  • Yes, I love this site! Say, is that an Ohio State cup? We might be neighbors. I live in Kentucky. You have nine kids? WoW! I've always wanted a big family, but ended up with three boys, all grown and out of college, and now two little darling grandchildren have been added to our family. We are so totally blessed! I'm 63,…
  • Hi Michigan and YaYa! Welcome. You will love this Site at first Sight! I do! It's so encouraging to read that others share the same problems and success we do. And their suggestions and advice are so helpful as well. Keeping track of your food and exercise is a great way to keep yourself from "cheating" on yourself…
  • I've found that eating a large breakfast of healthy stuff, a medium lunch, and a salad or something else small for dinner with small snacks in between, like that 5 cal Jello (4 oz ), helps a lot. Also the Bigelow Decaf Green Tea with Splenda. I drink it all day long, along with my 8 cups of water. Usually, I have…
  • Maybe she just wants your "skinny" clothes? :grumble: Best thing: ignore her and she will soon see that you can wear your own skinny clothes thank you.....   Never give up. Never ever give up. -Churchill
  • How cool is that! You are quite a song writer! Thanks for sharing your talents. See you tonight a 7:00. Hmm, now where did that tip jar go???
  • Very well said, Tami! Thanks for your prayers. I pray, too, but it's nice to know we aren't alone in this. You've been fantastic in keeping on with what you started. Would you please pray that my back will heal soon (from the fall I had Tuesday night) so I can start walking again? I really miss my daily jaunts, and I'm…
  • I keep a written list on the kitchen table of what I eat and add it to the MFP site when I get time. I'm careful about snacks. Drink lots of water and green tea. Walk outside 30 minutes in good weather or on the treadmill if it's raining or too hot or too cold. I spend more time in the MFP Community than I do answering…
  • One day I'll have an omelet with cheese, double fiber toast, applesauce, and decaf green tea with Splenda. Next day I'll have GV Sugar Free Maple & Brown Sugar oatmeal, toast, applesauce, & tea. Rarely do I eat breakfast out. If I'm on the run, I drink an Atkins milk chocolate shake, and take some green tea with me.…
  • I like that old VHS I have called "AM/PM Callenetics." You do it 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes at bedtime. It wakes you in the morning and relaxes you at bedtime, and the stretches work the whole body and are simple enough (kind of a combination of yoga and isometrics?) All you need is an exercise mat or soft…
  • That picture is worth a thousand pounds......er...words!
  • Hi and Welcome!       I'm 63, have osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, & fibromyalgia. Had a fall Tuesday night that took out my exercises for awhile. Got my back x-rayed today, so hopefully, I'm not broken  You'll love this site! I joined July 1 and have lost 14 pounds!…
  • Been there; done that; three times! All three are out of college now, two are married, one has two lovely babies, so I'm a happy grandma! You raise them, send them out into the world, and pray they "choose the right"! Don't cry, enjoy your down time, they'll be back. mknipp
  • Welcome! You can do it; we can help, or at least offer encouragement... This site is wonderfully encouraging. The folks here are all like family, and you are certainly welcome to be a part of it. We all wish you SUCCESS! mknipp
  • Banks, this makes more sense than the diet books I've read (most of which agree with you). Thanks for your great explanation. I love MFP  mknipp
  • I like ice cream, too, but I've started using the 50-cal. Skinny Cow fudge bars. Just one can satisfy my ice cream desire. You're doing great! Keep up the good work. Wish I could exercise as you do, but walking is about all I'm allowed in my condition (osteoarthritis, lower spine damage, fibromyalgia -- all complicated by…
  • Welcome! I haven't heard from anyone yet who doesn't love this site at first sight  I've been here since July 1 and have already lost 14 pounds. I think I'll continue with it even after I lose all I want (about another 16 pounds). I enjoy the feedback and encouragement of the other members. MIKE is a wonderful…

  • I weigh myself every morning just before hitting the shower, no clothes! If I have lost a pound, I'm ecstatic and encouraged to keep going. If I have gained a pound, I'm determined to lose it and more! Nothing wrong with weighing every day. I never weigh during the day or after eating, or especially at night!. What's the…

  • That's GREAT! I did the same thing, only with some of those long baggy shorts. I got two pair of 4-6 and had the nerve to try one on when I got home. It fit like pantyhose!!! Now I can wear them easily and they feel comfortable to walk in. HEY, that's called "The road to SUCCESS!" Dontcha just luv it! mknipp

  • WELCOME! You've got a lot more friends now! We MFP folks like to encourage each other, so feel free to ask questions. Some of us might have the same problems and some of us might have answers. Wishing you SUCCESS! BTW, I've been on since 7/1/08 and already lost 13 pounds! I LOVE it! mknipp
  • I did Atkins, too, when it first came out (all those years ago). I lost weight and was never that "hungry" but I didn't feel that "well" for most of the time I was on it. There are "good carbs" and "bad carbs" but back then, it was mostly "all carbs" that got eliminated. Now we know better, I think.... I also tried Weight…
  • Welcome to the MFP Family! We're all here for the same reason, and you will fit in like a warm glove! Don't worry about the "pill" thing. Who believes that gunk anyway.... All we wish for each other is to develop a better eating and exercising habit to help us to be more healthy and happier. Welcome and we wish you…
  • I weigh every morning before breakfast, stark naked! If I lose a pound, I'm inspired to lose more; if I gain a pound, I'm inspired to lose more! I eat a lot of Lean Cuisine, drink a lot of decaf green tea, and chew a lot of green tea gum, which helps take away my craving for sweets. I walk 30 minutes a day or more, six…
  • Congratulations! YES! It DOES work! ky-girl....er...old lady

  • You said it like it is, Sean! Diabetes is not easy to live with, I'm sure, but better than some other health problems I've heard of. It's in my family, and so far I've escaped, but have other problems that aren't fun to deal with (fibromyalgia, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, old age....did I just say "old"??? Ha! Ha! I'm…

  • WELCOME! We all wish you SUCCESS! mknipp
  • Don't worry about it! We all take a step backwards now and then! I try to keep some of that nice Green Tea Chewing Gum on hand for times when I feel like I need a Three Musketeers Bar. Chewing that stuff just seems to take away the desire to eat! I like to chew it when I'm walking, too, to keep my mouth from getting dry.…
  • CONGRATULATIONS! mknipp "Never give up.....never, EVER give up...." Churchhill
  • WELCOME, DAD! It's nice to know you are joining your wife on her journey to good health. Two can work together better than one alone. May both of you have SUCCESS! mknipp
  • Welcome! This is the right place to begin. Totally FREE and lots of fun. Encouragement comes in daily doses and we all need that. Congrats on your new baby! Success! mknipp
  • 1200 works for me. I think a lot of it has to do with the type of calories you get, and also figure in the fats, proteins, carbs. I think I could now just drink a can of Equate Diet Shake three times a day and still be satisfied. When I get hungry, I just find something else to occupy my mind until it's time to eat again.…
