but I would actually like to try if I could organize my life around it. I have always said that (aside from food) exercise is a necessity for humans. To be stuck in front of a computer screen and then to come home and sit in front of the TV is not what…
  • Good point Steve. We used to focus on soft landing techniques. This was just akin to land on the toes and balls of the feet first and with knees bent and about 90 degrees. This is a great technique to reduce wear on the knees, however it does require a bit of practice. Start low and slow and work up with it.
  • Nice so you use the portobellos in place of the crust? I was trying to find a gluten free alternative that didn't suck, I will try those. I may also just make my homemade crust and call it a cheat day once a month. We have a little butcher shop down the street from us which rocks as well. Yes it costs a bit more but the…
  • I eat about the same (calorie wise) when I get into heavy workout mode. I'm in a trim state right now, so I cut way back on the carbs and upped the protein and veggies. I have become a hippie in the sort that I am trying to stick to seasonal food offerings. I have this theory that foods consumed in their natural harvest…
  • Thank you for sharing this with us. I was feeling under the weather today, but it is but a small issue compared to you. I have completely rid my vocabulary of "I can't" . Keep proving them wrong!
  • Welcome Steve. My wife is from Poland and grew up on farm to table type dining. It was only the last few years where she started our transformation into paleo eating. I do 90% of the cooking in the home, but she buys pretty strict to the paleo diet. I believe in cheats, we only live once and I'd hate regret anything when…

  • The easiest way that I have found to maintain weight is that of mental reprogramming. We are inundated daily with ads that remind us how "fat" we are but is this helping us in any way to lose weight or get on the right path...I think not. In fat research shows that this may be actually making us "fatter" in the long run.…
  • As a former wrestler, weighing in always brings anticipation. I find that if I am nervous about being weighed that I tend to weigh more. I know it sounds weird but if I get a little apprehensive about stepping on the scale, I will do a 10 minute meditation and think light thoughts until I'm comfortable stepping up (this…
