I just remember the news article about the guy that won an almost two million dollar lottery and is still collecting food stamps.

When I was little, my friend's mom refused promotions because she didn't want to get off government handouts. It's the world we made for ourselves.

I've been reading up on the whole protein thing for a bit. People seem to think you need it right away. And the liquid stuff supposedly gets absorbed faster. It's just my opinion that anything concentrated like that, can't possibly be the healthiest choice. I've also read, if you get protein throughout the day in your…

"Be careful with maca, there is such a thing as too much too soon. I read a forum posting on the net today, and my herbalist confirmed it. Maca root actually can exasperate your hormonal symptoms and make them worse. It’s also an energy booster so this is why I was feeling like my heart was beating faster all the time, I…

I'm going to have to look into this dark chocolate thing.

Quit raining on my parade. Looks are always about lighting. That's why bars are so dark. =)

Bread is good with butter. So delicious. Though I think it may just be the butter.

@timlord - I don't doubt your qualifications. I doubt most people's. Someone with that many degrees and experience can probably be trusted. But seeing as you've taught in public schools, you probably know you can't trust everyone with a degree. Kind of like the pot head I used to play poker with at the bar. She is a…

Unfortunately you can't count on experience either. I find the best person to go to is someone that actually loves the topic you are questioning. They are the ones actually doing research and keeping up with new information.

IT field.

Another thing I want to mention. I've noticed people come here for info when it can be researched. I've got a feeling the people looking for advice on here, don't really care to look into someone's background to verify their qualifications. Everyone wants a quick fix. At least I haven't seen too many questions an amateur…

I know someone with a masters degree. Doesn't do his job very well. Seems to me it doesn't mean much.

Check your weight daily for a week (if you're not trying to lose or gain) and average it. That's pretty much your true weight. Though it may change during TOM.

I'm going to disagree with the 2 kitchen people above. If you're young and working out like crazy, you can get a slightly visible six pack. Mines visible in the right light and I eat horribly. Though you should eat right. I really shouldn't be telling ya'll this.

People do it so the thread gets listed in "My Topics" and it brings the topic to the top of the list. Reminder, typing anything into the topic will bring it to the top. Doesn't actually mean anything significant.

Start now. Try to suck it in while working. If you're not sore the next day, do it again. You'll build the muscle. You'll still need to lose the flab on time. Do lot's of cardio to lose this flab. Note: You cannot spot reduce.

That's a good idea. Easier than measuring. Try to wear very similar clothing, take the same stance, and keep the camera in the same place.

I don't cool down too long. Just need the heart rate to slow down and then do a little stretching. Usually lasts just a few minutes total. As far as eating, my diet is nothing to mimic.

Do the workouts with the weights.

I wouldn't pay much attention to people that don't give you any numbers. To say excess just flushes out your system is similar to saying you can drink as much water as you want. Granted, people tend not to overdo water, but it is possible. Look it up.
-
I wouldn't do more than half a gram per lb you weigh. Do some reasearch. Too much of anything is bad for you.
-
I like this. I don't know much about powders or shakes, but I can't imagine that magical fix is absolutely good for you. I'd do real research if you really want to know.
-
this is why you should measure.

The sun gives you cancer.

I'd listen to her. Very wise.
-
I don't listen either. That's why my goal is to increase bench press and lose weight. Since starting MFP I'm up about 50 lbs on bench and down 10 lbs in weight.

read my post above and you'll see why it's not.

I believe they mean a cup of popped, pop corn. and 2 tablespoons of kernals is 160, before popping.

I eat a bag for lunch on Sundays.

This isn't a race, people. You want quick loss, you may get it, but you'll likely fail in the end. Either by quitting or gaining it all back from burn out (for lack of a better term).
