I am over 5 years out from WLS (sleeve) and I have been in this group from the beginning, they are very helpful, honest, and informative and speak from experience. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/637-gastric-bypass-vsg-lapband I still can't eat the amount of food I could pre-op, but I can eat about a cup full…

@NicoleL874 it's sometimes SO hard to go through "stuff" and not get thrown off our plan. Like I mentioned in a prior post, I was really letting menopause get to me physically and emotionally and I took on a serious "*kitten* it" attitude until I got it together again. It's still a struggle but I am more focused now and…

I struggled a bit over the weekend. I really do need to plan better. One thing I did do was meal prep, I made a nice big pot of turkey chili and portioned it out and put it in the freezer. I had made chili verde last weekend too and I have a bunch of that in the freezer as well. Monday through Friday is easy, weekends when…

I am 5'4 and my surgeon told me I would probably always need to be around 1300-1500 calories a day. Since I am trying to lose some regain I have been staying in that range now and slowly but surely it's working. I am not doing strictl keto, but I am staying very low carb and when I do stick with that, it works for me.

I know people who are doing keto who eat at least a whole avocado a day, if not more. Those calories would completely throw off my plan. Then again they said they were doing "clean" keto, so... there's another thing I didn't know existed. But yeah, sometimes it's hard to keep my mouth shut!

I need to focus on increasing my physical activity this month. Also, I really need to plan better for weekends, that's when I really tend to go off track! I want to lose this regain!

I never once second guessed my decision. Even though I have had some regain, my quality of life and my health is still in a MUCH better place than before. My BP, cholesterol, blood sugar, all of it is great according to my doctors. Lifestyle change is necessary with or without surgery if you want to lose weight. I have…

So even though I am Jewish I gave up shopping for lent, but I found a brand new pair of Lorna Jane leggings for a steal on PoshMark so I bought them. Lorna Jane leggings are the ONLY workout pants I will wear and they are usually stupid expensive so I always get them on sale or clearance or when I see a great deal.

My gyno recommended this. I haven't tried it but if you do, let us all know how it works!

I am 5 1/2 years post op from sleeve surgery. I was doing great - my surgeon called me his straight A student. I got a little too comfortable and a little sloppy with my diet, but what really tripped me up was going through menopause. Menopause in and of itself doesn't cause weight gain, but I was feeling so miserable I…

I am 5 years post surgery. The best advice would be from people with similar experience. This is a great group of people at all stages of surgery. People on the main boards, while their intentions are good, don't usually have first hand knowledge of the subject -…

I had tried everything, black cohosh, estroven, nothing helped and menopause was truly crushing my spirit. As a last resort I went to an acupuncturist, she treated me and also gave me some Chinese herbs, I don't know what's in them but they are magical, my hot flashes have decreased significantly and I am able to sleep…

This is a good group for people who have questions about WLS. People are at all stages - pre-op, post op, long term, short term, and all are honest and open about their experiences whether it's bad or good. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/637-gastric-bypass-vsg-lapband

I had the sleeve over 5 years ago and it was the best choice for me. I am fortunate in that I had no complications, a super easy recovery, and no issues with food or water. I have no issues with vitamin absorption either (that is mainly an issue with gastric bypass patients). I did it because I was pushing 400 lbs and my…

This is one of my favorites and the first thing that popped into my head when I read the OP

I also agree with Karla. I have regained a bit and realized I had fallen into some old habits and like Lannie, the grazing! So back to planning, planning, planning and setting up my environment for my success.

Check out this group, it's full of people who are at all stages - pre-surgery, post-surgery, and everyone has been through it all, they are very honest and helpful. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/637-gastric-bypass-vsg-lapband

My doctor recommended a low carb high protein diet post surgery and said that would be my new normal. Personally, I feel keto would be a challenge due to the high fat content. Like @Kimny72 said, consider digestion issues. I can eat some amount of healthy fat but too fat much can make me really nauseous. Some people in…

This group - people here are honest and helpful and have actual experience rather than just opinions, and many have had the same issues that you are dealing with. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/637-gastric-bypass-vsg-lapband

One of the main reasons people don't maintain weight loss is because they don't follow the plan they are given by their surgeon and his team. Like with any other lifestyle change involving your health, you still have to do the work and you still have to be consistent. Surgery is not the be-all, end-all, it is a tool, and…

I can google a lot of surgeries and it will show that people die. Web MD also has this article about the risks of surgery in general - https://www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/sizing-up-surgery#3 I googled a BUNCH of articles that list the surgeries with the highest mortality rates, all were different, only one listed gastric…

Same here. I have not just improved my health, but my quality of life. It was the best choice for me. That said, in my opinion, it is NOT for everyone, and if you have even a shred of doubt, don't do it. ETA - I personally have never heard of anyone dying as a result of weight loss surgery. It makes me crazy when people…

Just to show how different we all are - black cohosh did NOTHING for my hot flashes. They are gradually letting up, thank goodness. My doctor asked if I wanted hormones and I said, isn't that just postponing the inevitable? She said yes, so I said I would just ride it out.

If I believed everything that everyone ever told me about what to eat, what not to eat, what's good, what's bad, I still wouldn't know what I would be able to eat or not eat. Everyone has an opinion, everyone seems to want to share it, and everyone thinks their way is the best. Not all trainers have an education in…

I had a personal trainer who told me not to eat dairy. She said it's bad for me. I said, why? You feed your son dairy. She said, that's different. Shortly after that she was no longer my trainer. I lost a LOT of weight and never gave up dairy.

I had gastric sleeve surgery 5 years ago. I chose to do it because I was pushing 400 lbs and my situation was not good. I chose to do it because I felt it would get me out of danger faster than I could do it on my own, and it did. I am healthier than I have ever been. That said, no, it isn't easy. There is really NO easy…

I prefer Enlightened to Halo Top, and I was actually able to find it at my dollar store.

My surgeon literally told me that carbs are my enemy. That said, I have noticed on my own that refined carbs are truly not a friend of mine.

The restaurants and food places in Disney are much better than they used to be as far as options, but I love the corn dogs from the stand off Main Street and I will go out of my way to get one!

I am 5 years post surgery. I agree with James that there really is no going back to the honeymoon period. I have had some regain and struggled in some areas, but overall, I am much healthier, my lifestyle is much healthier, and I know I will probably always have to tweak things to see what works and what doesn't. Basically…
