Ice bath! You need to treat the microscopic tears that your muscles suffered from running that distance. After my first half marathon, my feet weren't swollen but it did take me about a week to feel "normal" again. Sometimes recovery just takes a little longer than expected.

Get yurbuds! They just made a newer/smaller version especially for women and they really stay put.

I live in a rainy area too so I just always wear a hat or else the rain goes up my nose. I also bought these yellow reflector bands to wear when it's dark. They are supposed to be worn around the ankles but I wear them around my calves. They do have lightweight neon safety vests for runners which I'm thinking of investing…

Congrats! It's not about the speed it's about finishing and that's a great accomplishment. It looks like you already have the food situation taken care of. In addition, I would Wear compression tights (or any kind of leggings really) to help your legs recover and massaging your muscles. I have a contraption called The…

^^^^ Sorry,, I meant to type that the formula using TDEE makes way more sense. Otherwise taking 500 away from my BMR would only leave me with 700 calories a day. Yikes!

I went to Crossfit today and the workout was "Helen" 3 rounds as fast as you can of: 400 m run 21 kettle bell swings (I used 15lbs) 12 pull-ups (I am super weak so I use the highest resistance band for assistance) There was also an "after party" workout immediately after which was as many rounds as possible in 5 min. of: 5…

Swimming is great for toning and weight loss. I used to be a swimmer and wonder why I ever switched to running! lol Swimming is great for stamina because you have to focus on your breathing, with proper technique it stretches and tones your muscles, burns a lot of calories and makes you strong. Now I want to jump in the…

I ran 2 miles today for a total of 7.31 for the month. Geez I need to get my mileage up if I'm gonna make my goal of 60!
-
okay, I'm in. Today I ran 2 miles

I have no science to back this up but I think it would be okay to go (a little) under 1200 and still be okay. However, I would NOT recommend doing this while breastfeeding. If your body does not have enough nutrition it will start leeching the calcium and other things from your bones to produce milk. I don't know about you…

I ask myself this too! I also imagine that my kids are cheering me on, or that I have to run to my kids for some reason and I REALLY have to get there. For some reason I've also found that listening to e-books helps me to run longer than just playing music because I always seem to tell myself I can take a walk break when…

I have used map my run and jog log which both worked just fine but I've been sticking to Nike + Running just because I want to log miles to get to their different levels.

Woops, sorry I didn't see that the first post that said the group is full. I'll keep up with you guys "unofficially" if that's okay.

3.28 miles total of running so far...

I would like to try for 100 but I'm gonna go for 60. So far only 3.29 miles for the month

I completely forgot to check-in last month! Sorry. My goal for this month is 60 miles of running :)

My husband and I did a Crossfit bootcamp two summers ago with great results. It was considered a "beginner" program so we were going twice a week. I recently started going twice a week again and it is defnitely not easy, but your only competitor is yourself. So if you want to see results its only up to you to push yourself…
