Seriously OP, if running a marathon is your ultimate fitness goal... Why are you in a rush?

Long distance running

Not before a race either. I'm a bit extreme and take 3 full day off before a marathon :# Fresh legs are amazing!

I use unsweetened almond milk because I don't like the taste of cow milk.

I've done up to 20 miles long runs on trails. But I've never raced yet!

Once the stupid snow goes away, I'm gonna be on the trails. I'm registered for a trail half in June, a trail marathon in July and a trail 50K in September :) Hopefully I won't die :#

I'm on a 6 runs a week plan. My rest day is Monday and long run day is Saturday... So my long run is actually on my 5th consecutive running day. I usually run 6-7 miles the day before and 6-7 miles the day after. Like @_Waffle_ said, I think it's great to know what cumulative fatigue feels like.

I usually run a slow 5-7 miles the day after. :)

Me too.

That sounds pretty childish. You can't have everthing you want on a silver platter in life. You have to work for it. And it's worth it!

LOL Yes they are!

The general rule is around 30%. Also, about the 20mi long run, you shouldn't really run more than 3 hours. The general idea is that anything over 3 hours takes too much time to recover from. For me, 20 miles is 3 hours. For some, it takes less time to run 20 miles, hence why some people are getting some 22milers in. For…

Just so you know for future reference... 5K = 3.1 miles marathon = 26.2 miles

I would ask your question there: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/94-long-distance-runners And... Get mentally ready for a sufferfest.

Lactate and Anaerobic Threshold... I thought it was the same thing. I'm confused.
