  • Know what your trigger foods are and stay away from them. Make sure you are eating healthy, balanced meals (and that may mean something different to you than it does to me), so that if you reach for a Belvita, you aren't so hungry you scarf the whole box. When you find yourself reaching for a trigger food, ask yourself…
  • Good for you! Recovery, I'm sure is not easy. I suspect it's very much like an addiction and you have to take it one day at a time. Best of luck to you.
  • I agree with this. If you found something this is working for you, stick with it. If it stops working, tweak it as necessary. I find that every person's weight loss journey is their own.
  • Plan ahead. If you are going out to dinner, look up the menu and nutrition (usually available on the restaurant's website) and decide, before you go, what you are going to eat. Volunteer to be the designated driver and you won't have to drink. I also like the suggestions by others to cook a meal at home.
  • I once saw a poster that said "tired of starting over? Quit giving up". I think of that every time I start to lose focus. Starting over sucks. So, one slip up doesn't mean you have to start over - don't let one slip become two or three, etc.
  • Thanks everyone. I own Sarah Lurie's Kettlebell Iron Core - I like it. I also have Angie Miller's kettlebell workout and think it's ok, but not great.
  • Welcome!

  • Great job everybody!!! Thanks for posting and keeping us motivated.
  • He sounds abusive and controlling. Dump him now before it escalates into something worse. Ask yourself why you would want to stay with someone who does not respect you. What's wrong in your life that makes you think you are unworthy of something better? I hope you realize, and soon, that you are worth so much more than…
  • Try adding another liter of water to your day, especially on days that you work out. I'd also try to up your fat intake, such as Olive Oil or Avocado oil, etc.
  • I think women get conflicting information. There is the New Rules which talks about heavy lifting, P90X talks about heavy lifting, but then if you look at the numerous workouts geared towards women, it's usually interval training with lower weights. Jillian talks about going heavier as does Jackie Warner, if you aren't…
  • This! Celebrating the success doesn't mean you have to stop your progress, it's a way to be proud of the accomplishment, so far. Well done!
  • Quest Bars, cheese cubes (not high fiber, but fat and protein will fill you up), peanut butter or almond butter
  • 20 - 40 minutes a day, at least 5 days a week, but usually 6.
  • Keeping mine open helps me to be even more accountable for what I eat.
  • I lost weight on WW and then gained it back because I struggled to maintain it. Then WW changed their points plan and I hate it. I hate that the online tools have so few items. I feel like I'm constantly having to enter data, which is already preloaded on MFP. So, I switched to MFP and like it much better.
  • I believe the reason Almonds are a "no" on induction is because most people cannot limit themselves to 1 serving (6 almonds) and that adds a lot of carbs.
  • I'm going to agree with the OP. Genetics can sometimes suck. However, they are what they are and we can't do anything about them. My daughter is freckled, even more than I am. It doesn't matter that we slathered sunscreen on her all.the.time, she's genetically predisposed to get them and she does. I have a big bum, not…
  • I'd love to see it. Let us know when it's up and running!
  • I'm 5'4 and weigh 140 (am trying to get down to 130). I wear a size 10, but they are snug. I want to be a size 6/8. I have a booty.
  • Every so often isn't going to hurt you. Every other day could. Check out the 5:2 plan if you want to do intermittent fasting. Lots of research behind it and it's good to fast a couple of times a week.
  • It depends on where you are going. If you are staying in the states, it's easier. You can always order salads, bun-less burgers, unbreaded (naked) chicken wings, etc. You can also stop at many grocery stores and get lunch meat or rotisserie chicken. I find it difficult when traveling dependent on where I'm going. For…
  • I'm 5'4" I work out at home. I'm not so good at losing weight though, even though I'm almost always in a calorie deficit. I work in an office (home) so my TDEE is 1200 per day. Today I did Cathe HIIT workout (33minutes) and then followed it up with a 12 minute GIAIM ab workout. Yesterday, I did Jessica Smith's better body…
  • How much water are you drinking? Perhaps, instead of the granola bar after the sausage biscuit, you could drink 2 full glasses of water. Wait 15 minutes and then ask yourself if you are hungry. If not, don't eat. If you are switch out the granola bar for a greek yogurt or Fiber One bar or small amount of oatmeal so you get…
  • I'd suggest using circuit training.
  • My better days are when I start (after the everyday routine of waking, getting dressed, bathroom, brushing teeth) with some sort of exercise. Often, I only find time for 10 - 20 minutes of yoga or pilates, but it's a good start. The only better mornings are when I can sleep in.
  • Try Ellen Barrett's workouts (some of these are on OnDemand (free) on Time Warner, via exercise Sportskool. Her workouts are very low impact and she tries to keep your heart rate in a "Fat burning" zone rather than aerobic zone. I like them when I'm sore or just tired and need to do something, but don't want to do…
  • Try weaning yourself by making your drink smaller and smaller. I used to drink diet coke every day. I cut myself down to 1 a day and now have it occassionally, but not every day. I drink green tea so I don't deal with the caffeine withdrawal. I like diet coke. I don't find that I have fewer cravings without it, my skin…
  • Never heard of it, what is it?
  • Bananas Oatmeal (mainly for the ease of it, not necessarily the taste of it) Butter crackers with butter on top
